I agree with other posters on here that I'd rather have UNO.

I thought Bob Joyce controlled the boards.

Not sure if this has come up as I haven't been able to read all of the threads on this, but you tell me which is worse: A) A coach that in the heat of the moment and on impulse flips the bird to a ref. B) A coach that has time to think about what is going on and after how many minutes walks onto and across the ice "in protest" or whatever her was trying to do. Don't get me wrong...I am not defending Hakstol flipping off a referee. He got suspended 2 games for that and he deserved to. All I am saying is that you could argue Hakstol's incident was more in the heat of the moment reaction (like dropping an F-bomb) and Gwozdecky had time to think through his actions before he walked across the ice. Could (and should) have Hakstol thought through his actions? Yes...again, I am not defending him. We'll see how Gwozdecky is judged and how his actions are remembered compared to Hakstol flipping a ref off - we all know how opposing fans like to bring that up.

HA...why do you say that? You think they went through all of this just to deny Bemidji State? Yeah, we'll end the moratorium, Bemidji State has the new arena coming, the CHA is likely done, etc., but once Bemidji applies we're going to deny them! They may not have the votes now, but you really think that once that building gets built that they won't be joining the WCHA? And once that does happen, you really think a Big 10 conference will start up? I don't buy it. I think Bemidji State and possibly 1 other team will join and form a 12 team WCHA.

I'd like to be the first to congratulate and welcome Bemidji State to the WCHA!

The only problem with this is that IF they meet up again this year, there will be no chance to properly pay Lucia back. Sure, they can hit him hard, etc...but they won't be able to risk taking a penalty or be able to drop the gloves with him. Too much at stake and can't risk putting your team a man down or getting tossed for a game when it comes WCHA Final 5 time and/or NCAA playoffs/Frozen 4! There's always next year - for some reason I don't see Lucia as a flight risk after this season.

They're doing a feature on Stafford and his love of music on the NHL network right now. Showed pics of him with Jordan Parise and he talked about how Parise is playing in Austria so they have a long distance relationship - they're still in a band together with a few other guys. Stafford played the drums, recorded it on his computer, then played it back while he played the guitar with it while wearing a big black '80's hair wig and big moustache. Pretty cool.

He is a great sieve, but not the greatest...there have been greater at Minnesota.

We'll see tomorrow night how much Stoa, or any other Gopher for that matter, will do about it. If tonight was Saturday night's game, there would have been an ass beating handed out after that, instead of the restraint that was shown.
-
I agree. I was very surprised (and happy) to see the Sioux's restraint after whistles around the net. Tomorrow night, that will not be the case. Michigan Tech next week. Any Gopher gets smart and it's on...unless the Goofer player runs and hides.
-
It was also a "Canadian-type of play"!

So after all of that, here's how much sense the idiots on FSN make: Mazocco thinks Hextall should get an interference call because he was in the crease without the puck. Yeah, he was hit into the goalie, but that doesn't matter. Woog thinks that was a good job by the Gophers and that UND started it by running into the goalie.
-
Anyone just hear what Woog said about that "scrum"? Something about how the Gopher player should have turned around and popped Miller and that Miller is pretty courageous until someone turns around and stands up to him?!!!! WHAAAT?

That was REALLY good sticktuitiveness by Martens - and the Sioux. The best part was the close up on Kangas after the goal...he was looking out of the corner of his eye at the bench to see if he was getting the hook. Needless to say, not good sticktuitiveness by Kangas.

Blais was supposed to coach the 2005 team in Grand Forks, but Sandelin replaced him when Blais took the Columbus job. I also hope Blais gets another shot to coach this team.

3 years ago when Childress was hired if you would have been asked what record or how many wins in 3 years would be considered this to be a "successful" hire, I doubt anyone would have said they'd be OK with a .500 record.

It's funny you mention this. I was talking with those guys the night before they skated at University Park. We got to talking and I coached PeeWee's at the time, and Gretzky asked me if we had any icetime that weekend and if so could he and his kids could skate with my team. When he asked that I literally froze. I couldn't speak, and I think he knew why, so he chuckled and asked me again..."Well, can we skate with your team?!". Once I regained consciousness I told him that I coached in Fargo and I would drive them to Fargo and right back afterwards, and we also would not tell anyone so it wouldn't be a big spectacle - just a private event with my team. I think at that point he thought he might end up tied up in some dark basement somewhere, he said if I could find ice in GF they'd skate with us. By this time it was 11:00 at night, so the next morning we found ice, I tracked down Pascall to tell them we got ice, but he said thanks but no thanks...they had skated at University Park that morning. DAMN...I WAS THAT CLOSE!

A cool side note to this tournament and Team Canada with Fighting Sioux ties. In case you didn't know, Brad Pascall who played for the Sioux from 1988-1992 is the Senior Director/General Manager for Team Canada. I sat down with him, Wayne Gretzky and 2 others when the tournament was in Grand Forks and bought them a beer. I could hardly speak when talking with Gretzky. I'm not sure how long Pascall has been in that position or if he does it for any of the other Team Canada men's teams, but I know he is for the World Junior team.

I was in Grand Forks for the St. Cloud series in mid-December and Dagwoods/Overtime was closed. I don't know if there are any plans to re-open anytime soon. Finley played against Bemidji this weekend...I didn't see much of either game, but from what I heard he looked pretty tentative. Not sure how much icetime he got either.

Gary Kruzich from Bowling Green. He was 28-7-2 with 8 assists, 19 penalty minutes, a 3.31 GAA and .883 save percentage. Belfour, on the other hand, was 29-4-0 with 2 assists, 6 penalty minutes, a 2.43 GAA and .915 save percentage...oh, and a National Championship. Makes sense to me why Gary Kruzich was the 1st team choice while Belfour was 2nd team! 5 minute OT's are pointless...at any level. OT's should be at least 10 minutes.

Good thing they have the 7-25 Timberwolves showing on FSN right now vs. the 14-19 Bulls!
