  1. Now now. Just because your school doesn't like to count back that far doesn't mean others shouldn't. The John himself was on the undefeated 18-0-0 1940 team. I know your not a huge Gopher fan, but I'd think even you would understand that banner. You can wave the 7>5 banner as long as it remains that way, or in 7>4's case indefinately. But leave the interior decorating of our rink to us, we know how much you all appreciate being told what your arena should look like. If it's another measuring contest thing, I'd be more concerned with that unruly DU crowd than us meager Gophers fans.
  2. The top seed may have it's choice of locker room though. Could you imagine Kessel changing next to Oshie's locker? The humanity.
  3. Didn't you used to say this about the Gophers constantly until April of '02?
  4. Of course Ovechkin has been victimizing Canadian defensemen on a regular basis this year, so I'm going to give him a pass. Kessel earns his pass next year at the WJC.

    SIOUX @ CC

Michigan got bumped at Yost (I think by SCSU) a few years back, but of course the Ralph no doubt has plenty of quality locker rooms and wouldn't need to bump the hosts.
  6. The WJC is hard on the primary defensemen. Hagemo and Goligoski were shadows of themselves after returning from the '05 tourney. Hagemo was obviously playing hurt and Goligoski seemed to struggle defensively. If Chorney is holding up well that is a real testiment to him. He and Lee logged a ton of ice in some extremely physical games.
  7. There were a lot more people in my camp questioning the '01-'02 Sioux recruits/Kollar then there are questioning the '05-'06 Sioux recruits/Parise. It may not mean much to you all, but it does reflect something in my opinion. But those who choose to doubt Parise and a class with three 1st round picks could only do so with maroon glasses.
  8. One outstanding difference between last years Sioux and this years Sioux is the defensive play. Last season the Sioux were elite defensively in WCHA. Third in the league with 67 goals allowed trailing UW (64) and CC (66). When the Sioux started scoring consistantly at the end of the season, it was not that surprising why they were able to handle the Eastern teams and the Gophs. It was my impression that DU was very well suited to handle the Sioux forecheck with Carle and Skinner taking primary roles. This year the Sioux are currently sixth in league play defense nine goals behind the Gophs in fifth. This year's Sioux is a far better team than the '02 team in my opinion. Better goalies, better recruits, better results. After seeing CC up close I don't think they are any better than UND and UND has an advantage in nets. If UND makes the field they will have a good chance at the Frozen Four.
  9. The Sioux have a better chance of winning the NCAA title than the Final Five.
  10. The Ralph won't be empty. Not full, but no where near empty if UND doesn't qualify. Especially if the Gophers and Bemidji did make it.
  11. Nice work keeping it fresh.
  12. No. We are arrogant. You have halos. It's just easier that way.
  13. I posted this to the game thread vs. SCSU but it's more appropriate here. After the Gophers series I figured the Sioux need to finish 8-6 heading into the Final Five to be a tourney team. They are now 2-2 since then, but as you point out the SCSU games hurt. I think the WCHA will get four teams and either the Sioux or DU will be the odd man out. Needless to say that series is huge. A quick scan of the UND comparisons lost: Fairbanks - UND needs to take over TUC currenty 6-11-1 vs. 7-11-3. 50/50. BC - UND needs to pass them in RPI. Will be tough. BU - UND needs to pass them in RPI and maintain CO. 50/50. CC - UND needs to pass them in RPI and win the season series outright. Better sweep them to be sure. DU - UND needs the sweep. Ferris - UND needs to pass them in RPI. Should happen. Harvard - Lost. Miami - Lost. Michigan - UND needs to pass them in RPI. Will be tough. Mich State - UND needs to take over the CO. Will be very tough. Minnesota - Lost. Northern Michigan - Sioux need to sweep Tech. SCSU - UND needs to take back both TUC and CO. This is a 50/50. SLU - UND needs to pass them in RPI. Tossup. Wisconsin - Lost. Root against Fairbanks, Ferris, SLU, SCSU, CC, DU, BU, Michigan. Root for Bemidji in the playoffs. To be sure of a spot in the field a team really only can afford 10-11 comparisons lost. 12 comparisons lost will usually make the field and 13 comparisons lost requires no conference upsets and maybe prevailing in a tie-break with some other team with 13 comparisons lost. I think UND's RPI will end up deciding their fate. Using the trend charts at this site, UND will show a nice gain in RPI if they split with DU and CC. But they had better sweep the other opponents or they will be right back to where they are now. Of course to really improve their position UND needs to go 2-1-1 or better vs. the Colorado schools and anything worse than 2-2 and I think they may be off the bubble in the wrong direction.
  14. That opinion is widely held. Guyer looked hurt in the 3rd period as well, but apparently not bad enough to warrant a mention.

  16. Gophers are playing pretty good WCHA road hockey. Absorbing a lot of UW pressure and killing penalties. Another UW PP coming up.
  17. Two stupid Badger penalties took the wind out of their sails and the Gophs hung on. UW had pressure but couldn't get the puck through traffic the last ten minutes.
  18. Have your guys started the 3rd?
  19. 5-3 with 15 minutes to go. UW buzzing.
  20. Not that it matters, but the puck was struck VERY near to crossbar level. I'd say it was as clear as the Parise high stick pass a few years ago. It appeared the referees looked at replay and made their judgement. The problem is they are only supposed to get the overhead goal cam (remember the Oshie goal/no goal) and couldn't have possibly have overturned anything with that view. There may have been a recent clarification allowing them to use best available view, but I'm sure that's what tDon was discussing.

    UND hosts SCSU

I promise you'll be adding one or two additional after Sterling gets through with him. The guy is consistant.
