Very surprising!! Very disappointing!!
-
I agree - let's get back to recruiting discussions. I assume we had a bunch of recruits visiting this weekend. Anyone know who was on campus?

14 y/o Sioux Fan diagnosed with leukemia
UND Fan replied to Bob in Wisconsin's topic in Men's Hockey
That is outstanding - thank you on behalf of all Sioux fans! -

Count me in - let us know where to send a check! -
I don't know but I am quite sure he wasn't offered a full ride by UND.

On the other website, he says that he is going there this weekend. He started a thread noting where various players had commited. He definitely changed his own status from UND to NDSU!

This kid is very active on the MinnesotaPreps website. He certainly does not appear to be very mature (I realize most 17-18 y/o kids are not overly mature). For that reason plus the fact that he said he wanted to kick as a true freshman, this doesn't surprise me at all. I don't know how big of a loss it is - he didn't punt last year - I don't know why. We need a punter, not a place kicker - not for a couple of years, at least!

Wow - those are a couple of very full days! It is very difficult to "stay sharp" meeting after meeting but that type of scheudle isn't too different than a college president's normal day! Based on my limited knowledge of all candidates, I hope Smith is the choice - and not just for athletic reasons! I think he would bring a lot of energy and positive thinking to the University!

Of course, we all have different opinions but I would prefer that there be no Bison fans on this site because it normally ends up as a bunch of smack - with many UND fans talking as much smack as Bison fans! Personally, I consider it a waste of my time and very frustrating to have to wade through all this crap to find genuine discussions about UND sports. In my opinion, there is nothing really to talk about Sioux vs. Bison until we start playing each other again - whenever that is! SU fans - don't be too offended by my comment that I wish there were none of you here. Many of you are respectful and add good insight into some discussions. For the reasons I stated above, I never go the the Bison site. But if I remember correctly, isn't there a thread just for Sioux/Bison smack?

Thanks for the update and your thoughts! Based on your comments, I would agree that she probably isn't the right person to lead the university! What did she say about athletics?

Anyone know who was in for a recruiting visit over the weekend? I know there was a kicker from Apple Vally but I am sure there were many others!
-
Now down by 11 - not playing well!
-
Sioux are playing well tonight, ahead by 31 with a couple of minutes left. Langen has 26 points and 16 rebounds!

I watched a couple of tapes on Rosario on-line. It is really difficult to determine is mobility, etc. but he looked pretty darn good. He definitely is big (a couple of sites had him listed at 6'6", 328) - probably could stand to lose a few pounds. Per various sites, it appears that Boise State, Notre Dame, Oregon State and Washington all took a very close look at him so he must have more than just great size!
-
It certainly isn't worded that way but don't you think that Bakken meant that Mankato is being coached much better than they have in the past. I am not sure that he meant they were better coached than UND. If that is what he meant, he better get prepared for a lot of well-deserved flak!

I think there is often an implied "promise" that, if the walk-on performs well, there will be scholarship $ offered to him in future years.
-
As 82 SiouxGuy indicated, this is simply Dale's way of voicing his true feelings about UND and the fact that those feelings will never change! It is somewhat of a saying that long-time, loyal UND alumni and supporters "bleed green"!
-
A lot more money and a team that will not be going through all of the challenges that UND will face in the next few years. You can't blame a guy for taking on a new challenge while taking better care of his family!
-
Wow - I certainly didn't expect that either. While this certainly isn't good for us, I am very happy for Dale. He is a great coach and will do well there (and probably beyond there!). Carbondale is a town of less than 30,000 people but the area supports SIU athletics very well. There are tons of kids to recruit within a couple of hundred miles (St. Louis, Nashville, etc.). It is probably a great place to raise a family! Now, what do we do without an AD to expedite the process of naming a replacement??? I guess the conversations now begin regarding who will lead us going forward! I am sure it will be someone with UND ties but I am not sure it will be someone currently on the staff!

So - are you saying that you are fine with it if Coach Lennon packs his bags and moves on?
-
Does anyone know how Chappel and Murray (along with any other injured UND players) are progressing?
-
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that UND has nine games confirmed for 2009. I really know nothing more than that - not sure who or where! But it is good to know that we are that far along already!

Sounds like it might be between UND and NDSU for this WS recruit. DL Kyle Cavil (6-4, 240), Sr., Ashwaubenon Another prospect who has become extremely popular with college recruiters in recent weeks is Ashwaubenon defensive lineman Kyle Cavil. A Green Bay Press Gazette first-team all-area and first-team all-conference selection, Cavil has drawn a plethora of Division I FCS (formerly D I-AA) and Division II interest. Colleges sending hand-written letters include St. Cloud State, Minnesota-Duluth, Concordia-St. Paul, Northern Michigan, North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Illinois State and Minnesota State-Mankato. All of those schools have visited Cavil either at home or at school, and all of them, with the addition of Indiana, Iowa and Northern Illinois have placed phone calls. Cavil isn't just getting the regular old standard interest though. Official visits and scholarship offers have also entered the picture.
