  1. Especially since everyone knows that if he would have made contact and kicked it in, the goal would have absolutely been disallowed. Turns out it got disallowed anyways, but there woudn't have even been a debate if he would have made solid contact when he kicked at it.
  2. After watching that goal, I took a step back and started to think about this rule. I have played hockey since I was about 5 years old, and played through the college level. This rule always seemed "right" to me, and thinking about it I guess I don't know why. Maybe the reason was just because that's how it always has been - you can't score a goal by kicking the puck in, and everyone accepted that as how it was. But the more I think about it, the more this seems to be a dumb rule. Imagine if it was illegal to kick the puck at all...you can't kick the puck to your stick, you can't kick the puck to a teammate. If you do, they blow the play dead and there's a faceoff. What is OK about kicking the puck at any time during a game, but it is not right or not legal if you kick it into the net? It makes sense to me that you can't use your hands to score or carry the puck - if you could the only way to stop someone would be to tackle them - but why can't you kick the puck into the net? If a defenseman ties up the forward's stick in front of the net, is there something wrong with them kicking the puck into the net? I, for one, think that this rule needs to be changed. We allow goals that ricochet off of a player's equipment. Heck, it's even a goal if the puck goes off the player's skate as long as he doesn't make a "kicking motion". So a player can change the angle of his skate to guide the puck in, as long as he doesn't kick at it. It just makes sense to me that if a goal is scored in any way except by throwing the puck in with your hand, it should be a goal. And realistically, how many goals during the course of the year would this affect? This year UND played 43 games. I'd venture to say that if kicking the puck in was allowed, this would affect maybe 5 goals max for or against the Sioux in a season.
  3. RYYYAAAAAANNNNN DUUUUUUUUUNNCCAAANNNN!
  4. They showed a shot of VandeVelde during the game with his helmet on and it looked like he didn't have one either. Maybe it was just tough to see through his cage.
  5. I agree...I have been a big Finley fan this year, but what the heck was up with him this past weekend?
  6. Congrats Denbo...I'll take Andrew Kozek.
  7. What would really be sweet is if someone printed up a bunch of green T-shirts that said: Moustache Rides...from Grand Forks to Denver via Madison These would be just as sweet as Gar's "Moustache Rides" T-shirt!
  8. Are you sure the Baron's tournament will have games at the Engelstad? I heard that they got some ice taken away because of the Word Curling tournament next weekend and that they were preparing the ice for curling, so the Baron's wouldn't be playing there.

    Brian Lee

I believe the original article the day after the game also said that Ottawa lost to Buffalo 6-3. Vintage Fargo Forum when it comes to hockey.
  10. So Joe Gladziszewski from INCH picks Miami over CC in the championship! Let's see...Miami is going to beat either BC or Minn, then Denver (his pick to win the Midwest regional) and then beat CC in the championship?! Wow, where can I sign up to get a job at INCH...sounds like they'll hire anyone! EDIT: He also picked Clarkson to come out of the East regional. What is this guy smoking? Maybe this is why I've never gotten into reading the INCH website.
  11. I'll be surprised if Kozek is not on that line this weekend - unless something official has been said about Miller being there and I missed it.

My, how a year in the AHL has changed Brian Lee! Brian Lee's Profile
  13. 1-1, 3:00 to go. I sense an Oshie goal at about the 1:30 mark.
  14. Yeah, holy crap that was loud when they scored!
  15. This was in regards to FSN showing the UND/DU fight from their last series.....replaying it for the 1,000,000th time.
  16. Steve Olson just made a remark about FSN showing the UND/Denver fight - "Get over it guys...it's hockey...you don't like it, do something else"!
  17. Ummm...sure...whatever you say.
  18. That was such a stupid comment by Masucko - but then again stupid comments from Masucko happen more often than not. Good thing Woog brought some sense to the conversation.
  19. Tonight I'm going with Kaiper.
  20. I don't disagree with that, and I don't disagree with everything that RedWing says, either. I thought the Simon signing was terrible. I just think you have to be careful what you wish for. I'm a huge Twins fan and sometimes I don't like their offseason signings (Rondell White, Ponson, Bautista, etc.) but in the end I do like the way they do things, for the most part. I'd rather have a team like the Twins here than a team like Tampa Bay, Baltimore (which spends gobs of money and nothing to show for it), etc. The complaining about Lemaire's coaching style is great, too. Keep in mind, he won a Cup in NJ, and NJ went on to win 2 more cups - say what you will about him not being there for the next 2 cups, but they were playing his "style" of game. Boring, the trap, whatever.....they won Cups and he took the Wild to the Conference Finals in their 3rd year as a franchise with all of the "mediocre" players the Wild had - I'm not going to argue with Lemaire's results. Again...careful what you wish for. You could have a coaching carousel with shi**y coaches, and the Wild could be a bottom feeder year in and year out. They've been pretty competitive and they play in a consistently tough division year after year. Could they do more in the front office? Yeah, I agree, but I don't think it's THAT bad. The Wild have been a successful team in their 7 years of existence.
  21. Gopher fans and Wild fans are 2 different things. How many games have the Wild played and how many have been sellouts - for a "mediocre" team might I add?
  22. Redwing - I completely understand why you dislike the Wild so much. I mean, after Norm Green up and left Minnesota and took his team with him, the Wild came back in 2000, have been to the playoffs 2 years in their first 5 seasons (1 year was lost due to the lockout), went to the playoffs in their 3rd year as a team, making it to the Western Conference FINALS in their 1st playoff appearance. On top of that, most people will say that Minnesota is one of the best places to play, has the best fans, etc. I'm certainly not saying that they have to be your favorite team (they're not mine), and I do agree that they could do some things differently, but it gets old listening to you spew the same junk in every reply concerning the Wild. Do you give them credit for anything? I guess on the other hand Minnesota could have gotten a team like the BlueJackets, that would have been great!
  23. Correct...they did not get in trouble for this because they knew JP Parise personally so they used that as their excuse.
  24. What possible argument could there be? Sure, Vanek is a good NHL'er, but nowhere near the level of ZPar. I see no argument here!
