Seems to work at my family gatherings As for me being rumor police, I normally dont care I have been around too long but considering what came about the last time Tyler was an issue (4 alarm flamefests on multiple boards and lots of speculation on his health and attitude...much like in here) I just figured it would be easier to wait until he was actually dismissed before any board explodes. In all seriousness I was not trying to tell you how to run your board or whatever I was just making a suggestion. I apologize if I offended anyone. As for my post count...way back in the day I posted on here for a few months, I was not well received On the topic of Tyler, there is all sorts of things that lead to the dismissal. The game last Friday where he dogged it was the final straw. It is too bad, but believe me while his mental issues are part of it, he brought a lot of this on himself. First of all, this claim that Gopher fans are pumping up Kessel is ludicrous. Kessel has been the talk of American Hockey for what 3 years now? He was being touted long before he committed to Minnesota, so lets not act like the hype is all Gopher based. Hell it was Sconnie based way more than Gopher based, until it became clear he would rather join a convent than play for Eaves Gopher fans are excited, but they arent even close to the reason that Kessel is the household name he is right now. Second, not to be insulting, but for all intents and purposes the Parise vs. Vanek debate is a wash. Parise had the better all around game but Vanek won the big games. I loved watching Parise (Bochenski more but I digress) and loved watching Vanek, but I wouldnt have traded Thomas for Zach. Thomas' freshmen year was nothing short of outstanding and his clutch goals made up for his lack of defense. I havent seen Toews play, and only seen bits of Kessel play so I have no clue who will be better. But some of the excuses put forth in this thread as to why Kessel might outscore Toews are unfounded. Who cares anyway, if Toews has 10 less goals but leads you to a title will it matter how much he scored? Hell I dont care if Kessel scores only 1 goal all year if that 1 goal is in Milwaukee

First of all...chances are it is USA Hockey that is setting up the whole press conference/conference call. This kid is a media circus for the USNDP and they are most likely gonna use that to their advantage however they can. Second, I believe it was scouts (or perhaps the coach of the U18 squad) who was quoted as saying that Kessel was the best American borne player since Mike Madano. It isn't like Dubay is making this stuff up. But hey, don't let the facts get in the way eh boys

Jesus...according to that tool you guys have already lost all the best upcoming recruits...that must suck Whats funny is that Hakstol is coaching all Blais recruits and they are playing bad but it is his fault. Shouldn't it be Blais' for recruiting them? I mean it will be Hak's fault when his recruits suck (which is inevitable according to some of you) for him shouldn't Blais be held to the same standard? To be serious for a second, while I think UND jumped the gun hiring Hak so quickly I dont think he has done anything to have the fans calling for his head. While some fans on USCHO chose to ignore it, the losses UND had were huge. Add in a new coach and the year was going to be rough. You just have to grin and bear it and hope things get better. I got in fights with lots of idiots on POI last season when the Gophs started slow but you guys are actually worse. Settle down and just enjoy the season. It is only a game and there are greater tragedies in this world. So the Sioux lost, big friggin deal. I think you guys will live. I am sure you guys will flame me to high heaven but sometimes it helps to put things into perspective. JMHO though.

As we all know, defensive motivation means nothing in the NHL if you can score lots of points. It isnt worth the argument again, but we could list tons of superstars who never sniffed their own defensive zone. (not to say Vanek is even close to that level just saying) Vanek seems to be suffering from "Tyler Arnanson" syndrome

Zelkin was anything but consistant. Lots of penalties to start, then no penalties...it is annoying but he is new so I give him a bit of leeway. (he reminds me of Don Adam which is never good) I also think it is a bit off to say that officials are biased...I mean come on seriously do you really think the refs have it in for UND? What purpose would they have to screw over UND?

He holds UND in the highest regards and always talks about that series being one of the measuring sticks for his squad. (even going back to his CC days) Sorry if that offends people, but considering the nature of this rivalry I dont think anything said by any of the coaches of late is that bad. I mean Jack Parker has a lot of worse things to say about BC than Blais or Lucia ever had to say about Minne or UND.

