  1. That's good news.
  2. He will have 1 year of eligibility left in 2016.
  3. Other factors might be seats available, and making the best connections. I would guess that it is hard to find a lot of seats going into Grand Forks on a Friday on short notice. As of right now, the only flight from Minneapolis to Grand Forks that has seats available next Friday is the last flight in that night. Fargo has more flights. Also, Fargo has flights on Frontier and United coming in from the west. Grand Forks has Delta from Minneapolis and a few Allegiant flights. But I would guess that the coaches, football program and school might be more important factors to prospective players than the number of flights in and out of town.
  4. Status as a starter or special team player shouldn't be a factor. If they are, put it in the policy. Family or health issues would be better reasons for approving an appeal. Otherwise, don't have the policy.
  5. According to the GF Herald article, it is Wyoming school policy to not give the release if the student is transferring to a school they are scheduled to play during the student's career. The article said it is written in the Wyoming student handbook. It doesn't sound like Bohl had anything to do with it, or a choice in the matter.
  6. You're correct. Once the clock starts they have 5 years to use up to 4 years of eligibility. I believe that there is an exemption for religious mission trips such as the 1 1/2 to 2 year trips that Mormons often take while in college, and for service in the military.
  7. UND will probably have to offset men's hockey with women's hockey. It would be a better fit for Title 9 and since the Women's WCHA has Big 10 and NCHC schools, they will probably approve it.
  8. There are some Braves with an 's', but I didn't see any Brave. Braves Alcorn State (Lorman, Mississippi) Bradley (Peoria, Illinois) Chowan (Murfreesboro, North Carolina) Goldey-Beacom (Wilmington, Delaware) Husson (Bangor, Maine) Ottawa (Ottawa, Kansas) UNC-Pembroke (Pembroke, North Carolina)
  9. They've been called North Dakota as long as they have had college athletics. That isn't a new development.
  10. University of North Dakota North Dakota. Does that really sound like a sports nickname to anyone? Really???
  11. The old Ralph was still a better hockey arena than most of the other college hockey arenas in use at that time.
  12. How many national titles did the program win before Blais was head coach? How many did the previous coach win? The program wasn't nothing when he was hired, it was just in a down cycle. If he could magically build a program from nothing he would have won a title in Omaha by now.
  13. How many World Series titles have the Chicago Cubs won in the past century? Winning can drive merchandise sales. So can marketing and branding.
  14. Horse is Nokota, a shortened version of North Dakota. Tribe is Nakota, just like Dakota and Lakota.
  15. Not so unique to birds if the team name is Tribe. The 2 together give a Native American connotation. If the team name is Arrows and the logo includes an arrow it might fly.
  16. 412 seats x increase of $27.50 per ticket x 20 games would come to $226,600 potential increase in revenue if sold by single game. Probably a little more than $180,000 if sold as season tickets.
  17. Probably 1.5 times season tickets for single game. Current price is $37.50 plus Ticketmaster fees for those seats. UND doesn't get much out of the Ticketmaster fees. I believe that students were paying $7 per ticket for those seats.
  18. A real rough estimate would be approximately $120,000. That is approximately 300 seats x an extra $20 per ticket x 20 games.
  19. I haven't seen anything, but it may or may not be an issue for them. Use of both lead paint and asbestos had decreased by the late 60's. They would have tested for both, but may not have to deal with either one.
  20. Colleges using Warriors as a nickname, I think UND can come up with something not quite so common:
  21. Most of the current players will be gone before they join any conference. They don't plan to be in a conference until 2017-2018, that will be the senior year for the current freshmen. They will recruit student athletes that they hope can be competitive in whatever conference they end up joining.
  22. I was in Section 216 until the UND players started coming over to high five the fans and I didn't see anything. I thought that all of the NAU players had gone to the locker room by then, or were headed in that direction.
  23. From that list, A is the most likely correct answer.
  24. The fact that Miami got destroyed the last time they played in Grand Forks may have had more to do with it. I'm guessing that they had a higher than normal energy level to start the game.
  25. Got it from the CDC website, not Wiki. I like to find answers to questions. Google is my friend.
