  1. There are two Division I programs in the state - who else are we going to compare ourselves to? In addition, I think all of us here know many Bison fans and are soooo tired of hearing about their program. We need to demand excellence in our program and right soon. I know Bubba has difficult circumstances next year, but I am really tired of our university running a second rate football program. I hope that the powers behind the throne are right about this hire because we need to step it up and soon. We can't afford another 6 years of mediocrity. I heard the jumping ship analogy many times during Muss's tenure and in my opinion is a statement that is just made to silence critics. About time we demand success.
  2. I'd say a more interesting question is what Bison fans would do if Klieman turns into a Hakstol - has a strong winning program and some conference titles but somehow can't win a natty. How long are they patient. What are the expectations for the program now.
  3. Self inflicted mediocrity -
  4. I would too, but given the record of UND's gutless HR committee I doubt it
  5. It's been like that for years - we appear to be wasting our talent so some guys can get on the highlight reel.
  6. Let's be clear about who's running Sioux athletics - our next posting might say - outsiders need not apply
  7. Not saying he did, but others here did
  8. Give the way I think this happened, the pressure needs to be on him to get it done.
  9. I'm with Sic - the good old boys need to own this - I really hope they're right - we can't afford any more years wandering in the wilderness. As it is, I can hardly stand to be in the same room as my Bison fan friends.
  10. Wow - lofty expectations - I can see why we are going to be a powerhouse - the fans demand it
  11. Tell me the story again, Ira, about how there is no "good old boys" network".
  12. You're going with that?
  13. Agreed Faison has had success in the conference area (especially if you overlook the disasterous hockey media contract). However, we have some serious work to do in all programs from a competative standpoint. We are approaching the longest title drought in hockey history, our favored vollyeball team melted down in more ways than one, our men's basketball team has not even come close to fulfilling the promise that it had 4 years ago - we have not progressed in our play one iota, women's basketball has work to do - football - what can you say. Many see the football hiring process as a joke. We need to show that we are serious contenders in the DI era. They were bold down south and are reaping the rewards.
  14. As someone who grew up watching Gunther's teams, the lack of fundamentals, discipline, and team play with this very talented group is painful almost to the point of being unbearable. Does the coach have any influence on this group or do we just throw out a basketball and scrimmage. The seniors have made no progress on teamwork in 4 years.
  15. Don't think this is small **** at all - we are emerging from a serious black hole for Sioux football that most think will take several more years to dig out of - our next hire is crucial - I'm not trying to nitpick the language used, I'm frustrated with the process.
  16. Either or both of these guys might be great coaches here - but I'll say it again - I am amazed that a "National Search" and our AD "using all of his vast contacts" only produces two guys who are on the staff of a previous coach. I am also amazed that more people here aren't upset about it or about the endless process that happened to produce this result. Could we be any more small town thinkers?
  17. Good old boy network is strong here - Can't think outside the lines to save our ass.
  18. I would bet you that if Bubba stays with Lennon next year they both get the ax. OK - 4 years at Duluth - still one game over 500. After this staff made it the first two years on someone else's talent at Carbondale it has been straight downhill.
  19. I'm sure I've been a fan for longer than you - Bubba's biggest asset is that he bleeds green, but let's not pretend that his time with Lennon has been one big success and that the team has only been let down by the offense. His resume after he left here is average. Should he get a look - yes. Is this the best resume we should have after our "national search" and Faisons "vast network of contacts". I hope not. One of us - One of us isn't necessarly the best way to hire a coach for a program that is in big trouble.
  20. Hmmm - success everywhere he's been - one game over .500 at two years with Duluth and defensive coordinator at a program that is 19 - 23 over the last 4 years.
  21. Aye, that's the rub in a nutshell. Hell with nattys, we want one of us.
  22. The odds of new blood in this neck of the woods are slim -
  23. Look - this "shut up and fall in line if you are a true fan" crap is nonsense. People have a right to be frustrated - we have been stuck with a train wreck of a program for several years. Here's why I am frustrated - We could see this coming a mile off this year - Why the Athletic Department wasn't ready is beyond me The process is bizarre at best and not conducive to getting a coach in place This "national search" and "Faison's vast contacts" bs we were fed - Really? After a "national search" we couldn't come up with a finalist who isn't on Lennon's staff at Carbondale? A program that in the last 4 years is 15-23. We are so averse to anything new it is pathetic. Add to this the Bison success and color me frustrated.
  24. Apparently we will endure the pain if we don't have to do anything new. If Bubba doesn't work out there are several more coaches on Lennon's staff when he was here to go through.
  25. Not seeing the success you are - around .500 as a DII coach and a coordinator on a very average DI team. I agree that he would shape up the troops but am not sure he can take us to the level we need to be at.
