  1. I don't think so. I think it is more a case of the CIAU schools wanting to have a more profitable product. Attendance and facilities are also starting to improve and I would take CIAU hockey officials over those in the WCHA any day.
  2. Edmonton just signed the University of Alberta's goaltender in mid-season: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=225680&hubname= The big difference is that he will dress as Garon's backup and will be back in school for the start of next semester. This is an issue for the NCAA because Canadian Universities are starting to offer more competitive scholarships. University of Alberta is doing it in hockey and Carelton University is doing it in basketball. Think of how attractive this would make Canadian Universitites to potential DI hockey recruits, if you can jump up and play with the Pro team that owns your rights for a couple of games and return to your school team to continue your education and hockey development. This scenario could even drain some of the talent out of the AHL or ECHL.
  3. I wish I had kept the link handy, David Toews was ranked at #21 in the 18 Dec ISS player rankings for next years draft. As for Hextall, as a player he is exactly the same type of player as his Great Uncle so why wouldn't he also want to come to North Dakota and exterminate a few Gophers.
  4. It pains me to admit it about a Goof player but I thought he was one of the best players on the ice for the recent series, so it will be interesting to hear him explain why he would chose to bail on his team half way through the season. Perhaps he was somewhat skipping out on the academics and realized that the WJHC was only going to cause him to be further behind? I would say that pretty much puts the nail in their coffin for this season. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=225542&hubname=nhl
  5. I liked CE's comparison of this team to the 81/82 team, I hope we are still talking about the similarity come mid-April.
  6. I guess it wouldn't surprise anyone to learn that at least one of them might be a goalie. If this was from Saturday night I do believe that the taller recruit is a goaltender from the Selkirk Steelers of the MJHL, Matt Shenher. If it was Friday night it is someone else because he was playing. http://www.selkirksteelers.com/Roster.php
  7. Marto won't get many more starts with plays like that.
  8. Thank goodness Genoway was able to play tonight. Need another for some breathing room
  9. No need for any officials to decide the outcome of this one. In keeping with past history Wooger's goaltender will have a five hole big enough for Dean to shoot a beachball through
  10. Guys, Neoflex always posts negative and I have always suspected they are actually one of the trolls. Check out their post history.
  11. Great start, now go for the kill!
  12. Not a WCHA story but related to an earlier Hak assessment of Northeastern as a top 10 team, they reinforced themselves as the Beast in the East with a 4-3 win over BC last night.
  13. I am used to it by now. People laughed at me when I said Toews would be better than Kessel and this year many dumped on me when I said Frattin was the most complete forward of this years Sioux freshman crop. But he who has the last laugh. I have to add that I never would have expected UMD to surrender 8 goals in a game, even against the Sioux.
  14. As Popeye would say "How embarasking"
  15. Textbook redirect of the shot on that one.
  16. A very snowy picture.
  17. Need to make life miserable for Stalejock, he has had it too easy so far this season.
  18. Hak previously stated that he would have the goalie situation corrected by yesterday so has anyone heard who he has or will add?
  19. Good luck to him with the way CC's new goalie is playing.
  20. I am not expecting lots of scoring in this one. If the Sioux play their game and Lammy is on top of his look scores like 2-0 and 2-1 for the Sioux.
  21. I warned them in my UAA prediction but did they listen. http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?s=...st&p=267359
  22. Sorry but any other former Sioux player under the age of 20 didn't and doesn't even come close; however, I will concede that this team may be missing some of the fire your favorite player brought to each and every game.
  23. Toews, he is still only a teenager and would have been even more dominating this season.
  24. Bucky needs a liver transplant and Goldy needs a good shrink.
  25. A similar picture is on this month's Beckett magazine for hockey collectors.
