I was using the What If calculator and the worst case scenario I could get was UND tied for 4th even if they lose all 4 games. In all of those cases UND would have more conference wins than any team that they would be tied with. Schlossman posted his confirmation about the same time.
-
If conference wins is the tie-breaker, it looks like UND may have clinched home ice for the 1st round of the playoffs with the sweep.
-
Congratulations.

I gave you facts, sorry you can't handle being corrected.

They've had 3 or more power play goals in every month this season. They had a dry spell through parts of January through February.
-
They had 3 last weekend, plus 1 last night, so I would say this month.

Midco has Grafton on their list of cities served. Polar may just provide telephone service in Grafton. Of course the motel may have satellite instead. The game should be available some place in Grafton, but it may or may not be available at the motel.

Stanley Cup probably means more to them than the Bronze medal game at the Olympics. Not as sure about the Gold. That may depend on the individual.

Didn't USA Hockey decide that they only wanted 1 affiliate in town? They didn't want to keep dealing with multiple groups in different towns. Being affiliated with USA Hockey is pretty important. I'm pretty sure that's why they put all of hockey under the Park Board.

I don't know how many were bron in grand forks. Some of us were born here and have lived around Grand Forks most of our lives. I'm pretty sure that most people that are interested in sports really love winning. That isn't special to Grand Forks.

Don't forget Providence, RI, also within 60 miles of Boston. Providence hosted last year along with Manchester.

You must have missed my post about the tendency of quality teams to win multiple titles in a short period of time. It is consistent through all of college hockey history. It happens even in periods of parity. Probably something about teams with good players and experience in big games. But don't let facts and history get in your way.
-
Best team in college hockey by what definition? Others have more or the same number of national titles. Others have more total wins. Others have a better winning percentage. Other than a parochial view of college hockey, how are you defining best team in college hockey, and how does that earn UND more titles? It has nothing to do with lowering of expectations. It is a realization that there are other teams in a similar class, and that teams normally at a lower level also win titles from time to time. UND will win titles again in the future because they compete at the top level on a regular basis and their turn will come again as long as they continue to compete at that top level.

Same thing as BC did after winning the regional in Worchester, MA in 2006, they lost in the Frozen 4. BC repeated that by winning a regional in Manchester, NH in 2007 and losing in the Frozen 4. Both of those times were better than last year when they lost to Union in the first round of a regional in Providence, RI. Of course, the years they won titles in 2008, 2010 and 2012 were all years that they also played regionals in Worchester. BC played a regional in their own backyard 6 out of the last 8 years and won a national title half of the time. The only time they went away from home they lost in the regional. Playing a regional near home seems to be very helpful toward winning a national title, but it isn't a guarantee. BC did it half the time. Let me know when UND has had an opportunity at least 3 times without winning a title.

Skill, luck, some good leadership by upper classmen, in some cases some favorable opportunities such as BC playing regionals in their backyard and Minnesota playing a Frozen 4 in their home town. Some of the same reasons that UND has won titles in the past. You named 3 other schools that belong in the same elite college hockey group as UND (along with Michigan and maybe Wisconsin). UND has won multiple titles in a relatively short period of time 3 times. 1959 and 63; 80, 82 and 87; 97 and 2000. Denver did it in 58, 60, and 61; 68 and 69; 04 and 05. Minnesota did it 74, 76, and 79; 02 and 03. BC did it in 08, 10 and 12. Michigan did it multiple times in the 50's along with 96 and 98. Other schools like Wisconsin and Lake Superior State have also won multiple titles in short periods. This tells me that when a team wins a title there is a pretty good chance of winning another pretty quickly. That's how Minnesota, Denver and BC won more than 1 in a short time. UND's turn will come again.

Yes unrealistic. As Big A said, you can't compare the different eras. NCAA hockey has changed. More teams playing at a more similar level. Different type of play. As Schlossman pointed out in his column today, scoring is down significantly from when Gino and Blais coached, which means less room for error. But I realize that you don't accept any of this as the truth, you live in a world where UND is entitled to win national titles on a regular basis.
-
Not impossible. Definitely harder.

Sorry, I must have misspelled that. I didn't have my gfhockey ddikshinerra around.

Picking possibly the 2 best coaches in UND history as a comparison doesn't make Hakstol mediocre as a coach. It shows an unrealistic expectation for a current coach. Fun fact, thanks to his last few years with a losing record, Gino's winning percentage is worse than Hakstol's.
-
I would guess that a lot of teams have reunions, not just national title winners.

The games are available on americaonesports.com for $8 per game. America One Sports is the video provider for UMD. The regional Fox Sports stations like Fox Sports North are considered regional networks. They are not available on cable systems outside their region. That is the best way to define regional versus national. CBS Sports, Fox College Sports and other national networks are available on a variety of cable systems around the country, regional networks only available on cable systems in their region.

me·di·o·cre [mee-dee-oh-ker] adjective 1. of only ordinary or moderate quality; neither good nor bad; barely adequate: The car gets only mediocre mileage, but it's fun to drive. Synonyms: undistinguished, commonplace, pedestrian, everyday; run-of-the-mill. All time UND hockey record is 1393-920-132 for a winning percentage of about .600. That is from 1946 through the present, so it includes Hakstol's years. UND record before Hakstol is 1152-800-96 for a winning percentage just under .590. Hakstol's record is 251-128-40 for a winning percentage of more than .640. A mediocre record would be around .500. The UND overall winning percentage is above average. Hakstol's winning percentage is above the UND overall winning percentage. Haters might want to come up with a better word than mediocrity for the Hakstol coaching era. Either that or you're saying that all UND hockey before Hakstol was worse than mediocre.

Taylor sending an every other year contract that Faison rejected is part of negotiation. Taylor rejecting the same every other year contract and wanting more is moving the goal posts. Mr. Faison was publicly quoted in June 2012 (if I recall the date correctly) that he was sending an every other year contract to Taylor, and that it was what Taylor had requested earlier. If Taylor now wants a 2 for 1 contract, that again is moving the goal posts. Taylor is afraid of NDSU losing to UND, and is still holding a 10 year old grudge. He isn't going to sign any contract to have NDSU play UND unless UND gives away everything, and that isn't going to happen.
-
You've been told this whole story multiple times before. Either your memory is really bad or you are just being more of a troll than normal. If's called a negotiation. Faison wanted every year. Taylor said every other year. Faison then said, okay to the every other year. Faison sent Taylor the contract that Taylor wanted, but Taylor refused to sign it. Taylor changed his story and he moved the goal posts. That actually sounds like negotiating in bad faith, doesn't it?
-
Faison sent a home and home contract to Taylor more than 1 1/2 years ago and Taylor didn't want to negotiate it at all. Faison has to fill the schedule somehow, and if Taylor won't deal with him he has to deal with someone else. Besides, the UND deal with Missouri State is for 2014 and 2018. The UND and NDSU open dates didn't line up for 2014. UND still has open dates for 2015 and 2017, the same years that UND proposed to Taylor.
