  1. Should also be noted that the North Dakota/Northwestern St. game will be televised on the SLC TV Network, made up of a collection of local TV stations in the Southeast. Several SLC games were picked up by Fox College Sports last season, so that may be an option for those with DirecTV or Dish Network if they decide to pick this game up. But the main point is that if Fox College Sports can pick up their games, so can the FSSN, so I think we should swamp the athletic department with requests to get this game on the FSSN. The man to get a hold of is Sean Johnson, here is his email: seanjohnson@mail.und.nodak.edu
  2. I sure hope we get more than one game televised. Even USD has announced that they will have 4 home games televised by Mid-Continent this year. Even a Coyote Volleyball game is going to be televised! They have a very similar deal with Midco that UND does, but they utilize it alot better.
  3. He's a wide receiver at USD! Phil Steele got it wrong.
  4. Phil Steel's College Football Preview: 1. UC Davis 2. Cal Poly 3. South Dakota 4. Southern Utah 5. North Dakota Phil Steel's Preseson All Great West Teams 1st Team: Josh Murray , Dominique Hawkins (Special Teams) 2nd Team: Kyle Bondy, Nate Wayne, Andrew Miller, Joel Schwenzfeier, Brandon Hellevang, Jeremy Blount
  5. Also noticed that it looks like Brett Cameron will be taking over the punting duties from Hellevang.
  6. I'd be surprised if Cal Poly sells out. Historically, late season games don't seem to draw too well and coupled with it being on Halloween I'd be impressed if that game draws 10,000 which is unfortunate because it will probably be one of the best teams will have come into the Alerus in the past 4-5 years. I think the South Dakota game will sell out given that it is the Coyotes, homecoming, and the home opener a whole month after the season officially begins. I would also think there is a good chance that Stony Brook will come close to selling out being that it is the Potato Bowl. I disagree that the casual fan won't care. The home schedule was worse last season and we still set a single season attendance record.
  7. On KNOX radio yesterday, Faison eluded to new tennis facilities at the new GF wellness center.
  8. 1. Cal Poly 2. UC Davis 3. South Dakota 4. North Dakota 5. Southern Utah The Sports Network I don't know, I probably would have flip flopped North Dakota and South Dakota. USD has to play at Grand Forks and at SLO, and they're not known as the greatest road team in the world. They got SUU and Davis at home which they should win both. UC Davis should be good, but USD plays very well in the DakotaDome, and the Aggies seem to struggle on the road, just like the Coyotes. Even if ND and SD finish 2-2 in the GWC, I'm confident ND will have the head-to-head against them.
  9. From that April blog post: -Nov. 8 Bemidji St. (exh) -Dec. 29 St. Olaf
  10. UND extends athletic director Brian Faison's contract through 2012
  11. The Roster is up. Jarrel Davis is wearing #27.
  12. So how does everyone think this season will go? New QB, new RB, green WR's, virtually new OL. IMO the defense might get back on track this year. We should have a good secondary, and LB play should improve. My prediction: Texas Tech..............LOSS: If we score I'll consider it a moral victory. Northwestern St.......LOSS: Similar to last year's UC-Davis game, closer than the score indicated, but we fall by 10-14 points. Stephen F. Austin.......WIN: Kinda close, but the guys gain confidence and win in a squeaker like they should have @ SLU '08 South Dakota............WIN: 1st home game after 2 months of practice & games. USD will be good, but they fall by 13. Stony Brook..............WIN: They have a good RB, but underestimate ND. Another Potato Bowl win. UND by 19. Sioux Falls.................WIN: We treat them the same way we do other NAIA's and past OOC DII teams. A 44-7 win. Southern Utah...........WIN: Revenge for last season's 2nd half debacle. A repeat of UND v. SUU '07. 39-17 win. Cal Poly..................LOSS: A poor crowd on Halloween despite UND's biggest DI home game to date. 24-13 loss. Southern Oregon........WIN: See Sioux Falls explanation. 44-3 win. UC Davis...................WIN: Could go either way, but I see ND pulling it out in a close one. 27-23 win. Central Arkansas......LOSS: Of all the recent DII move-ups, UCA is the one to imitate. They are good. ND falls 39-20. I'm always an optimist when it comes to North Dakota, but I think a 7-4 season is probable. Maybe even 8-3. On the other hand, so is 6-5 or 5-6. I think the NSU, Poly, and Davis games could really go either way. Depending on what Poly does, a Great West title is obtainable. They are good, but they lost alot from last year, new head coach too. I have a feeling we are going to split against the CA schools. USD is my sleeper in the Great West. I'm confident we will beat them in GF, but they will have a good team this season. If the game were in Verm, I'd probably pick them this year, but it's not so I will pick ND. And I expect us to at least get votes in some of the polls by season's end. We got votes in most of the polls through the first 2/3 of last season. As we improve, the country should take notice.
  13. Apparently they will return the game in 2010-11. Tom Miller Blog
  14. Murray is out for the season....... Link
  15. So I'm curious.............I would doubt that if UND is taking all broadcasting "in house" that they would kick Hennessey and Swygman to the curb. Is this just a formality, that Tim and Swyg will naturally apply for and get the job to become UND employees for the portion of the season that their play-by-play duties fall upon and remain Clear Channel employees?
  16. Sounds good to me.....I'm ready to pony up. I support THE University of North Dakota and its student-athletes. Not an abstract and arbitrary moniker......
  17. Looks like Sioux Falls will be a DII program when we play them in 2011........ USF to apply to NCAA Division II
  18. This may be a dumb question, but why does going to 11 teams make scheduling problematic when, currently with 10 teams, the WCHA plays an unbalanced schedule?
  19. Jordan May is transferring to MSU-Moorhead. KVLY Webcast
  20. It is nice to see all the festivities being added to the spring game to make it more of an event, market the program, and hopefully generate more interest. Down the road, I'd like to see them explore radio coverage of the spring game. I believe they've been broadcasting the spring game at NDSU for a few years now which is nice idea. Hearing football on the radio in April is a nice way to generate buzz for the upcoming season during a dead time for the sports season.
  21. Could Monsebroten contribute at the point? I was actually quite impressed with him in his limited time last season, although I don't think he is a true point guard either.
  22. UND football: Landry ready to lead the way
  23. Here's a seating chart for the Alerus that shows the price to pay to sit in each section.
