Once it's over how long will you continue to wear the Sioux Logo

You mean like your boy Colin Campbell did with Scott Walker of the Hurricanes when he SUCKERPUNCHED Aaron Ward IN THE FACE? According to you, that is the worst thing ever you can do, and that Colin Campbell takes care of this, right? Your quote says:
-
As a matter of fact, you're wrong. There are players that play that way, and there are repercussions when they do. Someone on the other team can drop the mitts with them and let it be known that they are going to have to answer for their actions. In your opinion, that shouldn't happen. You say that players should be able to make knee on knee hits, use their sticks to hack, slash and spear and the player that is in the receiving end of that and his teammates should just "get over it". What I am saying is that there is a place for fighting in the game - and I'd say that the majority feel that way.
-
You are out of your gord.

And most fights start with the clock running. So only the very start of fights are OK (within the context of the game) but once the clock stops they are not OK. The Bertuzzi incident was OK because he never dropped his gloves. Even as he pounced on Moore from behind he kept his gloves on. As for the McSorley incident...slashing happens within the "context of the game", don't you know? DaveK already said that if I did that to him while playing he would get over it.
-
And the funny thing is...fighting is within the context of the sport of hockey!
-
Yeah, please don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that I like the thugs that all they do is fight, either. I can't stand when a player delivers a clean, hard check and then someone on the other team feels the need to challenge them to a fight. However, I do believe that fighting does have a place in the game. When Jarome Iginla drops the gloves - I love it. He's dropping them for a reason...
-
After years of watching DaveK make stupid posts on SS.com, I've now come to the very safe assumption/conclusion that he never played hockey as a kid and does not play men's league as an adult. To say that slashing, butt-ending and kneeing are OK, and the ONLY way someone can cross the line is to drop their gloves is F'ing IDIOTIC. That's cool that people are hockey fans whether or not they played hockey as a youth or even picked it up in their elder years - but there are just some things that people won't get if they've never played. Dave, I would love to play hockey against you and slash the $h!t out of you all game and then tell you "Well, at least I didn't drop my gloves". Then at the end of the game if my team was losing I'd come at you with a nice knee-to-knee check "in the context of the game", only I'd be prepared for it and you wouldn't. After the game we could shake hands and say good game, as all of those actions were done during the game in within the context of the game, so it's all good.

Dave, I get the feeling that I could show you a jet black cat and you'd say that the thing is albino.
-
You must have the best TV in the history of the world! You should be the spokesman for that TV company. I don't think anyone said that they would only watch hockey in HD but would not watch it in SD, did they?
-
People also didn't have cell phones in the 70's. If you have one now, it would be a struggle to go back to life without a cell phone. Times change, Dave.

Agreed 100%. I dropped them like a bad habit. The day I heard the NHL was going to be on Versus I called CableOne and asked how to get Versus...the conversation went a little like this: Me: Hi, I'd like to know how to get Versus, do I have to buy a package that is 1 step up? CableOne guy: We don't carry Versus. Me: Well, the NHL is on Versus and I would really like it, how can I get it or who can I talk to at CableOne about this? C1 guy: We don't have it and we will not be getting it. Me: Is there a survey I can fill out or talk to someone about CableOne getting Versus? C1 guy: We know our customers and we do periodic surveys (or something to that effect) and know what our customers want, I don't believe Versus is a channel we will be getting. Me: But I'm your customer and I'm telling you I want Versus. Isn't there somewhere or someone I can talk to about this? C1 guy: Nope. Me: I will now be on my way to bring all my equipment in and cancel my CableOne service. Ever since I've been on DirecTV and have been satisfied with them...however I would consider and will be looking into Midco once they get into Fargo. I really hope that once Midco comes to Fargo they take a HUGE chunk of CableOne's business.

It would suck to be Marian Hossa if the Pens win.
-
I'm not trying to convince myself...because I have no doubt!
-
So the Pens swept the Canes...shocking! Didn't see that coming at all. I didn't watch the game, but I'm sure the Canes put up a great fight...and yes, I am still bitter about the last series!
-
Pittsburgh would not have beat Boston in a 7 game series. Cam Ward beat the Bruins - MA Fleury would not have.
-
Carolina is horrible and it's no surprise that Pittsburgh will probably sweep them - or for sure win in 5. Yes, I know Carolina beat Boston and it probably sounds like sour grapes, but the Eastern Conference Finals would be completely different if it was Pittsburgh vs. Boston. No way Pittsburgh sweeps the Bruins...in fact, it would have been a Bruin victory in 6 or 7 games!

I have a buddy who grew up in the Twin Cities area, but his dad went to UND. Growing up, his dad tried to instill "UND values" upon him, but also since growing up in that area he liked the Gophers. So when we met (about 5 years ago, both of us in our 20's) he was both a Sioux and Gopher fan. It took me about 0.31 seconds to explain why you can't be both, and he understood, but unfortunately sided with the Gophers.

If we're going with this helmet, we HAVE to go with Cooperalls, too. Get rid of the breezers.

I didn't see last night's game or the cross-check, but the dumba$$es in the NHL offices (Colin Campbell) put themselves in a tough spot when they TOOK AWAY Walker's automatic 1 game suspension after the sucker punch to Aaron Ward of the Bruins. When the rules automatically say you get a game suspension for a match penalty, I have never heard of a suspension being TAKEN AWAY!!! If anything, the league usually tacks on more games, and they do it to excess so if it gets appealed it usually just gets lowered (say from 7 games to 5 games) - but the player still ends up suspended for a few more games in the end. How will the league treat Bayda's match penalty? It calls for an automatic 1 game suspension, but now they have the Walker precendent to deal with. I'm sure they'll have a real great answer to how this will be handled...I can't wait!

I wouldn't say Ovechkin is going to win the Selke trophy any time soon, but I also wouldn't say he's a huge liability in the defensive zone, either. We're talking about the same Alexander Ovechkin that absolutely destroys people with huge checks, right? In this past regular season, AO was +8 in 79 games played, while Crosby was +3 in 77 games played. In this year's playoffs, AO was +10 in 14 games played and Crosby is currently +6 with 14 games played.

Great article...thanks!
-
Crosby and company will be in the Stanley Cup Finals this year. I just hope that Chicago can beat Detroit and Toews ends up with a ring this year.
-
I think Pittsburgh will own Carolina in the next series. I personally think you're lucky that Boston lost tonight, or the Stanley Cup representatives from the East would have been the Bruins. I'll give Carolina their due...they won, Boston lost - and that's all that matters at this point.
