  1. Kolpack just chimed in on his radio show. He actually shocked me. He and Izzo both think the game should be played. Also think UND should take the guarantee just to get the game going. Both of them agreed it is unlikely that the game will happen as long as Gene Taylor is at NDSU. Kolpack even said he truly believes that the die hard bison fans that are so vocal about not playing are afraid of a potential loss. They interviewed Cole Jirik and he said he wished he would have been able to play against the Sioux. It was an interesting conversation.
  2. Have you seen some of the ridiculous crap they have put up for vote in the last few sessions? A great example is them interjecting themselves into the nickname issue. In time, this could be right up there alley......
  3. So North Dakota doesn't fall into the "team of interest" category? Based on what I've heard from the radio talking heads in Fargo this week and the posts on Bisonville and Izzo's blog, I think otherwise.
  4. So you probably didn't pay real close attention to the situation at the time. Rather you likely are going off of Bisonville accounts of the events which have grown to urban legend status.
  5. How old were you when RT refused to play?
  6. I have really never been in favor of resuming the football series, but at this point I would probably support legislative action mandating the game if they were to be revisited simply to see how Gene Taylor would conduct himself. The meltdown would be epic.
  7. North Dakota was offering to NDSU the same deal that they agreed to with both Weber St. and Montana. The net expense to NDSU for that same deal would be a fraction of the monetary cost that it will be for the Weber and Montana agreements. I sure am glad that Taylor doesn't have access to my checkbook. This is the same university that whines about inequitable funding every two years and has to raise tuition at an accelerated rate compared to the other NDUS schools. The way they mismanage their money over there is borderline appalling.
  8. I would just like to hear an honest, objective explanation from any NDSU fan or employee as to why travelling to Missoula and Ogden as part of a home-and-home is acceptable, but traveling to Grand Forks is not. Taylor cited in his email to Faison that the revenue generated from their home games are paramount to meeting the fiscal demands of their program. So, fiscally speaking, which costs more: A trip to Ogden and a trip to Missoula, or a trip to Grand Forks. The forensic accountants need to be deployed ASAP. Sometimes I'm a bit in awe as to how stupid Gene Taylor can sound when he opens is mouth.
  9. Johnboy, what are your thoughts as to why NDSU is willing to travel to Missoula and Ogden, but not Grand Forks for non-conference games?
  10. Kolpack has to wait for the NDSU Athletic Department to fax his thoughts to him before he can weigh in though.
  11. Kolpack's take on this will be priceless..........
  12. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. I and many others have said on this board a hundred times that the game will not happen as long as Gene Taylor is at the helm. This is just another example of Taylor's shady business practices. I have to chuckle a little bit when I think about GT whining on the radio and TV when Montana St. backed out of their contract. Sure this is a bit different since there was no signed contract but it is now public record that Taylor verbally agreed to the series then, sat on the contract for a year, then after two years demanded to change terms of the verbal agreement. Ah well, not the first time Taylor has been caught in a lie, and surely won't be the last. I actually prefer they don't play in football, mainly because I feel it makes the rivalry games in the other sports all that more intense. But the funniest thing to me about the article was when GT emailed Faison and said: Not long after that, he proceeded to agree to home-and-home agreements with Montana and Weber St. You can't make this stuff up. So to all the Bison fans that say that FU "holds all the cards", or "calls the shots", or "doesn't need the game", you can all just check that at the door. It is pretty obvious that the only reason the game isn't happening is because Taylor holds a grudge toward North Dakota. That is fine, I am not complaining about it, that is their prerogative.
  13. 2016 will be year #3 of Bubba Ball, and will be a favorable schedule as Montana and EWU are both absent from the schedule. I'm already calling it: North Dakota 2016 Big Sky Champions.
  14. I assumed it would be ideal to stick with the same instructor throughout, but also wondered if it would be possible to complete the training from two separate instructors from two separate airports, or do you have to stick with the same place throughout? The reason I ask is because I wondered about taking the bulk of the lessons from a closer airport to me like Jamestown, Valley City, or Devils Lake which are all only a little over 50 miles from me, but also logging a portion of the hours from a place like GFK or Fargo. The reason I ask, is because I understand weather can obviously be a limiting factor in getting hours in. Fargo and GFK would surely offer more available planes and more available instructors, but they are twice as far away from me. On the other hand, Jamestown/Valley City apparently only has one plane and one instructor, so booking flight time on short notice could be problematic at times I assume. Perhaps I am really over-complicating this.
  15. I haven't contacted anybody yet, but GFK's website says $99 dry for rental and $49 for instruction. On-Site Aviation out of Hillsboro, their website says $120 wet and $60 for instruction.
  16. I figured there would be some members here that would have some ideas on this subject. I'm really thinking about taking flight lessons to get a private pilot certificate. Just wondering if anyone has thoughts/ideas on the best route to go. I live about equally between Devils Lake and Jamestown, and also from Grand Forks and Fargo. Since I spend a lot of time in GF already, I have been investigating GFK Flight Support, but really am open to taking a look anywhere. Also looking at On-Site Aviation in Hillsboro, but think I may learn more based out of a busier airport like GFK or Hector. Wondering if anybody has any experience with GFK Flight Support or any other options, either obvious or not, and what advice you could give. Thanks in advance.
  17. Don't know if she was recruited by North Dakota, but I read that she has family ties to NDSU. I think both her father and brother were former NDSU athletes........
  18. North Dakota Hockey.....................
  19. USD is committed to basketball. They are traditionally strong, and will likely be strong again. They are also building a new arena that will be attached to the Dakota Dome.
  20. Let's continue the discussion without the sidebar of anyone's sexual orientation. That subject has no bearing on the topic at hand. This is, after all, a sports website.
