  1. Sprig, Have you heard anything for sure if this weekend's game will be at the same satellite coordinates that the FSSN normally uses? I would assume so, but on a few occasions in the past, hockey road games picked up by FSSN have been on a different sat, and I can rember an instance or two where the game was only available on GF cable, and couldn't be scanned in on FTA.........
  2. I'm a season ticket holder for football and hockey, and also attend alot of basketball games, and even a volleyball game and women's hockey game or two each year. All together with tickets, travel, food/beverage, FSC dues, internet subsrciptions (both fightingsioux.com & opponent webcasts), DirecTV sportspak subscrptions (to get every available away game on TV that I can), FTA satellite equipment (to get every home game & an occasional obscure away game for hockey/football/basketball), I figure I spend between $5,000-6,000 a year. Never have travelled for an away hockey series, just football. The wife and I are saving up to hit the Frozen Four at the Xcel in 2011........
  3. Seems early?! Seems late to me. I'll be waiting for the mailman the next few days.
  4. I know funny............and that was funny!
  5. North Dakota football game at Northwestern State to be televised
  6. Speaking of tickets, has anyone gotten their season tickets yet for football or hockey?
  7. I see that the Texas A&M game on 1/5/10 will be aired on Fox Sports Southwest so should be able to be seen by those that have the sportspack on DirecTV or Dish Network. Also the Iowa St. game on 12/22/09 will be aired locally in Iowa on cable. I remember the game two years ago was also on the same station, but was picked up by DirecTV's Full Court package, so maybe that will happen again.
  8. Not sure, but it could be that the local TV station in Duluth is not televising this year's games. Picking up another school's feed is generally how the away games get done. UMD has normally been the away game the past few years though. Most if not all of AA's home games are televised, so it is relatively easy to pick up their satellite feed.
  9. Six televised games on the FSSN this year..... 12. FSSN Schedule.............. 4 football games this season, including one away game. Nice. September 19, 2009 (Saturday) at Northwestern State 6:07 PM October 3, 2009 (Saturday) South Dakota 4:07 PM October 17, 2009 (Saturday) Sioux Falls 1:07 PM October 31, 2009 (Saturday) Cal Poly 4:07 PM
  13. I would have thought that with the tiered pricing structure for football season tickets that there would have been a bit of a bump in sales.
  14. This is the banner ad at the top of the Fox College Sports home page...........
  15. I'm luke warm to the idea of a DI UNO. IIRC, other than football, they were always pretty mediocre in every other sport weren't they? Obviously, it would be great for the football side of the Great West Conference by adding numbers to the league, but it could also hurt recruiting for all of the Dakota schools in Nebraska since there is no FCS team there now. On the other hand, they would be a good rival for UND, as they were over the past 10 years or so, especially with them joining the WCHA for hockey.
  16. Your Offensive Player of the Year, Josh Murray of North Dakota, is not playing this season.
  17. That's a horrible argument. Using your logic, if the SWAC added Savanna St. and Valparaiso it would make it a better conference than the MVFC?
  18. Of course you do Rather, CAA is obviously a a superior conference as they get 5 teams in the playoffs to the MVFC's 2 Again, I'm not saying we are more likely to join the Big Sky, just that we are not likely to be invited to either league since both currently have the optimum number of members. Geography is a moot point because of this. Iowa and Iowa St. play in separate conferences. Florida and Florida State play in separate conferences. Colorado and Colorado St. play in separate conferences. I can go on and on and on if you need........ When the MVFC loses 2 schools, it may be more realistic. It's not now.
  19. If the lineup of the MVFC stays as it currently is, the chances of North Dakota being invited is about the same as receiving an invite to the Big Sky.
  20. Utah Valley Picked to Win Cross Country Titles GWC 2009 Preseason Cross Country Polls Men's 1. Utah Valley (6) 62 pts. 2. UTPA (2) 46 pts. HBU 46 pts. 4. South Dakota 42 pts. 5. Seattle 36 pts. 6. NJIT 26 pts. 7. North Dakota 20 pts. 8. Chicago State 10 pts. Women's 1. Utah Valley (7) 63 pts. 2. South Dakota (1) 49 pts. 3. North Dakota 47 pts. 4. UTPA 37 pts. 5. Seattle 32 pts. 6. HBU 31 pts. 7. NJIT 19 pts. 8. Chicago State 10 pts.
  21. Nobody is being negative toward the MVFC. I'm sure every one of us would love to be a member of it. However, most of us know that we won't be invited unless they lose at least two members.
  22. Your argument doesn't hold water. There are 14 FCS football conferences. Only 1 has 12 teams or more, the CAA. The reason the CAA has so many teams is not because it works so well for football, it is because it works so well for basketball and because the geography of the league's divisions is tightly knit. Located along the eastern seaboard, their is a plethora of potential attractive and economical home DI OOC games available for every member of the CAA. Not so much the case for even MVFC teams situated west of the Missouri River. 9 or 10 appears to be the ideal number of football teams within a conference. Allows for just the right amount of non-conference games. If a MVFC team threatens to leave, I suppose you could then consider USD a candidate for membership. Until 1 or more current members (probably would have to be Youngstown leaving) actually leave, don't bet on North Dakota even getting a sniff from the MVFC. The way I see it, unless North Dakota gets an invite from the Big Sky (less than 1% chance of that happening), expect to see North Dakota and USD in the Great West for football for many many years.
  23. Nevermind..............Just heard from the athletic department, and Northwestern St. is still coming to Grand Forks.
  24. Nothern Illinois added to the 2010 Schedule. But Northwestern St. is not listed any more. They were originally scheduled to return this season's game to the Alerus on Sept. 25. Apparently they bought it out? I like the Northern Illinois game, but I liked Northwestern St. in the Alerus better.
  25. It sounds like Norther Illinois' open dates next season are 9/11 and 9/25. We have Northwestern St. on 9/25 so I assume our "tentative" game with them will be Sept. 11.
