Friday night at REA. Edit: Sprig - yes & yes.
-
Just saw on POI that Ryan Potulny is out four months with a knee injury. While it stinks to lose any player I feel really bad for Ryan & Grant, the one year they get to play on the same team.
-
My guess is nothing happens until spring and folks start missing Twins games. Until then, I'm afraid the public outcry will me minimal and nothing will happen. They only other group that may be able to raise as big a stink as Twins fans will be Gopher hoops fans. Now would that be an interesting alliance....MN basketball fans along with SCSU & UND hockey fans.
-
The only thing the Gophers are searching for is points......and maybe some team defense.

Sprig - Here is my comment on the call/non-call Friday night. I agree, Schmitt had no idea what to call. My only thought is this: If he blew the whistle it's because he lost sight of the puck, and at that point it is because he thought Greene had it in his grasp. Based on that there should have been a penalty and/or penalty shot. However, if replay would have been used I agree, Greene did not have the puck in his grasp (despite his best effort ) and thus no shot - but this means the whistle was blown early. I will be interested to see if the WCHA has an opinion on this as it's an unusual set of circumstances. One question, is replay used in WCHA regular season games or only in the Final Five? I don't recall seeing it used in the regular season. Please note, I am not making any claims a goal there would have changed the course of the game, given the Gophers momentum, yadi yadi yadi. It's over with and somehow it appears Schmitt possibly got the call right - but did so accidentally. I am just offering a perspective. One thing for sure, Green traveled! jk - I believe MN's 4th line in 2002 was O'Leary, Flemming, & Waibel. Senden graduated in 2001.

Hey guys, just wanted to say congrats on a well earned sweep. I could not watch Saturday's game so I've kept me yap shut. I sincerely hope the Gophers noticed how the Sioux played the game with desire and intensity this weekend (at least Friday) and learn by example. Here is hoping our series in January has something more on the line other than pride.

You know I almost said something about our forwards not helping in the d-zone (or neutral zone or at times in the offensive zone...) but figured I'd not bore you. Anyway, I could not agree more. Spehar clones might be a little harsh, but not very far from the truth. It's still a team game and MN so far seems to think it's only an individual effort.
-
I disagree. MN's biggest weakness without Ballard & Harrington is its inability to make good outlet passes out of its d-zone and Harrington & Ballard are head and shoulders better at this than any other MN d-man. Plus I'd argue Harrington is MN's best defensive d-man - so he was missed terribly.
-
I was very impressed with Smaby & Stafford. Very impressive. First time I've seen the Sioux this season and man are they fast - especially when they're after a loose puck.

Maybe Lucia is still upset ZP made such a hasty decision and he secretly blames tREA.

He has a valid point. I consider UW a bigger rival, but still thinks it stinks there are years we do not play UND four times a year. I may consider UW our biggest rival but the history of this rivalry is second to none. Personally, I'd rather see more WCHA league games. The Big Ten allows its teams to each have two permanent rivals (MN has UW & the 'eyes) and I do not see why the WCHA could incorporate that into its schedule. Well, I'm sure there is a valid reason, like total number of game limitations, but you get my point. Plus, some poor team beside MSU-Mankato would get stuck with UAA every year.

Don't you?

Goldy was let go after last season. Waaaaay to yappy, IMO.
-
Put me into the love to watch college hockey category. I hope this whole Victory Sports Channel thing materializes soon so I can also watch its WCHA game of the week.
-
Me too.
-
Look for the Potulny boys to have a good weekend.
-
Not me. The downside of coaching my son's team.
-
UND 7>MN 5>SCSU 0 Because you know they will be watching...
-
It's the irony IMO. MN and it's fans have been ripped for years for the all MN player thing. We get few players from ND and they're traitors. I find it very humorous. And trust me, I understand. There is a long list of oustanding players from the Twin Cities who have put on the envy green jersey from the NW.
-
Ballard: Minor sprain - 2-4 weeks. He will be fine. Harrington: Not sure, but from what I've read he's questionable for the upcoming weekend.
-
Wow, ripping on players for leaving one state to play in another? Whooda thunk I'd be seeing this on a UND board and not a MN board. My how times have changed....
-
NO!! I dont!!!! la la la la la la.....

I somewhat surprised you guys get so worked up over these two clowns. The whole show (to me) is one big inside joke that is neither funny nor entertaining. They are basically just fallout due to the Body becoming guv. That being said.....they are head & shoulders above the dope that follows them. Ug, is Cole a tool.
