  1. And yet people that actually are experts in healthcare believe that there is a difference between rural healthcare and healthcare in more urban areas. Actually, many differences. I think we can accept their opinions over the rantings of a wet-nosed college student attending an ag school that has no expertise in healthcare.
  2. Women's WCHA includes Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio State of the Big 10 as well as UND, Duluth and St. Cloud from the NCHC. All would have to deal with Title IX if those conferences added scholarship dollars.. Doing it for the women in the WCHA would probably not force the men of the WCHA into adding those dollars.
  3. Only fans believe that conference affiliation has anything to do with performance in games. Administrators and college presidents look at a lot of other factors in building conferences. And you are the only one that said anything about UND being just a hair below the level of a P5. The size of that hair is closer to the Grand Canyon. UND as an institution, and the UND athletic department more closely resemble many schools in the G5 conferences than either the majority of schools in the P5 conferences or the FCS conferences. If there is a reconfiguration of conferences and levels, and if UND is interested, UND will be part of the G5/Upper FCS group. NDSU would also fit in that category, and not because of their recent success on the football field.
  4. The NCAA policy says no Native American nicknames or imagery. That means zero, none, nada, not going to happen. The logo falls under imagery. As a part of the settlement agreement, UND agreed to follow the NCAA policy. They didn't just agree to quit using Fighting Sioux, they agreed to follow the NCAA policy. That means UND can't use any Native American nickname or logo of any kind, not the old ones and not any new ones. The NCAA has also stated that they are not going to approve any exceptions to this policy other than the ones that already have approval. There will not be any new Native American nicknames used by any NCAA member schools. It doesn't matter how many times you ask the question, or who asks the question. UND can not use any Native American nickname or logo if they want to remain a member of the NCAA, and there are no good alternatives to being a member of the NCAA. It is time to start looking at alternatives, not live in the past.
  5. Or possibly father?

    Trolls

    Dribble or drivel?
  7. If the basketball tournament only included 4 teams then Division I basketball would have a lot fewer teams. With 64+ teams in the tournament they can include a wider variety of teams. You continue to compare apples and oranges.
  8. If you know that, then why keep asking the questions?
  9. Because they want to, and since it's their club they can make whatever rules they want. No other explanation is needed.
  10. Sponsorships are usually multi-year contracts, just like TV contracts. Much of the advertising is sold well in advance of games, often as part of a package deal. No one knows who is going to be playing in a bowl game or a tournament game when the sponsorships or advertising is sold. Neither would be affected by a 1 time appearance by anyone. And attendance at a game doesn't normally have much to do with TV viewership. TV contracts are based on expected viewership, not on attendance at the games.
  11. The NCAA makes most of its' money from television rights, not from the games themselves. TV contracts are signed years in advance. They do not depend on the teams playing in individual games. In addition, most of the ticket sales for NCAA tournament games in football will be sold in advance, just like they are for basketball. The teams playing in the championship game will not affect ticket sales in any significant way. The NCAA Division I Football Championship game will be a sell out no matter who plays. Besides, the chances of EMU, or any school that would replace them, playing in a championship game are minimal. Neither EMU or Youngstown State are going to play in that game in your lifetime. They may have a chance of playing in whatever bowl games continue, the bowl games aren't going away in the near future even with a tournament.
  12. That doesn't increase the chances of EMU or a replacement school appearing in the College Football Playoffs. And it makes very little difference whether EMU or another school is involved, those individual schools are not going to affect the bottom line of the NCAA in any significant way. Your point was that the NCAA would benefit financially by replacing EMU, and you haven't proven that in any way at all.
  13. The NCAA doesn't get any money from local games during the regular season. The home (host) team gets the ticket revenue. All of the bowl games are filled with teams every year, so a different team with a winning record would just take the place of another team. We don't have bowl games that aren't played because they don't have enough teams. They aren't going to add bowls games just because there is another team with a winning record. Plus the NCAA doesn't control bowl games (although they are a partner in the BCS so they do get some of the revenue). Replacing EMU with another school would do little or nothing to the NCAA bottom line.
