Oh I think fb & wbb will be okay - but lets face it most other sports aren't exactly lighting up dii. Poor sultan - always in a state of denial.

I'm not the one who started talking about what's wrong with NDSU womens bb team. And I'm sure as not worring about your bb team. Are you really sure for the last decade the sioux were better? I went back and from 94 to 04 it's NDSU 15 and UND 14. Think what you want about your womens bb team, but if they were as great as some seem to think then 92/96's next topic should be "why can't the sioux get out of the regional".

What has the sioux women done in the last 5 years - they haven't even gotten out of the regionals. I'm sure they have a good team, but are they underachievers or what? 92/96 loves to compare scores which doesn't mean swat, too bad they don't schedule some of the Mid-Con or BSC teams and really see what's up.

Do you really think that all your sports will move up at the same rate? NDSU womens bb has had some injures and some recruits leave. They'll be back. That struggling MN team has already beat the # 25 team the week before. The majority of our sports are doing well in the move. I notice that you like to focus on womens bb because they are having a harder time. That's a luxury that NDSU fans won't have as we'll have to focus on most of your sports in the move.

As you can see UNI was overrated and didn't make the playoffs.

First of all having been down to the NDSU - UoM fb game and talking with the Gopher fans they could care less about playing a DI-AA school in fb. At the time they all hated their coach. The Bison game had over 62,000 there, with very few empty seats. Appox 15,000 Bison fans attended and it was a great time. UND is 3-5 years away from being a DI counter, and no DI school will schedule you unless you count as a DI game. The Gophers have NDSU in 2007, Montana State in 2008, SDSU in 2009. It's a bus trip so you get to keep most of the game guarantee. The Bison have Iowa State in 2008.

So your saying demand doesn't pay any part in whether a game is televised??

It boils down to what people want to watch. If WDAZ had the advertisers lined up they'd put all the sioux games on TV statewide. It's a money thing. Fact is the interest isn't there. The low turnout for the sioux fb playoff games indicates that your last statement isn't necessarily true. It's not whether it's the playoffs but who are you playing.

Good analysis - One factor overlooked - GF is a one college town and Fargo has 3 universities with lots of grads living there from Moorhead and Concordia. It would make a difference in some of the calculations.

It's not going to get any better next year either. The state wide interest in dii sports is at a all time low. Who on your bb or fb schedule do you think would be of interest to anyone but the die hard sioux fan? Look at your attendance this year so far. Next years interest will be worse. The move up can be hard at times.

You need to go back to all the 2003-4 posts and see what all your friends were posting about NDSU's move up. Then we'll talk.

I wasn't smacking the "other sports" at UND but I like how some can pick and choose which sports they think are important. NDSU has usually been more "well rounded" thoughtout all the sports they play. Some seem to delight in the fact women's bb is struggling. Well that's one program, how many programs will be struggling at UND when you have a full DI schedule?

If I was you I'd wouldn't be concerned about any of the DI programs at NDSU - all are doing better than expected with womens bb getting a slower start. I'd worry about UND's programs that perennially do poorly in dii. Like Womens SB, Volleyball, and track, and men's bb and track.

Then why did rt step down as AD of UND and start working for the ncc? Poor decision on his part?

Last FB home game NDSU 19,058 UND 5,023 - I think interest in dii athletics is at a all time low with sioux fans. Your right NDSU fb fans will be glued to the tube watching the DI-AA quarter finals.

Comparing strength of schedule between divisions is foolish.

100% Right - Fans want to see games that are competitive.

So all the presidents of the BSC secretly got together and told UND that they're in if they go DI? With no travel partner! Just UND all by it's lonesome, way out here.

Oh you forgot the best one - that UND will have a conference invite & money in hand before they announce they're moving up.
