Just watched the video, Jones made the initial pass to Watkins out of our zone. Watkins carried it in the Minnesota's zone, lost it. Porter picked it up and had it poke-checked away. Watkins grabbed the puck and fed it back to Porter, who did the rest.

Once again, THETRIOUXPER is always right. Michigan Tech weren't our first victims, but other than that, THETRIOUXPER hit the nail on the head. Bottom Line: Have faith people. Look what happens when you do. Never quit on the Sioux. Never. As the great Jimmy Valvano said: "Don't Give Up. Don't Ever Give Up."

Wednesday, the 28th, they will be announcing the Hobey Hat Trick of Finalists.

Oh yea, I forgot about that whole transportation thing. It's Over-rated anyways. Anyways, I'm driving and this year, I estimated it will cost us $160 for gas round trip.

Having been to the Frozen Four the last 2 years as a college student, I would guess-timate that it will cost you approximately: $150-200 for tickets $100-150 for hotel/person(more people, the better) $100-$200 for alcohol(should you drink) $100 for extras(low-balling that) Grand Total: $500 or so for a Frozen Four experience

SIOUX VS GOPHERS - LOSER GOES HOME, WINNER TO ST LOUIS
LeftyZL replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
According to the Herald, it was 49-30 on face-offs. So 5 out of 8 times UND started with the puck first. That's huge. Also, Toews was 21-12 on face-offs, VandeVelde 12-7 on Face-offs, and Kaip 7-3 on face-offs. I just couldn't believe that Wheeler got to keep taking draws for Minnesota in the defensive zone when the announcers said he had only won something like 3 out 12 or 15 face-offs that whole game. Why wouldn't you put your best face-off guy out there for the UofM when the face-offs are in your zone in OT? -
St. Louis Hotels Here's the hotel page for deals with the NCAA tournament. Some really good deals out there. We're staying at the Renaissance Grand Hotel on Washington Avenue.

Quick Question for anyone out there...I just bought tickets on Ebay for my girlfriend and I for the Frozen Four and was wondering what the face value of the tickets cost anybody out there. I can't see a price on any tickets that I try to look up. I paid $320 for 2 tickets which includes shipping. Anyone?

I can't believe Skille wasn't drafted. I'd take him over a handful of guys on that list. He goes un-noticed because of the system he plays in. He was single-handedly generating chances against St. Cloud on Saturday for himself and his line. I've seen him a play a few other times this year as well as last year, but I was extremely impressed with him in Saturday's 3rd place game. That guy will be a stud in the NHL next year, assuming he goes.

Maybe that just shows their(The fans booing) lack of knowledge of the game of hockey. The fans that were booing when Lameroux when he was announced as the All-Tournament goalie obviously don't understand the game or were just booing either because they were A)mad that Briggs/Frazee didn't get the award, B)were just too drunk, or C)booing just because he was the Sioux goaltender. If you know hockey, you know that a goalie that gives only plays 1/2 the games with relatively the same numbers is not going to win against a guy that has played in both games with relatively the same numbers. It's pretty simple.

A Weird story, and I haven't heard it all yet, but the 2 Sioux fans that got kicked out were because they were fighting the 3 Gopher fans apparently. I know the 2 Sioux guys, but I didn't see what happend and haven't had a chance to talk to them. I just know there was a fight that started to break out.

The NCAA scheduled 3 cities in a row to host the Frozen Four that have major breweries in their town. Who knew that the NCAA was looking at Fighting Sioux Fan's needs? 2006-Milwaukee(Miller Brewing) 2007-St. Louis(Anheuser Busch Brewing) 2008-Denver(Coors Brewing)

Exactly, that's why we need either Minnesota or St. Cloud to win tonight. No team has ever run the gauntlet(aka playing the Thursday night game), and I can't see Wisconsin doing it this year.
-
You can't compare an entire day of basketball games(16 games on Thursday and Friday) to 1 game of hockey. Where's the logic?
-
I don't know how everyone else feels on this issue, but I am going to be rooting for either St. Cloud or Minnesota to win their game tonight. If they both happen to lose, that bumps Wisconsin automatically into the semi's, and I don't want them to only have to win 2 games to get into the NCAA's because Wisconsin can do that. Winning 3 games is a completely different deal. I don't want to see Wisconsin in the national tournament at all. If they have to play on Thursday and then play UofM or St. Cloud on Friday followed by a potential game against UND on Saturday, I just can't see them winning all 3 games. They are just too damn scary of a team for me.
-
For this first playoff series, I would say they are a little below the price for a regular season game. I believe the prices during the regular season were around $23-$25, while for this weekend's series it is $20/game, or $40 for all 3 games.

Somewhat relating to this topic, but I was at work this morning and Mr. Troy Jutting came into my work and I started talking with him about the game last night. I said "What are you gonna change in your game plan for tonight's game?" His reply was "We need to figure out how to not get our asses kicked again." Made me laugh.

Winning the League tournament gets you in, not winning the regular season.

A- It's not fair to compare a sport that is played in relatively the Northern half of a country compared to a sport that is played across all the states. Obviously, there are more people that follow basketball because basketball is played anywhere, unlike hockey. B- You're going to bet that the Mid-Con Final between Oakland and Oral Roberts received higher ratings on ESPN than the Frozen Four Championship Game between Wisconsin and Boston College last year? Conference Title vs. National Title? Hmmm....I'll take the bet. Wisconsin-BC on prime time (in Milwaukee, Wisconsin I might add) vs. Oakland and Oral Roberts(In Tulsa). I know Oral Roberts is located in Tulsa, but I'll still take your bet. C- It amazes me the people that bash the sport of hockey. It's scary that because NDSU doesn't have a team some posters decide to continually knock UND's down. The reason it's bashed so frequently IMO is the people bashing have such a lack of knowledge and/or passion for the game.

Someone else posted on this website somewhere that he took a shot to the foot and broke a bone or two in it.

Personally, I don't think it matters what conference UND or NDSU are in. Time zones or not. Satellite capability or not. The reality is that in the regions where the host teams in the championship game are from will be where the majority of the viewers are from. Some(Most?/All?) of the schools in each conference are from small-market towns so they don't generate a lot of interest all together. I follow college basketball a lot, so I have heard of all of the teams in each conference. But to the average person, who has heard of IUPUI, Cenetary, Weber State, Portland State, etc. Most likely, the average person hasn't heard of these schools, and if they have, they have no idea where they are with the exception of obvious ones that have their city/state included in their school name. ESPN doesn't televise these games becase they want to. They televise these games because they have to.
