Well we [Gopher Fans] can only hope so! I must say I was a bit surprised when he committed here. I knew Potulny would but never would have predicted Iremn's arrival here on campus. I was very pleased to say the least I still say that Donny should play the "All North Dakota" line against UND just for fun

All that anyone knows about the situation (besides Donny himself and his coaches) is what has been said publically about it. Lucia has said numerous times that Grant was brought in cause he was basically the antithesis of the players we already had. He had very little skill (in regards to skating and puckhandling) but brought the blue collar work ethic the team needed if it ever wanted to compete for the National Title. He was also older and a leader and that is what the team truly lacked. Leadership from the Seniors was lacking save for Erik Westrum for the most part. In fact when UAA was in town Hill and Lucia talked about how when they were scouting the Viking Cup Grant stood out the most in their eyes and that was who they wanted. That is all anyone really knows. I was hearing rumors about Ryan even back then and his reputation was just getting bigger. I tend to think if Ryan hadn't been around Grant still would have been on this team but I also dont think Ryan being a possible future recruit hurt. Like I said the only ones who truly know are Donny and his fellow coaches. note: I am not trying to say you are wrong. You could be completely right and Donny and Co. could be covering up their true intentions. I don't know nor do I really care cause in the long run as we ended up getting a player that was an integral part in back to back titles. Not only that, but he made it a bit easier for people to accept non-Minnesotan player on the squad. If that is all because of Ryan, then thank you Ryan

I wonder if Johnny Pohl will be around to play as well. It will be a virtual WCHA Reunion at the Ralph

At Mariucci we are allowed to get big groups of tickets together so I would assume they will let you guys do that as well.

Minnesota only has 5 players coming in so that plays into why they are down kinda low. That is not an excuse or anything just an observation. Sconnie's class is #1 based both on sheer numbers and 1 or 2 top recruits like Suter and Brodeur. (Jourdey could be included in there as well) IMO none of the rest are that great but all have the potential to be excellent players. In the end it doesnt much matter...Sconnie will always be terrible

Well...while impressive, those defensemen did not play hockey well (note: that is not a rip in any way on the 4 goals Murray scored...but seriously does that league play with defensemen ) Did anyone else see a cowboy hat on the ice...TOO FUNNY!

As for Pohl being overrated, before his injury he was the favorite to win AHL ROTY...not too bad if you ask me I think I speak for the entire WCHA when I say, "Thank you St. Louis...you just made our lives a bit easier!"

Wow you have some serious hatred issues to deal with. I suggest you seek counceling BTW dont describe St. Cloud and try and pass it off for the Cities...last time I checked most of the suburban area is hardly the "white trash paradise" you described. Besides the Cubs, name me one bad team that sells out consistantly. Fans want a winner plain and simple. If the Sioux are down they wont draw, same with the Vikes, Packers (they may sell but I remember watching those games on TV when no one was there) Gophs (once the waiting list is dissolved down to nothing) and everyone else. For the money we pay we expect the best. Minnesota as a whole does have a lot of cruddy fans this is for sure. I am not one. I have gone to Twins games since 1987 (went on a 1 year hiatus in protest of the lack of even trying to put forth a good team in the 90's) and have been watching the Vikes since around then as well even when they stink. Before I realized the NBA sucked I used to attend Wolves games when I could (especially the first 4 years) and I have been to about 7 Wild games. To show you how much of a non-fairweather fan I am, I never miss Gopher FB games and have watched every game since I was 6. It is impossible to be a frontrunner with that team! Man if the Gophs go back to back the NEWBIES at Mariucci will be twice as bad. Now no one will be able to get student tickets (this year 3/4 of the students either have SRO or one day passes) and no one will show. Great Fact is there is just too much going on here in the Cities...I say contract the Wolves
