You and Mrs. Siouxman are welcome to visit anytime. Safety in numbers. I have to admit that violence on the rez is usually among acquantainces. The local PD know that I live alone and every week I am on the road usually alone. I'm trying to take in as much of the local country side, tourist stuff, etc. that I can while I'm here. What she told me before and again today is that drug dealers, mules (people who smuggle illegals) use the roads around here to try to avoid capture/detection/whatever. I should be more afraid of running into them on my travels than the local drug addicts. Sad world we live in isn't it....

I think Mace has real tight controls as well and you can get arrested for carrying it in some states. I don't know about pepper spray, stun guns or tazers. I do know that nothing short of a bullet, a big bullet, will stop someone on meth or similiar drug. Just talked to one of the local PD this morning. She said she'll take me out to the shooting range with her anytime I want. She thought it was a good idea that I get a weapon.

I always get a little ticked when student fans start complaining about no one else cheering. It may seem that way to you but I ALWAYS cheer and many people around me cheer as well. There are MANY times when the students are just sitting, drinking, socializing and not cheering or into the game just like many non student fans. When the students are sitting on their hands and letting the opposing fans' cheer take over the arena, I or someone in our section will start a cheer. Granted, there may only be a few cheering but we do cheer. I would like the complaints about the atmosphere at the Ralph to be more realistic than just 'only the students cheer'. There are many non-student fans who do cheer. It gets old reading the same complaints about us non-student fans when the complaints apply equally to students.

Now why would you want to go and do that? *digs out the red wig, shoe inserts and practices answering to Siouxmama*

And you're not getting them back anytime soon!!!

Hockeymom saw it in the after season, laupsided, I think, was referring to it during the season as was Siouxmama. I haven't been to a home game since the playoffs and have to admit, I was too excited to finally be home for some hockey (oh yeah ,and to see the kids) to notice if the place was dirty or not. My comments on the place being dirty were made in response to their posts.

Well, here we disagree. It most certainly does! The NC$$ also sees it as a separate debate. For example, the New Mexico Scorpions are not named after a Native American group but the arena in which they play has a very distinct Native American logo on it's front facade. It they were a college hockey team, the 'imagery' on the building would have to be covered up, removed before it could host a NC$$ event. Name, logo, mascot>> three distinctly different debatable issues. Just ask Wm and Mary about their feather or the U of I about their mascot. http://www.ncaasports.com/story/8706763

We have the most beautiful ($110 million) hockey arena in the world and the cleaning is done as 'fundraising'?!? And by all accounts, they're not doing a good job. Sorry, there's something wrong here. The cost of cleaning it should come out of the budget. My FSC fee just doubled this year! The Ralph is not just used as a Fighting Sioux hockey arena. It is marketed for other events as well. If I was a promoter and came to check out where my event was going to take place, I would NOT be impressed by a dirty venue!! As has been mentioned, fans should not have to tell the management that the place needs cleaning. They should be inspecting it and should see for themselves that the place isn't cleaned properly! Maybe new management is needed?!?

I don't work. I'm a janitor at the Ralph.
-
You're right. I was just wondering if the 'report' that Yttrium and Hockeydude said was pending was made public. I digressed.
-
You are correct. The definition of a mascot has no bearing on the nickname or logo debate. It does have a bearing on the mascot debate.

I'm a janitor.

I just went through the entire thread and didn't see any name, gender, nationality, state of residence, NOTHING, that someone posted that said "THIS IS WHO DID IT!" There was a lot of speculation, and joking about it. So how can there be a 'Plantiff'? Ridiculous!!! I believe there was a narc based on what my son told me. He worked as a bouncer at a now closed bar. He said they always knew when someone called the cops on a minor (they do manage to sneak it with those borrowed ID's) because when the police officers came into the bar, they zeroed in on the minors who were ratted out and didn't bother with anyone else. The bartender at his old bar told him that is what happened at Judy's. I can't believe someone read the thread and said, 'They're talking about me!! I'm going to court.' Geeze Louise, that is some self absorbed, narcissistic, .... Never mind, I'm going for more coffee. Oh, oh!!!! I posted a list of suspects!!! Is someone suing me?!?
-
I agree. No one should have to tell them to clean the arena. Unfortunately, since the joint is not getting cleaned, someone has to tell them. As I write my check out for my season tickets, I believe they have the money to pay for cleaning. If the Boy and Girl Scouts are cleaning for money, they should be fired. Don't care if they're cute, sweet, have cookies and are honest, brave and will help me across the street!! Fire their azzes and hire a cleaning company that has accountability!! *ooo man, I gotta get me some coffee*
-
So, did anyone call the Ralph and say, 'Clean up this mess!!!'
-
GK has another forum. Don't bother reading this, it's 20 seconds you'll never get back. I've avoided these links but for some stupid reason read this one. Must be 'cause the coffee's still brewing.

I remembered these posts from the old, now closed Oshie, Toews, Bina trouble thread. Were any reports released??
-
Nope, we just thought it was stupid.

I have to disagree. Some students may get the message. Especially if Jon is sincere and tells them that he is not going to drink illegally again and doesn't. There's a lot of hero worshiping in the younger age groups. Having Jonny talk to a group of grammer-school and possibly middle school classes will have an impact on some students. Any older then that the likelihood of it is less likely.

I watched on a clip about the news on MSN video highlights. I still have remnants of anxiety, anger, helplessness and fear from ten years ago. Ten years............

Let's see if we can word it so 'hockey camps' are games played by the Fighting Sioux in the 2007-2008 hockey season and 'hockey camp attendees' are the players on the teams they play against.
