  1. Ugh...it's Friday and no Sioux hockey tonite...stinking Gofs and Tech on FSN...guess I'll watch the Wild game!
  2. Before this thread is closed I'll throw out a line from Slapshot..."What did you trade for these guys? A used puck bag?"
  3. What do you have against Wyoming?
  4. Saturday - Pony
  5. Interesting...looks like part of their ranking was pts earned (wins 2 pts, ties 1)...they must have placed some weight based on 'competition faced/league you play in' as well. Notably, Union has 51 pts and is ranked below teams with fewer points; Dartmouth's 33 has them ahead of teams with more points. The Gofers are given a 25% chance of making this tourney; I'm pretty sure the only way they make it is if they run the table, and do very well in the Final Five or win the Final 5. It would be interesting to know the criteria used to make this. Personally, I don't take a lot of stock in any prediction that gives Yale a better chance than Boston College of winning the NCAA's.
  6. Sorry if I missed it, but did the Standard screen versions come out?
  7. At least on Bina's goal, Frazee actually attempted to make a save...(either that or he blacked out) This goal, it appears the Tech goalie was doing a little "house cleaning" in the crease area and stretching out and then all of a sudden he felt a whoosh as the puck whizzed by... no matter, it was still an incredible play...I wonder if the Tech forward skated over to the bench and apologized for losing the faceoff... (ala Troy Murray against the Badgers in the early 80's when Chelios made a similar shot on Jon Casey?)
  8. Only if you are Mankato or SCSU...
  9. I think the point is that if we are locked into a #1 seed, losing on Friday at the Final 5 wouldn't be the worst thing ever...the boys would be a little more rested going into the NCAA tourney as a result...
  10. By the 3rd period my feed was unwatchable...might have to get a bigger dish...
  11. Awesome win by the Sioux! Always great to kick the gofers ass!
  12. 6 minutes to go
  13. Maybe you could put a live Bison in his house when he isn't around...
  14. Well he did nothing to lose the nickname...
  15. Exactly right.
  16. Sweet...my online guide still says Paid Programming...
  17. Getting the best quality of the year on the Sioux Women's game on my 30" dish...I wish they could get the men's broadcast this good!
  18. Goddammit, Sic! Everytime I think I'm over this you get me fired up again!!
  19. Thank you. That was exactly the type of detail I felt I left out... Sioux Pride! Never dies, it multiplies!
  20. I'm sure the BTHC will make sure the Gofers know that they are special... Minny definitely has the most to lose in the Big Ten scenario...what happens to their TV deal with FSN? Where is the Big Ten conference tourney to be held? (referenced above) They also potentially lose out on playing teams of historical significance (UND, DU, CC) and teams with local ties (UMD, St Cloud, Mankato, Bermidji). What's the attendance at Mariucci looking like with Ohio State and Penn State coming in vs the traditional WCHA teams? Could be tough for a couple years anyway... Also, you replace series that were primarily short bus rides for airline flights to Columbus, Happy Valley, etc. That will cost them a few bucks as well. Big Ten Hockey Conference is BAD for college hockey, imo.
  21. I know that I have read on here before (Sicatoka?) about the Sioux and Gofers tying for the league in 1997 and it came down to the third tie-breaker (goals against between the two teams). The Sioux won the goals against by 1 (I believe) and got the higher seed for the WCHA home playoffs. The Sioux end up meeting the Gofers in the Final 5 title game as the higher seed and accordingly got the last line change. The Sioux won that game on a great play be Peter Armbrust coming off the bench in OT and picking up a deflected shot and putting it past Steve DeBus. As a result, the Sioux got a higher seed in the NCAA's and had to win only 1 game to get to the Frozen Four (beat Cornell 4-2). Minnesota ended up playing Michigan St (Gofs win) and then top seeded Michigan (Gofs lost) in Grand Rapids. So getting that higher seed in the WCHA definitely ended up being an advantage for the NCAAs. I apologize if I didn't capture all the details but it was14 years ago...
  22. Anytime.
  23. The Gofs are marketing a new cologne for the smell of Mariucci...It's called 'Desperation'...