  14. I believe that the first restaurant in that building was the Red Barn.
  15. Anything heard second hand is hearsay unless you supply additional documentation. Much of what is posted on this forum is hearsay. It doesn't mean that it isn't true. It fits with Taylor's negotiating so far.
  16. The Alabama of the FCS??? I don't think I've ever read a more meaningless statement. That's like saying a team is the St. Louis Cardinals of the International League. Or the Miami Heat of the Developmental League. Were you able to type that with a straight face? Does Alabama have a history going back more than 120 years with either Idaho or Ball State? Has Alabama played more than 100 football games against either Idaho or Ball State? Are either Idaho or Ball State located in Alabama? Are either Idaho or Ball State similar sized institutions, run by the same governing body, as Alabama? Then you aren't comparing similar situations, you're just blowing smoke to inflate your own ego. The only ones that would believe that nonsense are your pals at BSville.
  17. There is no current deal. A deal implies that both sides have reached an agreement. Taylor has made an offer that does not meet current market standards for any FCS program. Name one FCS program that would accept a guarantee game with another FCS program for $125,000. Name any rivalry where one school would accept these terms from the other. He has made a low-ball offer to try and give the appearance of negotiating, even though he stopped actually negotiating several years ago. He has changed the terms of his offers on multiple occasions, including backing out of dates when they were agreed to by both sides. The emails have proven this behavior whether you want to accept it or not. His behavior on this issue has shown that he will not actually schedule a football game between the 2 schools. There are absolutely no signs of good faith negotiations coming from Taylor on this issue. And you continuing to repeat that UND should just take this deal is definitely nonsense, although there is plenty of other nonsense that has been part of this thread.
  18. Are you talking about the home and home series with Weber State from 2004 and 2005, or are you talking about the home and home with Weber State that is now scheduled for 2014 and 2015? There is no "return game" owed to Weber State. And continually repeating that UND should take whatever deal Taylor offers just to get a game isn't going to make it happen, especially when it is obvious to almost everyone that Taylor will continue to change the negotiations rather than actually book a game with UND. Does repeating nonsense over and over again actually work for you, ever? There are exactly 3 ways that a football game will happen between UND and NDSU. First would be a playoff game. Second would be if the North Dakota Legislature forces them to play. And third will be when Gene Taylor leaves NDSU.
  19. One of the ideas floated has been to set up a man camp for construction workers while they are building the new fertilizer plant.
  20. Apartment occupancy has been running at least 96-98% through the end of last year (I haven't heard more recent numbers). Anything over 94 or 95% is considered full. It was very difficult to find a 1 bedroom apartment last fall. A friend was looking for his daughter and it took weeks to find one. That's why apartment rents keep going up. Most houses sell very quickly in town because there is a shortage, especially in the lower price ranges. The business community is trying to attract more workers. There are more open jobs in Grand Forks County than there are people that could fill them. The housing shortage is one of the issues in attracting new workers to town. Home values are not in danger any time soon.
  21. Dr. James Andrews doesn't approve of it either, and neither do many medical experts that deal with young pitchers. http://www.cdispatch.com/sports/article.asp?aid=32765
  22. My guess is that they are waiting for the frost to go out. Then they can pour concrete. I don't think it is a very complex building, not like the Med School, so it won't take a really long time to build.
  23. IIRC the NCAA limit is 34 regular season games. If a team plays in Alaska they are allowed an extra 2 games (one of the main draws for having an Alaska school in your conference or playing in their tournament). Dave is right, 4 games against 7 league opponents only leaves 6 non-conference games. Non-conference games are important in Pairwise, more games gives more margin for error. The NCHC coaches thought that it was more important to have the non-conference games than playing everyone 4 games each.
  24. I saw them a few times yesterday, but no sign today for me.
  25. I started getting the same messages last night. Also, if I click on a post by someone I have on my ignore list the thread brings the post to the top of the page but it doesn't open the post. Both started happening about the same time.
