  1. Thanks for posting this - interesting! It might be a day or two before I can get to my source - you may be correct. If so, some folks who should know better are sharing some incorrect information!
  2. Yes, the CC has continued to grow but that is a necessity. The ND legislature provides less funding for higher education and college athletics than most other states*. That would obviously mean that to compete with other DI schools, we need to raise more than many others just to be on the same playing field (no pun intended). Some of our expenses are going to be significantly higher than others due to GF's rather remote and unpopulated location (recruiting costs, team travel, etc.). Tuition and room & board costs rise every year so the budget needs to increase annually just to break even. We all know that we are paying our coaches and assistants (in most all sports) less (in may cases, much less) than they would make at others schools. The above are facts but in no way hints "that UND has been missing the mark". However, most all programs (probably not hockey) are lacking in some significant areas due to budget constraints. As GFH pointed out, Team Makers raise enough funds annually to cover the costs of all NDSU athletic scholarships. Despite the continued growth of CC, we are far from covering all of our scholarships. If we can get there, that would free up $1M or so for salaries and all the things needed by each program. Chaves is happy to be at UND but fully understands that additional $ are needed for our sports to improve to the level that we are competing for a conference title on a consistent basis. * I will try to find the statistics to confirm this statement. I will post them here when I have them.
  3. Chaves has been very busy - as noted above, mostly observing and talking to people so far. There appears to be no question that he will be much more proactive with fans and boosters than his predecessor. He also will be much more involved in fundraising!
  4. I can't find it right now but I believe that on SU's depth chart going into spring ball seven of their top 10 offensive linemen were from ND. Unbelievable!
  5. New offer: WR Logan Wolf, 6'4", 180, Cedar Falls (Cedar Falls) IA Has offers from USD, SDSU & UNI
  6. Good for Josh - a good guy! Who knows - he may be the AD at UND in 10-15 years.
  7. BWS - thanks for the updates. How is the crowd today?
  8. Appreciate the updates....
  9. Wiki has been updated with 25+ prospects who attended UND's Jr. Day today including Geno Crandall's younger brother, a S/WR from DeLaSalle. One known offer so far: RB John Eldridge, 5'9“, 180, 4.3, Lee's Summit (North), MO Has offer from Air Force
  10. Thanks for the updates - inning?
  11. Not on bigsky and Insider won't come up for me. Others able to get it?
  12. We are putting a lot of focus on MO & KS - new offer: DE Jalen Williams, 6'4", 225, 4.8, Shawnee Mission (Bishop Miege), KS Has offer from SDSU
  13. We offered Parkers Prairie's Travis Younke (TE, 6'5", 230) today. He has an offer from UNI but will get a bunch more. Talented kid!
  14. Jr. Day on campus tomorrow - it is sure too bad the weather is so lousy up there. There are some kids coming from better climates - hope the weather doesn't influence their decision-making!!
  15. New offer to another Iowan: F Tra'Von Fagan, 6'8", 200, Waterloo (Florida Southwestern State College), IA FSSC finished the season ranked as the No. 2 JC team in the country. They ended up 32-3 after losing in the second round of the national tourney. Fagan is apparently eligible to transfer after his freshman year. He averaged about 10 pts and 8 rebounds per game but only played about 14 minutes per game (which is very low). I suppose that may have been because the team was very talented and won many games quite easily. .
  16. New offer: DT Latrell Bible, 6'3", 250, Minneapolis (Washburn), MN
  17. New offer: Ath Brad Roberts, 6'2", 205, Arvada (Ralston Valley), CO Has offer from Air Force
  18. Some interesting recruiting philosophies. Per 247 Sports, here are the number of offers made to prospects at this point in time: USD 46 SDSU 39 UNI 29 NDSU 14 UND 16 Obviously, 247 does not have info on all the offers as UND has made at least 32 known offers. Assuming the other schools also have offered a significant higher number than reported by 247, USD, SDSU and UNI would really have a ton of offers out there. The NDSU # doesn't surprise me as they can be very selective - they usually get whoever they want. One thing I really do like about our recruiting this year as that we are going head-to-head against the above teams for some real talented recruits. Hopefully, we will get our share!!
  19. Another offer to an Indiana prospect: LB Tyrone Griffin, 6'3“, 195, 4.6, Brownsburg (Brownsburg), IN
  20. We continue to go after some highly recruited kids.... DE Jake Karchinski, 6'5", 245, De Pere (West), WI Has offers from Columbia, Fordham, UNI & USD
  21. And two more.... LB Nick Kubitz, 6'3", 200, Dubuque (Dubuque), IA Has offers from USD, SDSU & UNI S David Whittemore, 6'2", 195, Indianapolis (Bishop Chatard), IN
  22. Missed one from last week: LB Skyler Meyers, 6'3", 200, Blue Springs (South), MO Has offer from IN St
  23. Another offer this afternoon: LB Chamaar Smith, 6'2", 210, Indianapolis (Decatur Central), IN (2 Star - 247) Has offers from Ball St, E KY & NIU
  24. Offer to a QB/WR: Cooper Wise, 6'2", 175, Kirkwood (Kirkwood), MO Has offer from Air Force