Man, it takes a lot to make me post here...but I just had to say a few things. Think back a couple years, to a one dimensional, lazy on defense, natural goal scorer with a bad attitude who didnt really try all the time but when he did was a serious difference maker. Who am I talking about...Dany Heatly. Somehow he has turned in a pretty decent pro career despite his hack-like and defenseless nature...funny Think back even farther and some of the same things were said about Bret Hull...and he is only like 3rd all time in NHL scoring and a Hall of Famer The NHL is filled with one way players, hell half of them are on the Rangers Many of the greats just focus one way, that is just how it is. Now I am going to do my best (no seriously) to be objective. My guess is most of you will disagree with some of what I have to say and that is cool. I am in no way trying to flame or am I trolling just offering opinions. 1) Jake Taylor is a goon. So are Mike Prpich and Matt Greene. All tend to take liberties with their sticks and love to throw players around and be nasty. Every team has a few, every team needs a few, complaining about Jake Taylor and denying the "goons' on your own squad makes you look petty. Support the goons...they are truly fun to watch (and to the person who said Vanek went after Parise cause he is smaller...what about when Smaby went after Waibel who is dwarfed by Smaby?) 2) As much as I love Brandon Bochenski and support him for Hobey (no knock on ZPar but the way Brandon has transformed his game in 3 years is remarkable to me), he loves to also use his stick for no good. Not as much now as before, but there are 2-3 incidents I can think of where he took full swings. Very much like how Vanek does stupid things with his stick. Sometimes great players get frustrated and act stupid. I understand, but slashing, hooking and crosschecking is lame no matter who does it. To his credit, I have never seen Parise do anything of the sort and gets even worse treatment plus he is smaller. 3) I dont know who the best defensemen in the WCHA is nor do I care. I love our D-Corp, you love your D-corp and that is what matters. Both fit in well with the style of play each team uses. Ballard would be great no matter where he was just like Matt Jones would be. They are both great at playing the game their way. No need for a pissing contest over it, it is ok to say a player on another team is great, it doesnt speak ill of the players on your team. I guess I just dont get what is going on on the boards lately. Everyone is whining about something, no one is objective and any chance of relatively good discussion has gone right out the window. I mean it has never been as bad as it is now and I have been around a while. The rhetoric gets old quick. Are we not supposed to be enjoying ourselves...why all the hostility? Ummm, shouldnt you be just as mad at UND for allowing the Minnesota cheerleaders onto the ice with the banner? You act as if Woog had this grand idea in the middle of the game to put them out there. Now I wasnt there, but I doubt that would even be possible. What was your school thinking allowing the opposing teams cheer squad on your ice? Myself I would be more upset with that.

I have said it before and I will say it again...why do I care whether or not you cheer for my team? Why do you care if I cheer for yours? Where did this idiotic idea of "conference loyalty" come about? I never got it. If I spend all year hating the Sioux, why do I have to cheer for them to win if they make it farther? I dont, that is what is great, if I am not cheering for the Gophers I dont have to cheer for anyone else. I admit I cheered for FSU over UND, mainly because I didnt think FSU was getting much respect and UND was getting quite a bit. In the same vein, I also figured it would be easier beating FSU overall than beating UND, who had already won at Mariucci earlier this year. I cheered for BC over you guys the second time around (you guys the year before) cause I honestly didnt want to see what the boards would have been like if the Sioux had won another title. Just more taunts our way cause we hadnt won one in 23 years and how you had so many in such a short time. Just like you are hearing from some MN losers now. (if you notice, the words "Repeat, Threepeat, National Champs, Cupcake and so on almost never grace my posts) I also dont care whether people think I have class. (although it is nice to know people often find me respectful...off the boards believe me I have tons of respect for almost every team) Class is in the eye of the beholder, and most who accuse others of being classless are no better themselves. I mean for every Gopher poster who annoys you guys with their tripe there is a UND poster doing the same thing. (and 3 SCCC posters...but that is another thread ) It is all the same despite arguments from both sides. So in conclusion, hate my team! I beg you too! I dont want your support nor does the team need it. If you want to cheer, fine. If not, fine. Either way my allegiances dont change. I cheer for the Gophers first, second, third, fourth and fifth, and then MAYBE after that I find another team to cheer for. It has been you guys before, in basketball it was once a team I refuse to admit I cheered for, I even cheered for SCCC once. It all depends on whether I have a reason to...it is in no way based on any sort of conference loyalty. It also doesnt mean I dont repect the rich tradition of your school or team, or hate all your fans. While I may not bow down to the "Almighty 7" believe me I understand how great a feat that is. My hatred of you is borne of respect, not ignorance. Now here is hoping you suck next year :)

That is a very good point. Of course if Martin is majoring in a real subject and gets a degree in something useful (I have no idea if he is or not) than if his NHL career doesnt pan out he can parlay his degree into a nice job somewhere. Of course he can his degree while riding a bus in Albany as well. I think Shooter mentioned it again today. He (Shooter) seems to think Vanek is all but guranteed to come back and Martin is 50/50. Take that with a grain of salt.
