  1. Actually, I think the issue is the lack of development and improvement from our returners not named Kristo, Knight, or MacWilliam. We returned a solid group of defensemen from last years team and a solid corps of forwards (who I felt won on discipline and guts last year). We expected big things this year being we has such a nice run last year and got Gerimaldi back as well as a highly rated D-man (first rounder Jordan Schmaltz). While we have an ok record, we have seen almost unbelievable lackluster play at times given the number of veterans we have back. In addition, we can't seem to get it together - we score goals and give up easy ones back or we get great goaltending and can't score to save our butts. Overall, I expected much better from a lot of returners. No one has seemed to make the jump this year. When we are bad our entire play is disrupted and it is extremely frustrating to watch. This team is surprisingly easy to knock off their game.
  2. I have never seen a recent Sioux team at this time of the year with this much dead weight. When Tech takes it to you at home it's time to wonder. We fired the coach that seemed to have the passion and got absolutely no upgrade defensively - especially with the number of returners. Time for Hak to get it done! Picture this group next year without Knight, Kristo, and McWilliams.
  3. Look back at the Mankato games also - we are giving up a ton of shots consistantly - We are spending way too much of the game in our zone
  4. I can't believe how many shots we consistantly give up - our team defense has definately taken a step back - the puck was in our end far too much for a playoff game at home. Time to get it together
  5. Don't get me going on this - We should be a mover and shaker in the new league, but so far have taken it in the shorts on their decisions - Head of Officials and media contract. Time for us to assert ourselves and stop getting hosed.
  6. Of course Jones has been coaching since 2007 - big difference than with the Women's program. You talk like there is no difference in the coaching situations which is not the case.
  7. Congratulations to Huff - I think he has worked hard on parts of his game and made himself our MVP
  8. It's nice to gut out a win at this time of the year - my main concern is our nasty habit of puking up a goal almost immediatley after we score - I've never seen a Sioux team do this to such an extent. This is mental and concerns me that we are still doing it at this time of the year. Like someone else has said - It'll come back to bite us in the a**" - I hope not, but this is something we should be able to fix
  9. Couldn't agree more - happens time and time again - no reason other than lack of concentration
  10. The only "news" from this is that some freshmen boys used poor judgement (big newsflash) - the media is making way too much out of this. The nature of kids is that they sometimes do stupid things without thinking. How is this news?
  11. I'm just observing what I think is a tendency - could be a very valid reason behind it - It just seems to me that when we go on our second half runs the offense opens up a lot
  12. Sometimes I wonder why every year we spend over 1/2 of the year on the dump and chase and only open up at this time of the year. We are clearly better using our speed and attacking, but it seems like every year starts the same.
  13. Also - a lot less dump and chase - we are dynamic when we carry the puck in and attack the net
  14. Couldn't help noticing how much better our break-out was and how crisp our passing was. If we continue like this, we'll be hard to beat
  15. Not saying they don't work hard or do a good job of clearing things out - their policy seems to be to wait until every flake has fallen until they start to plow - once they start, they're great, but sometimes I wish they would do some plowing earlier
  16. Nobody waits longer than Grand Forks to send the plows out - just went for groceries - roads are passible but crappy. Would it kill them to plow a little.
  17. You are 100% correct in your assessment of Eid's character - we were lucky to have him.

I am in favor of across the board raises in salary for almost all coaches. We expect excellence and should be willing to pay for it. Revenue will increase if we start winning more. I am also in favor of setting performance goals. All programs right now have plusses and minuses and room to improve. I am worried that we have seen a subtle but steady lowering of expectations. The nickname is settled, we have a great conference, and the transition is done. No more excuses. Time to shoot pool, Fast Eddie.

And whose job is it to recruit quarterbacks? Calling BS on the nickname excuse.

I understand what you are saying, but not buying it to the extent you are. Regardless, I think Muss needs to show us something and right soon. Not saying championship, but something we can get behind. So far, nothing.

Your big picture gives him about a decade to produce - I think that is too long. I'm not buying the nickname excuse for our lackluster transition. I have not seen anything out of him so far that indicates he will challenge for a championship in the next 3-4 years which is what took place in the program you are comparing us to.

Sounds like you know more than I do - I was just speculating, given the state of UND's defense - I've always liked Manassau and wish him well. We need to seriously upgrade our defense for next year from all aspects talent, schemes, and execution. It will be interesting to see who gets the job.

I know you are a Muss apologist, but come on - to pick out the one bad NDSU season and use that as a comparison is bogus - If you want to use NDSU as a yardstick for our program, lots of luck.

Then when do we get the equivelant of NDSU's 10-1 years?
