  1. Unfortunately the real Woog has the Gophers sweeping and that will no doubt counteract whatever Kharma PA and Dubay were trying to create.

    UND hosts SCSU

If they are going to make the tourney it could easily be at UNDs expense. Don't let them in and none of us have to worry about a freakin' threepeat.

    UND hosts SCSU

They are. I think they matchup well with teams like UW and CC that don't have scoring depth throughout their lineup. They will get into top line and goaltending vs. top line and goaltending type games with those teams and can easily win. When they face UM and likely UND they will likely be under siege when Carle isn't on the ice. I think they are extremely similar to the Gophers of '03-'04. Very dangerous, but will remain inconsistant. I don't think they are a tourney team unless they win the Final Five, however they are putting themselves in a position with great league play to make that possible.
  4. Come on Mory. You don't really think UW will sweep this weekend do you?
  5. Add BC and CC and your good to go. Truly the most important thing for UND is to take both games with SCSU this weekend. No ties, no losses.
  6. If I end up buying the tickets, I'd probably end up using them no matter what. It might be tough if UND didn't make it as well, but from all I've heard it's worth the trip.
  7. For the Gophers to pass UW they would likely need to beat them two of three possible games and pass them in RPI. Both would be difficult propositions. Even after that I think "Bracket Integrity" would have to come into play. UW playing their way down to the #4 overall seed combined with UND playing their way up to the #5 overall would do it. The only other sticky point would be if the Gophers pass UW in PWR (unlikely) and UND came in as a #13 or #14 seed. I think the NCAA would avoid the 1st round matchup and put Miami in GF and send UW east. That said I'm looking at tickets for the GF regional and will likely buy them this week.
  8. Your walking on thin ice here buddy. Hearing that Vanek actually had value a hockey team is rarely heard in these parts. Next you'll be saying Kessel does some OK things as well... Careful it's a slippery slope.
  9. At least two of the people in the photo post here at times.
  10. I think Debus would have had to undergo a complicated procedure to play goalie for POI.
  11. This weekend is clearly the key. I actually think the Gophers are more likely to get three points or more this weekend than they are to sweep @AA and home vs. UMD. To think that before '02 you actually had pity on the Gophs didn't you?
  12. If UND gets through their regional they will have earned it. Very likely a tough first round game followed by the Gophers in the regional final. Does anyone know how to avoid Ticketmaster charges @6.50 per ticket for the Western Regional games? Ducking the REA $3.50 per ticket would be nice, but I'm guessing there is no shot at ducking that.
  13. UMN 28 41 UW 28 41 CC 28 35 Denver 28 33 UND 28 30 SCSU 28 27 Mankato 28 23 UMD 28 20 AA 28 15 MTech 28 15 I have UW getting one point this weekend against the Gophs, splitting at UMD and Mankato and sweeping Tech and SCSU. If they get more than a point this weekend I think they lock the WCHA.
  14. I don't think anyone is really "happy" to face Michigan, unless it's in the semis.
  15. The Gophers would be the least decorated school at that regional with only five NCAA titles.
  16. No idea if it's true, but it seems like many Moorhead players have gone to SCSU in the past. Probably wouldn't be asked to go prove himself at Juniors by SCSU as well.
  17. It's hard to blame Connelly for tonight's loss. This won't be the last time their offensive depth is called into question this season. At least I hope not.
  18. How would you have like going into the Ralph back in '03 and having to view a sign making fun of Joey Martin after his horrible season ending injury against Wisconsin? I'm just going to assume you aren't going to make fun of guys who get seriously injured again and drop it. The section 13/14 students were far more embarassing this past weekend than the no-show, no-cheer corpies have ever been.

    Toews

I've heard many say the he certainly could go straight to the pros if he chooses. There are also many who believe he will go the "U" for a season. Ryan Sutter and Jack Johnson are two very recent, very comparible players who played a season of the college game. The only people that are dreamers are the ones that expect more than a season from him at the college level.

    Toews

The only part that was sarcasm was the cancer part. Toews is very good now and seems to have more of the NHL body than the other forward in question. If I were building a team I'd look at what I had or I was projected to have before making that first pick. Johnson had a great WJC, but like Kessel last year (when everyone was in love with him) he really hasn't played a full season against tougher competition while facing their "A" game every night. Toews and Kessel are both doing VERY well as they are spending seasons that many would still be in high school for. They both made hard decisions to grow up fast and get out of high school. I think both could use an additional season in college, but it's not like they wouldn't develop in a professional teams system just as well. The pressure on the team drafting each player may very well be too high for either of them to be able to resist.

    Toews

Toews should clearly be the number one. He has no holes in his game and would likely be the Wild's best player next season if they should manage to suck bad enough to get into position to draft him. As for Mr. Me a recent nhl.com article about the Gophers portrays him as a real cancer.
  22. It's because half of 2 and 3 are amazingly more mature than most students.
  23. Don't make excuses for the idiots' actions. If UND wants/cares to address Lamoureux, let them. Our student's should each receive a copy of the article.
  24. You guys can cry me a river. In '02 Experts were stunned about the West stays in the West, but not at all about the actual brackets. They went strictly by PWR. In '02 the western regionals were: #2 DU #3 UM #5 MSU #6 UMich #8 SCSU #9 CC DU played the winner of UMich and SCSU. The Gophs got the winner of MSU/CC. Yes the Gophers got "lucky" that CC ousted Ryan Miller and MSU, but the only teams who got real breaks that year were the eastern cupcakes who were very LUCKY to avoid the west until the championship game. Of course UMaine easily could have won that game, but Hauser gave them two weak goals and they didn't get the breaks/calls in the OT.
