Listening to the Skippies are you. The first clue is that he doesn't go to camp until next week. Relax, the Blues just reloaded with Tkachuk and Kariya so no full-court press is required.
-
One thing Brian Lee will get that he didn't at UND is demotions and bench warming when mistakes are made. It is a luxury that the Sioux couldn't afford to exercise and perhaps, like many other Pros, it is the type of lesson that he will respond to. I am off to watch both he and Blood in today's Senator scrimmages. I was relieved to see the Blues sign both Tkachuk and Kariya so that they won't have to pressure any of their forward prospects to sign on this summer. The local Islander's scout was gushing about how good Gregoire has turned out to be. I can't help but wonder if he shouldn't have been added to the team this season instead of Malone or Frattin. He may only be a one or two year player otherwise.
-
It is beyond rumor, if Garrioch says he is already signed. It will appear on the Senators' site after today's formal announcement to the media.
-
The moment I saw that LA had signed Preissing I knew this announcement was inevitable. Good Luck Brian, with Ottawa's lack of depth on D you will get plenty of playing time in Binghampton.
-
Could it have been me.
-
Okay but come back in a few years and compare his college career to Gregoire's and we'll see who you would rather have.
-
Yes he did at 21st overall but given Edmonton's current status and track record that is probably bad news for Cornell, maybe two years playing for them at best.
-
How interesting that he is coming to UND and the New Jersey Devils are one of the three NHL teams that have interviewed him.
-
Somebody has seen him play per this post: http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?s=...st&p=258522

The local sports media have opined that three key issues lead to the firing of Muckler as follows: 1. His #1 goaltender acquisitions and failures: Gerber and Hasek 2. The Arnason trade (which sent Bochenski to Chicago) 3. His draft selections
-
I still think they will sign him but we should know either way before the end of the week.
-
Nothing new to report on Lee but I did overhear some interesting talk at Brad Marsh's sports bar regarding Gollygoski. Apparently, the Pens are pressing him for an immediate decision. They want him to sign but if he doesn't they want to know if they will have him available as trade bait at this coming weekend's draft.
-
Any decision on Lee likely won't come before the end of the month. The GM, Muckler, has been fired as the owner, Melnyk, wants to keep the current coach, Murray, as his new GM. It was Murray as a GM who assembled most of the Ducks team that just won the Cup so Melnyk wants him at the draft table and making the trades and acquisitions for next season. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=211070&hubname=nhl

David Toews has been selected to attend the Team Canada U18 Camp in August. Based on his play at the Canada Games I will be shocked if he doesn't make the team. http://www.hockeycanada.ca/2/4/8/1/7/index1.shtml

No guess work involved The Pens need to build a solid D quickly before all that young forward talent becomes free agents. They can do part of it through free agency but will also have to do it from within.
-
Based on the article within this link it appears that young Ogopogo and the Islanders disagreed on whether he was ready for the NHL or required AHL seasoning. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=210193&hubname= To the several individuals you who jumped all over me about a week ago when I stated that the odds of Gollygoski going Pro were greater. Would you like some wine to go with the crow you're dining on.

Jake Gardiner??? - Who's a D-man I believe
-
Tickets are scarce and extremely pricey so I watched with the crazy crowd at city hall. The atmosphere within the city is absolutely electric.
-
Sorry Taz, but Pronger is a repeat performer and was extremely lucky to get only one game. I guess he has a free ticket to end someones career to a consussion or broken neck before he will get any substantial time off. The one game suspension also sends a bad message, as Ottawa's third and fourth liners could take out out one of the Duck's top players if the opportunity presents itself. It would be worth a one game suspension to take out a Selanne and Niedermayer with an elbow to the chin. The NHL couldn't give the offender any more than one game after this decision.

You must have missed the recent articles from TSN that were posted on this site. Specifically there are strong indications that Wade Redden is going to Edmonton via a trade during the off season. Specifically, his mother passed away recently and he would like to be closer to home to help his father out, and Edmonton is as close as you can get to Lloydminster Saskatchewan. The trade will also help Ottawa remain within their salary cap while picking up some decent prospects from Edmonton. If the trade is successful, there will be a very big vacancy in Ottawa at D
-
So what prize are they playing for, bleached perms?
-
Depending on the type of issues they always have the option of trading him for a D-man who is willing and ready to step in right away. But who in their right mind would pass up the opportunity to play on a team that is going to win the Cup in the very near term.
-
Sure there will have to be rehab and it may start with a stint in the minors. However, I also believe that the top D-man in the WCHA for any given year is ready to step directly into most NHL team lineups. How much minor league time did the likes of Carle, Preissing, Suter and Leopold have over the past several years? You are correct that money will likey decide the outcome anyway.
-
Absolutely, Look at how many signed D-men the Pens have in the D-man section, for those who don't want to read the whole analysis it is only 3. Look at the quality of the unsigned D-men (most of whom are unrestricted free agents) and consider what Pittsburgh greatest weakness was all season. They would like to be able to sign some top caliber free agent D-men unfortunately every off season very few become available and those who are typically demand top dollar. Therefore, it is stating the obvious that the team is going to have to look for solutions from within. Specifically, they have the top WCHA D-man Golly and the top D-man in the QMJHL Letang ready and able to go at a fraction of the cost for free agents who may or may not be available. I don't smoke but I do like my beer and Scotch. What are you smoking that you think they wouldn't try and sign him under the circumstances. Cheers.

I would say the odds are about the same for Gollygoski based on this TSN article: http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/columnists/...me=fantasy_news
