  1. I generally agree with your assessment about the nature and importance of role players and how you need a complete team. However, I think a couple of other things factor in this year. It is fairly clear to me after watching the game last night that this may be one of our off years. Add that to our title drought and you get more of an immediacy that usual. We need to reload fast if we are going to win #8. Seeing the Gophers reel in blue chippers (Good God, who would want to go to that program instead of ours) brings out our emotions. We can't continue to replace JT Millers with Dickin and Gaardners and be a top program. This team needs an immediate influx of talent of the nature that the Gophers are getting. We need to get some studs in and fast if we want to be contenders. I have faith that Hak can do it, but he needs to get busy.
  2. At this point I don't think we should be "saving" anything
  3. Whenb was the last time our power play got a goal from bang bang passing?
  4. Actually, good coaches don't have to "preach" to their team about how they want them to play. Good coaches have players that work hard and buy into their system. If you are continually preaching to a group that doesn't pay any attention, they you have big problems. Name any successful coach who has players that just do things how they want on their own. You just can't get a group of reasonably talented players and turn them loose or be shy about confronting them or sitting them when they don't listen. This team could go either way. It's up to the coaches.
  5. Jones has some talent on this team - however, when you have guys complaining about not getting the ball enough or when you have guys at this point in the season with no clue what their shots should be this is what you get. Jones recruited these guys - time to coach em up.
  6. Coach clearly has some work to do We have some talent returning, but at what price How about some team discipline?
  7. I meant same amount of teams in the country and one wins the championship - regardless of the tournament format there is still one national winner every year. The list of other teams that have gotten it done is revealing, and now includes Minnesota Duluth
  8. Format, Format, blah, blah, blah - there are the same amount of teams and 1 wins the championship The odds are the same- Please let's stop using this as an excuse
  9. I'll bet the PAC 10 eats your lunch
  10. If you mean that UNO headhunted Kristo and we didn't do much about it, I agree - we can't always wait for the refs
  11. Disrupt our breakout and we've got no answer Hak takes over the top program in the country which has just moved into the best arena in the country Blais takes over a start up program He's in our building kicking our ass - do the math
  12. Agree they still have a long way to go. I've been a Mussman critic, but I do recognize that he has grown some this year. However, a last second field goal to beat Sioux Falls in a game at home that we should have been spitting fire is not quite what I had hoped for. Muss needs to keep improving as he has some weaknesses that could cost us. I think my big worry is our quarterback situation. Since Muss has been in charge, we have failed to make the most important position on the team secure and I'm not hopeful for next year. This is squarely on the head coach. I agree that 8-3 buys him some time to improve, but remember - he was only two plays this season from being a bum.
  13. Ah, the new quarterback, that's the rub
  14. I've never seen another team that spends so much time on the power play passing it around the perimeter - looking, looking, pass, teeing it up, pass, oops (or shoot into someones legs). This play is not unique to this year. What gives? This seems to be our standard power play.
  15. I'd feel a hell of a lot better about this season if we had gotten it done last year.
  16. Actually, the head coach has total control over the program. He hires the assistants, approves the schemes run, oversees recruiting of all players, manages the game, and imparts an overall philosophy and attitude on the team. To say the coach does only one thing is totally incorrect. True, he can't suit up, but he controls who does. If a team doesn't have a division I quarterback, that's on the head coach, if players underperform - well the head coach brought them in, if the team can't get fired up - head coach again. Another way of saying this team is just a quarterback away (It would help, but there are other issues) is "our coaches didn't recruit anyone who could be an outstanding quarterback at this level. Like it or not it is all on Muss.
  17. I predict this squad will set a new standard for hard work and determination
  18. What are you smoking?
  19. I can think of another way to prevent this from happening.
  20. It's halftime of the Sioux Falls game - anyone still wonder why the students aren't fired up?
  21. Note to Muss - this is how you come to play a superior team - anybody think Sioux Falls will take any knees?
  22. We need to put up 50 on these guys to gain some self-respect back
  23. When's the last time an NAIA school went to their stadium and gave them a beat down?
  24. Strange - every game I have been at there are many empty seats around the band - as many as 4 or 5 rows Can anybody close to the athletic dept. check to see what is going on?
