Well to give you an outsider's view... When Karl was in nets, as a fan you just knew you were in trouble. Maybe it was because he made simple saves look downright amazing (he loved to add accent to even the easiest of glove saves) or maybe it was because in the 3rd period when the game was tied and your team was buzzing he would flop down on the ice and somehow make a save when you swear for a second the net was wide open! He oozed confidence and as the game wore on every save he made became almost a psychological battle! I swear it was like he was singing "Hit me with your best shot" while skating around the crease! Stats are skewed! Hauser had pretty decent stats but teams knew they always had a chance when he was in net. He never had the confidence, but once he got it he became a machine and helped the team win it all. Karl was always that way, he would taunt the fans (I hated how he skated in circles after the Sioux scored usually with a smile on his face) and when he made a save on you he usually let you know it. Same holds true for Kollar. Teams knew he wasn't as good as Karl despite his stats. They knew they had a chance. I can honestly say that even though I hated Karl with a passion, I never enjoyed watching opposing goalies as much as watching him. And any goal the Gophs scored made me that much more excited cause he was just that good. Brandt seems more like Kollar or Hauser. They can give you the numbers you need (90% save, 2-2.5GAA) but never seem to make the big save that turns the tide or steals the game. The Sioux were spoiled for 4 years with Karl in nets cause he would make that save. It can, and does get frustrating. JMHO as an outsider, but I figured my thoughts may for once be relevant somewhere

I will not be playing thank you very much! That would be a crime against humanity! All I know is the last game I played in I was part of the worst line change in history, me for Nick Angell, and later on he slashed me and I was ON HIS TEAM!!!!

Ok, I havent posted on this board since last season, and chances are wont again after this but I would just like to say that I posted that I felt your banning was premature. But you have to remember, the whole Roberg deal was a real feel good story for us all, mainly cause we have all hung out with Roby and he is a great guy. Your comment (while benign (sp?) and altogether meaningless) to Sal and the rest (not to me) probably seemed like a slap in the face of that accomplishment. They all know the game doesn't count, and they know that most people wont know or wont care in a few years, but we do and it will be something we will never forget. I think because of the emotions running high like they were a rash decision was made since you seemed to be acting like a wet blanket. Sal does not have a history of banning people (you are the 3rd I know of, one who was let back a week later) and is usually quite liberal in his "moderating" of the board. As far as I can tell he holds no grudges and welcomes anyone to post. But he has always said that POI is not USCHO, the board is geared towards the Gophers and bias will run high because of. Don't expect the fairest discussion by all posters. The same holds true here. If I ran POI, I would not have banned you. I may have emailed you or warned you but I would not have terminated you. Like I said on POI, they let that poster "badger" post all year and he never posts more than 1 sentence and it is always a negative comment about the U. If he is allowed to stick around so should you. Plus, nothing you have ever said is any worse than what a lot of Gopher fans have said about the team and/or players so it just doesn't seem to add up. But I dont run POI, Sal does and it is his choice to make. Sorry for interrupting and posting a novel, just figured I would add my $.02 and try and defend Sal and U2 a bit. I just think this all got blown out of proportion.

Andy didnt deserve to lose that is for sure. Neither did Hauser. Both played excellent and I commend them both. As for the rest of what you guys said I will leave it be. But I will say Taffe wasnt the only one hitting after the whistle...some players on the road team did as well. I would say the dirty play was about equal...and it made me sick both ways. See ya next year Sioux, I still think your the team to beat in 2003.

I am sorry for the tone of things I said. Honestly I probably wouldnt have said anything but since as far as I can see i am the only Gopher fan on this board, I feel the need to not let you just flame on about us ya know. Believe me I know the rep the gophs have, I just didnt see the relevance in bringing it up after last nights game. I have respect for Blais and the UND program but your team did remind me of Sconnie more than ever. I was dissapointed. I dont want to fight, I dont want to step on tows or stir the pot. #### I dont even wanna be noticed. But I felt the comments by Taz ansd sprig were of the "pot calling the kettle black" variety after watching and attending last nights game. If you choose to disagree...that is fine by me. My opinion will always be in the minority on this board I know. I dont think my original post warranted the reaction it got because I have seen worse posted by fans who are on this board. I will say though again I apologize for my tone and wording.

If I came to stir the pot dont you think I would have done a better job? What did I say that was so bad? So it isnt good to say the Sioux might be classless...but it is ok to say the Gophs are...I guess double standards are ok then. I dont paint my face. I also dont wear wigs like the Sioux fans do...but thanks for playing. I never said I was an expert when it came to the rivalry, I mentioned Ballard playing for Omaha who is a rival with Lincoln...is that what you meant? Answer this, what is being saidby Gopher fans ANYWHERE that wouldn't be said by Sioux fans if they would have won, or have saidwhen they did win in the past. Sorry to bug you guys I just wanted to have a discussion and I felt USCHO was to lame. I didnt realize I would cause this much trouble.

Ok please take this post as a nonflame attempt. I am not trying to ruffle feathers. You can have your opinions of The Gopher players and fans, but if you want to see classless, look at UND. Do you wanna know why Mason called 7 straight penalties on your team? CAUSE THEY EARNED THEM!! Your young players are a bunch of hot heads who look to try and goat players to fight. They cant keep up with the Gophs (or I shoudl say they havent been able to the last few games) so they use their stick. Slash, hook, trip and lots of other stuff that goes uncalled. How about your fans, lets see they threw crap on the ice at the New Ralph after the Gophs came back...CLASS!! There were a couple fans who stayed to the end of the game yapping at Mason. Yeah it was HIS fault you all lost...CLASS!! Or the best...Tim and Tim and their "Conspiracy to get UOFM into the Final Five" deal. Class once again. (I am not saying that the Gophs are ANY BETTER, I am just saying we are no worse.) Look, I honestly dont care what you think of me at all. I do my best to not fight but I will defend my team and it's fans. I know that there are MANY Gopher fans who I dont associate with or agree with, just like there are many Sioux fans you guys dont like. But this year I dont think Sioux fans have a right to criticize. hat is just my humble opinion. BTW...That McMahon (is it Rory) played very well. His breakaway was sweet, and he beat Hauser who played the puck pretty well on that play. Do you guys feel the Sioux will come out and play more defensive tonight? Honest question. As for BB, I dont think I ever posted I wanted him on the team. I didnt know enough about him to warrant discussion really. I can tell you I wasnt upset he went to the Sioux if that helps. dagies, The gold helmet guys are like 7 rows in front of me. If you saw us do the butt dance, I was one of the peopkle in the group of two near the band. If I would have known that was you I would have said hi. As for Ballard, could it be that he was on Omaha last year and all your plaers were on Lincoln? Seems to be the only thing I can think of in that regards. I am sure he does his fair share of stuff that I miss.

Taz, Whine??? Sorry but everything said about Brandon was true. I believe it was the two Tims who "whined" about some sort of conspiracy with the refs. Maybe I am wrong though. Wow thanks guys...I feel special to know you all think I will be #1 so quickly!! I doubt I am #1 on the Gopher Board...although maybe I am now I dont talk much at games cause JF_Gophers is an idiot and Mike is too busy screaming bad things about refs and the opposing coaches If Sheppard does this weekends games, I might just cry...he stinks!!
