  1. While I think Horner will become a good (maybe very good) college coach, I don't think we (or most any DI school) would/should hire a coach without head coaching experience. In this case, it is hard to tell how much Horner as contributed as we have been so-so team (other than last year) during his time at UND. He certainly assisted with recruiting in IA but I am not sure how much talent we have really gotten out of IA
  2. I sure hope this is a good pickup - I think I would have rather had the other JC guard we just offered.
  3. I do not know but I wouldn’t be too surprised if either Buchanan or Kinsey would not return.
  4. New offer to another JC PG who has three years of eligibility remaining. As a freshman as Yuba College (CA), he averaged 19/game for his team that went 26-5. Shot 50% from the field and 38% on 3's.
  5. dAnother offer to a guard for next season: G Bentiu Panoam, 6'1', Anchorage. AK Played last year at NW Kansas Tech. Averaged just under 11 points but shot 47% on 3's. Has three years of eligibility remaining. Has offer from Southern
  6. New one: TE/DE/LB Dalton Gillette, 6’4", 230, 4.7, Mukwonago (Mukwonago), WI
  7. Another: DE/LB Trey Howe, 6'4“, 215, 4.7, Avon (Avon), IN Has offer from EMU
  8. The QB may contribute in a couple of years. Hopefully, the DB will earn playing time quickly.
  9. New offer: SF Riley Grigsby, 6'6“, 210, San Jose (Archbishop Mitty), CA Has offer from Presbyterian
  10. Kuljuhovic will play at CS-Fullerton. This should have been listed under 17-18 Recruiting.
  11. Two more: CB Kempton Shine, 5'11“, 170, Chicago (St. Rita), IL OT Jared Penning, 6'7”, 310, Clear Lake (Clear Lake), IA Has offers from USD, EMU & UNI
  12. As reported in the Herald and Forum, we have offered Dale Lennon's nephew: TE Luke Lennon, 6'5“, 210, West Fargo (West Fargo), ND
  13. New offer to a JC DB: CB Duron Lowe, 5'11, 175, Overland Park (Butler CC), KS Has offers from Duquesne, SEMO & TX Tech
  14. Moore will play at CSU.
  15. Another IL offer: DE Deion Harry, 6'5", 245, 4.8, Crete (Crete-Monee), IL
  16. Fagan will play at Buffalo.
  17. Three new offers: LB Elijah Anderson-Taylor, 6'1", 205, 4.7, Centennial (Eaglecrest), CO OT JJ Lippe, 6'5", 260, 5.3, Whitefish Bay (Whitefish Bay), WI Ath Keenan Garber, 6', 175, 4.4, Lawrence (Free State), KS Has offer from MO St
  18. Source?
  19. Offer: TE Graham Metzler, 6'5“, 215, Littleton (Chatfield Sr), CO
  20. Another: DE/LB Jaylen Pate, 6'4“, 220, Chicago (Lane Tech Prep), IL
  21. We have offered Kendall Moore, a 5'10", PG from Danville, IL. He averaged just under 21 PPG as a senior. Moore recently decommitted from Drake. He has offers from Kent St, UW - Mil & WIU
  22. Hazekamp's bio sounds a lot like Franken last year but I expect him to be better. I don't think he had any other offers which is a bit concerning. Schmidt probably has some great upside but will be a project. I expected one of the guards not to be back but I may be wrong. We may be looking to add another player.
  23. Thanks for posting this - interesting! It might be a day or two before I can get to my source - you may be correct. If so, some folks who should know better are sharing some incorrect information!
  24. Yes, the CC has continued to grow but that is a necessity. The ND legislature provides less funding for higher education and college athletics than most other states*. That would obviously mean that to compete with other DI schools, we need to raise more than many others just to be on the same playing field (no pun intended). Some of our expenses are going to be significantly higher than others due to GF's rather remote and unpopulated location (recruiting costs, team travel, etc.). Tuition and room & board costs rise every year so the budget needs to increase annually just to break even. We all know that we are paying our coaches and assistants (in most all sports) less (in may cases, much less) than they would make at others schools. The above are facts but in no way hints "that UND has been missing the mark". However, most all programs (probably not hockey) are lacking in some significant areas due to budget constraints. As GFH pointed out, Team Makers raise enough funds annually to cover the costs of all NDSU athletic scholarships. Despite the continued growth of CC, we are far from covering all of our scholarships. If we can get there, that would free up $1M or so for salaries and all the things needed by each program. Chaves is happy to be at UND but fully understands that additional $ are needed for our sports to improve to the level that we are competing for a conference title on a consistent basis. * I will try to find the statistics to confirm this statement. I will post them here when I have them.
  25. Chaves has been very busy - as noted above, mostly observing and talking to people so far. There appears to be no question that he will be much more proactive with fans and boosters than his predecessor. He also will be much more involved in fundraising!
