If this was his only season I would agree 1000% - However since 2016 with Hak's team Berry's team has won only 1 - count em - 1 regional game. Time to get things done or find someone who can.

Agree - and the second rule of holes - when you stop digging you are still in a hole.

It seems live everyone in the known universe knows this except Bubba. I can't imagine what goes on in his stubborn head.

Bubba has some serious deficiencies in recruiting but his game and player management is off the charts bad.

Not to worry - Bubba is evaluating everything - like he does every year.

In my opinion this is partially true - In my opinion the GOBC is not an organized entity with meetings etc. - more of a loose group of Bubba's and his brother's contemporaries and family - many older athletes who played with his brother and some older businessmen who were big Sioux boosters pushed for his hire and whose opinion at the time had influence with the Athletic Department. I was personally lobbied a couple of times by some I knew whose pitch was "he bleeds Sioux Green". How he keeps his job is a mystery known only the Chaves - whose tenure is a disaster. Not naming names as what they did was their right to do and totally within bounds and was nothing sinister. However the results speak for themselves and it looks like they are very reluctant to call for his firing.

Ok, we'll go with that - I was going to correct my post to say no changes in results but that wouldn't be true either - results are getting worse. If Hockey Bubs can't parlay our hockey facilities into Frozen 4 teams I don't think Football Bubba will improve his program one bit. It's all about the product on the field or in the rink.

Exactly this - when Karl came on staff full time I thought wow - this will take our goalie recruitment and development to the next level and lead us to success - but no - it's portal goalie after portal goalie. Not sure how Berry's team recruiting and development went off the rails but it started right after our Natty in 2016. We have had some good talent but development is lacking and for some reason Berry can't field a team that consistently plays for a full 60 - almost a trademark of his teams.

Agree that there are many bigger problems than Simon - My biggest concern at QB is Bubba's stubborn refusal to give any other QB not just some meaningful minutes but any minutes at all. I wonder why after seeing this any top QB recruit would want to come here. Coaching malpractice from a stubborn old coach who is unbelievably set in his ways.

For someone who has been around football as long as Bubba has, his incompetence as a game manager is just stunning.

It's gone from expecting to bring it against Denver at home to hoping we won't be embarrassed. Berry needs to get things together.

Bubba being Bubba - he doesn't learn anything from experience - nothing.

The biggest problem is that it seems like there is absolutely no one at UND who is willing to do something about this. I used to think Bubba was incapable of change but that was wrong - he is regressing. Chaves created this contract mess with his second extension. And Armacost seems to not be interested. He has eyes and should be able to recognize a dumpster fire when it is right in front of him. Welcome to mediocre city - population us.

Exactly this - I had hopes that Karl would be the missing piece but so far we are always getting our goalies from the portal - not what I expected year after year. A hot goalie is essential to the playoffs.

And it's been going on his entire Sioux career - after over 10 years you would think a light would go on. HIs deer in the headlights attitude is catchy.

Really? - Berry's needs to get a team to play the full 60 every game. We often take time to coast and lose focus - this is a huge problem - see last year's regionals where for some reason we didn't come out of the locker room to start the 3rd. His record in regionals is pathetic.

You make a valid point about the photo - I think people are glomming on to it real or not because it appears to be a perfect visual metaphor for our leadership for many seasons now. As far as dealing with the issue at the end of the season - I am an alumni and lifelong fan who has season tickets for football and hockey and am a member of the Captain's Club. I have written Chaves with my concerns last year and again this year. I feel that I have absolutely no avenue to push for change - after my email to Chaves last year he promptly extended Bubba. Other than complaining on this site and writing the AD there appears to be no way to effect any changes. Clearly Chaves doesn't get it or doesn't want to. The total state of our Athletics is very mediocre and we as fans feel helpless. If the Good Old Boys Club is real I wish they would get it in gear.

Seems like everybody that follows the program knows what the problem is except the person who oversees UND Athletics. Time for a change starting at the top.
