  1. New offer: WR/SS Jacob Odom, 6'1", 180, 4.6, Wheaton (Wheaton-Warrenville South), IL
  2. Tony Roe has an interesting perspective on UND signee, Elijah Hazekamp: As part of our preseason content, we’re counting down the top dozen candidates for this year’s Mr. Basketball award, presented annually to the top senior in the state. The list continues with our No. 5 player, Sioux City Bishop Heelan combo forward Elijah Hazekamp, a double-double machine who recently committed to play his college ball at North Dakota. Name: Elijah Hazekamp Height: 6-6 Position: F School: Sioux City Bishop Heelan 2016-17 stats: 424 points (17.7/game), 298 rebounds (12.4), 61 assists (2.5), 48.7 FG%, 39.3 3P%, 87.1 FT% Career stats: 1,005 points (14.6/game), 710 rebounds (10.3), 132 assists (1.9), 48.3 FG%, 36.1 3P%, 84.1 FT% About Hazekamp: A skilled combo forward, Hazekamp has put together a really strong career and will end up averaging a strong double-double as a result. Capable of scoring from all three levels, he plays with a relentless motor, is an animal on the glass and gets to the free throw line routinely. He’s steadily added some versatility to his game, and will continue his basketball career playing Division I basketball at North Dakota. Why he can win Mr. Basketball: He’s going to finish his career averaging a double-double and should end up as just the fifth player in 3A history to record more than 1,000 career rebounds. He’ll be the focal point of a Crusaders team that will be among the best in 3A, and one that has a real shot at winning the state title. With the big career numbers he’ll end up with, adding a state title to that resume could be enough to swing some votes his direction. Odds he wins Mr. Basketball: Hazekamp could get some attention from voters, especially those int he western part of the state, and many years he could be considered one of the front runners for the honor. But this isn’t most years, and the players at the top of the list are exceptional, so the chances of Hazekamp winning are very slim. But a career double-double average and a (potential) state title make for a pretty solid career.
  3. We beat UTSA this afternoon 60-47 but Coach Brew probably isn't too pleased with the performance. We were outscored by 7 in the 2nd half, had another 20 TOs, shot 37% FG & 58% FT.

    See highlighted responses above.
  5. Offer to a CC safety: Troy Dipre, 5'11”, 190, Cleveland (Bulter CC), OH Has offer from Sacred Heart
  6. Another '19 TE offer: Billy Reviere, 6'4', 230, Plymouth (Wayzata), MN
  7. While I agree that it would have been great if the players would have received rings. A couple of important facts: -- For a good quality ring, they would have cost at least $200 each. There were about 125 recipients (100 players, 15 coaches (including grad assistants) and another 10 others (trainers, equipment managers, admin, etc.) With UND's athletic programs already facing major financial challenges, they apparently felt that they couldn't find an extra $25,000. I do think they could have put out an APB to CC members and FB alumni and the $ could have been raised but they elected not to do so. -- I think allowing players to buy their own rings may have caused more chaos in the locker room than not providing them. There are a lot of kids who probably couldn't afford a ring. Yes, the majority of them receive COA funds. But many don't and some walk-ons contribute considerably more than a scholarship player (redshirt freshmen, etc.). I think some kids having rings and others not would have been a big issue!
  8. Go to this site's home page. At the bottom of the page, click on Wiki. That will take you to listings of prospects, commitments and signings for FB, M & W BB and VB. I would guess that UND is not even close to being done making offers.
  9. Two new offers: DE Zach Petersen, 6'5", 225, Eldridge (North Scott), IA Has offer from IL WR/DB Rico Payton III, 6'2", 180, St. Louis (Lindbergh), MO Has offer from SIU (some sources have him already committed to SIU)
  10. I believe the athlete has the ability to earn their degree in summer school after his four years at a school. That benefits someone who is only a few credits short after the spring semester.
  11. That sure might be the case but you wouldn't think that they would know that already - at the start of this season!!
  12. Interesting - thanks for the info!
  13. Geno with 2 FTs with 3 seconds to go. He had been 1-5 before that.
  14. Tie game - Troy is burying treys!
  15. Wow - Geno now with 24 and UND up by 10 with 13 minutes to go!

    Pluto tv

Interestingly, when I access Pluto through the UNDsports.com portal, it is consistently lousy. When I access it through the Big Sky website, it works fine! I don't know if that is a fluke or if the method of accessing it can make a difference.
  17. Any idea why Hazekamp hasn't signed or, if he has, why it hasn't been announced? There was an article in the Sioux City Journal as recent as 10 days ago saying he planned to sign.
  18. Former Williston standout signed with UC-Davis.
  19. Definitely not a big deal but all recruiting services consider the year a prospect graduates from HS or leaves a prep school/JC as the recruiting year. Hence, all recruits being signed now are '18s. "17" is included because the kids can actually commit/sign in '17. Again, not a big deal!
  20. Another signing - many thought she was the best defensive player in NE as a junior...
