  1. I just went back through it again and I did miss a couple UND players. I also rechecked the Bison roster and the 22 is correct. The point remains the same. There are a total of 17 ND players (13 at SU) on the two-deep rosters of the two schools. ND does produce FCS talent - we need to work hard at getting more of it!
  2. The "Lets Help Bubba 2" site will be up and running in about 10 days. They need a couple of internal approvals that are taking a little time with school just starting. We will first look to raise the $3k for the ankle braces and then move on to the $5K for the video update.
  3. It is good to see us recruiting more ND kids but we have a long ways to go. Looking at SU's two-deep opening season roster, six of their 10 offensive linemen are from ND. A summary of rosters: UND NDSU ND players on roster 11 22 ND players on two-deep 4 11* * 13 if you include special teams I fully realize that it will likely be awhile before we start winning many head-to-head recruiting battles with the Bison but the sooner the better - there are good FCS players in ND!

    UND-MVSU

Some random thoughts about the MVSU game and the season in general: While I agree that MVSU has been lousy the last few years and that we should win this game quite easily, we must remember that we were 3-8 last year and are playing a lot of new players (especially QB, PK. long snapper, etc.). I expect an easy win but I also expect a lot of mistakes along the way - it may not be pretty!. If this happens, I hope too many UND fans don't get down on the team this early. Again, we were 3-8 last year and MVSU will likely be somewhat improved this year. I am a Bubba fan but his team did quit at times last year. With all the injuries at critical positions combined with the lack of depth at those positions, a so-so season wasn't overly surprising. However, I was quite disappointed in our effort at times. This surprised/disappointed me - I didn't think we would see that from a Bubba-coached team. Special teams are a concern for me. Although the reports from fall camp have been fairly positive, I hope Leach can handle the PK job well. It appears he will do a great job on kickoffs but his FG accuracy is a concern. Hopefully, I am wrong on this. A true freshman long snapper is also not ideal. We have been blessed with the last two LS we have had. They came in as true freshmen and handled the job well throughout their careers. Hopefully, Hinders will do the same. I share most everyone's concern about our offensive play calling. No need to go into depth on that as it has been discussed at length. I just hope that it improves this year. If it does not, it will likely be another frustrating year! Also, along with everyone else, the OL is a question mark. Hopefully, we can stay healthy and a couple of underclassmen will be pleasant surprises. It appears a lot of thought/effort has been put into enhancing the tailgating and gameday experience. Hopefully, it will result in increased attendance by students and fans in general - and that they stay until the end of games. While not as outspoken as UND-FB-FAN, I fully agree with him that we should be challenging for a conference title (I realize this won't happen for a couple of years) and playoff spot every year. We cannot be "OK" with mediocracy - in any UND sport! I think we are in pretty good hands now with Chaves running the show. He wants to win, not just compete! I expect a 7-4 record this year. It could be better but it certainly could be worse as well. Tonight: UND 48, MVSU 13
  5. Wow - that is quite a story! Great respect that that young man!!!
  6. Krogmann will play for Ben at UNI.
  7. I will post the link along with instructions as soon as the site is ready.
  8. As noted above, we are moving forward with this fundraising effort. I think your idea is great. Personally, I don't know if I have the time (mostly not having the expertise) to set this up. If someone if interesting in assisting with this, that would be great. Let me know - thx!
  9. After taking a look at last year's results, I had forgotten that we quite easily surpassed our $5K goal with $6,700 raised. We will proceed with this with a goal of first hitting $3K for the ankle braces. Hopefully, we can raise that quickly and then move on to another $5K for the video upgrade. I will provide the link as soon as it is available along with the rather simple instructions. As a reminder, all contributions are tax deductible. Thanks for your interest in helping our FB program.
  10. Yes, if we move forward, a link will be set up. It takes a few days to do so.
  11. The response to my initial post has not been overwhelming. I have talked to Bubba and he sent me three needs that are not in his budget. His summary: 1. It costs us $5000 for a video upgrade so players have access away from the stadium. 2. $25,000 for a weightroom upgrade (velocity training.) It applies to in season lifting and last month before the season. a. This equipment gives immediate feedback to staff and the athlete how fast they are moving the weight. b. Difficult to do with the naked eye, this equipment is attached to current weight racks 3. We also looked at getting the entire team ankle braces that they would wear. Many guys are not getting taped. This would be about $3000. We obviously would not be able to help with the weightroom. Someday it would be nice for SS.com to be able to do these kind of things. I understand that members of other college fan websites (including FCS schools) do raise a significant amount of $ for their schools each year. I would think that we should be able help with the video upgrade or the ankle braces (maybe both). l would like a little more feedback before proceeding. Either post your thoughts here and/or, If you can give me the $ amount you would likely contribute, PM me. Thanks!

  15. I got it, MS! Thanks!!
  16. You guys really don't need to post an amount on this thread for everyone to see. However, it would be good to PM me with an idea of how much you might be able to donate. That will help me determine whether we should move forward. Thx!
  17. Those who are new to the SS.com board are likely not aware of our efforts a year ago to assist the football team with the purchase of knee braces that were not included in the budget. The launch of that fundraising effort is above. While the contributions of those who assisted last year was greatly appreciated, the response from SS.com members was not what had been hoped. Some OL alumni were made aware of our efforts and helped us reach the $4,500 goal. The purpose of this post is to gauge the level of interest in another LET'S HELP BUBBA fundraising effort. If there appears to be enough interest, I will again talk to Bubba to see what the greatest need is this year. We really do not need to debate whether certain expenses should be included in the team's budget. The majority of us agree that most of the athletic programs at UND are underfunded. The situation "is what it is" and whining about it will serve no purpose!! Feel free to respond here but I would suggest you PM me if you are able to provide a $ range that you could likely donate. We would again make sure that donations were made on UND's Crowdfunding website to ensure all are tax deductible. Thanks!

    2018 Season

There was nothing we could do about it. We were leaving the conference not that long after they did us a favor by allowing us to join a few years ago. BSC didn't want a conference championship or all-conference honors to go to a school (or its players) who decided to move away from their conference. Although I certainly wish our kids were able to earn those honors, I don't blame the BSC for making that decision.
  25. A couple more guard offers: PG Semaj Henderson, 5'11", 150, Downers Grove (North), IL Has offers from NIU & WIU SG Ryan Wade, 6'1", 165, Ann Arbor (Skyline), MI Has offers from Air Force, Sam Houston St, San Diego, Toledo, Kent St, Detroit & CMU
