  1. Are we ever on the road?
  2. It's not on Feeney - Bubba would have him burn a year of eligibility and give him no meaningful minutes - I'll bet Romfo stays in all game.
  3. I see the "wrap up on your tackles" talk at halftime was really effective.
  4. I see Bubba decided to go with his traditional road game prep and game plan.
  5. Not sure how giving the back-up 1 kneel down snap in 4 non-conference games is working hard to prepare every QB.. Very short-sighted.
  6. Wow - a lot of pushback from my post - No, I didn't watch the QB competition in camp. No, I'm not saying Romfo didn't win the starter's job in pre-season. What I am saying is that we have had 4 non-conference games and his highly recruited back-up has played exactly 1 snap - a kneel down - this after the other highly recruited QB saw the writing on the wall and is transferring. And after watching Romfo pass for 11 yards with 2 picks in the first half he didn't get a sniff. That, in my opinion, is extremely short sighted and sends a poor message to our back-ups. Vintage stubborn Bubba though. We will soon get into some games where short-arming simple outs and swing passes will cost us and no one else has any game experience. Not great roster management. And much of Romfo's running success is due to our great O line play.
  7. First half - 11 yards passing with 2 interceptions
  8. I'm still concerned about how we are handling the QB situation. Romfo certainly did better the second half but the first half was brutal. So far he has thrown some of the worst passes I have seen from our quarterbacks in a long time. After the first half we had 11 yards passing with a couple of interceptions and it's early in the season - and most of them were short gimmes. Given Bubba's history the back-ups must have realized that there is no way they are going to get a shot this year. A potential recipe for trouble.
  9. My point is that Denver is developing good goalies who have peaked at the right time - we are continually in the portal for a one year fix. With Karl (who is a great goalie coach) on staff I have no idea why this is continually happening. A young prospect should be able to be sold on having a solid team in front of him, a great goalie coach, our facilities, and our great tradition. I hate it that other teams - especially Denver - are having tourney success and here we are.
  10. In my opinion we had talent equal to Denver last year - in addition to peaking too early and losing intensity once again I think that the Goalie stability of Denver for the last few years has been the difference. While we need a portal goalie almost every year Denver has recruited talent and developed them. No question in my mind that a hot goalie was the difference for Denver - especially in the tourney where they faced several teams with a lot of firepower. The final game was the cap in their season and the goalie was lights out.
  11. Once again I think Bubba's stubborn refusal to give a talented back-up quarterback any significant playing time is going to bite us = if not this year then the next.
  12. I'd love to see this but in this atmosphere it just ain't happening. What I'd like to happen even more is for the AD to ask Bubba that question.
  13. Agreed these individual incidents are on the player - however the special teams coach is in charge of recruiting and coaching his players and so in a way responsible for how they perform. His recruits, his coaching.
  14. I find it stunning that this has not been addressed by anyone in the Athletic Department. Clearly a determent to the program. Bubba is hardwired to do this but it seems like everyone else is just going along including the AD. Bubba's in game coaching has bitten us many times.
  15. Big mistake in how they handled Feeney - especially giving him practically no snaps last year then telling him it will be more of the same this year.
  16. Letting the clock run out with a time out left and a punt on the 38 yard line are classic Bubba. I'm too lazy to look up the details but imagine the past 11 years with Bubba as head coach, the same rosters, same overall schemes but with someone competent managing the games. We would surely be a much better program. Bubba's game management is consistently bad - both in decision making and clock management and it is a real drag on the program. What's worse is that no way is he going to get better - absolutely no learning curve for him.
  17. So far all of the hallmarks of a Bubba team - some really good play but hampered by poor special teams, a porous defense, and horrible game management.
  18. Bubba being Bubba
  19. You do - but it is good to give your back-ups some playing time.
  20. I'd feel much better if he was given some playing time last year.
  21. Bubba's entire body of work shows he's not a winner. Yet here we are with another extension - and to salt the wound we have a "town hall meeting" where all questions are submitted but doesn't discuss his extensions or any expectations for the program. We have a serious problem here and it starts at the top.
  22. At the risk of flogging a dead horse I'll repeat - after the town hall does anyone have a hint of a clue what we are doing to improve our football program to where we want it to be or to improve hockey so they can win a regional game? Do we even know the metrics that the AD uses to evaluate the programs or what our standards for success are. What are we doing to create success and what standards are the programs held to? We do know the AD Department's feelings on tailgating, the Peterson Poarch, and playoff tickets that may be redeemed some time in the future. Also we have great insight into our goal song. What a useless PR stunt.
  23. I get that the coaches employment wouldn't be discussed - but fans have no idea what the Athletic Department expectations for any program are or what we are doing to improve. We are getting improved facilities but does anyone think next year will be an improvement?
  24. It's the same $20 that the Athletic Department is going for - And I'm not the only one that doesn't think it's ok. And it's not the money. I'm not sure what my schedule will be and based on last year's attendance resale might be hard. And I'm pretty sure we will have to play this forward next year.
  25. I had hopes that this forum would start a new era of fan-administration dialogue. Here's what I learned - - Information on Bubba's two extension - nothing, Expectations for our Football team going forward - nothing, Changes made to prevent future end of the season collapses in Hockey and Football - nothing. What I did learn is that the Administration doesn't like losing either (with no mention of any changes but implied is more of the same but we will try harder), and that changes in Football at the Alerus (tailgating, Peterson Porch, the obnoxious requirement to purchase playoff tickets as part of your package, increase in parking fees), will all stay regardless of fan wishes. Does the admin take any fan input and concerns seriously?
