Good info, FSSD.................... Thanks.

Is there any way that we can confirm that Midco won't be using FTA to distribute the games? Unless I'm mistaken, if they didn't use FTA, that means they'd have to run fiber to the REA, Alerus, and Sioux Center wouldn't it? Midco has been part of the FSSN since its inception, so I'd think they'll be using much of the infrastructure that is already in place.

Coach Roebuck's disdain for all things NDSU is no secret. I'm glad the series will finally be renewed. These are two programs with dwindling fan interest over the last 5 years and this will create a buzz in the region. I've maintained ever since the schools stopped playing in everything years ago that losing the basketball rivalries hurt each school far worse than not playing the football game.
-
My guess is that the game starting back up the season after Roebuck retired is no coincidence.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UND, NDSU women's teams set to play
-
It seems like the basketball schedule is normally out by now. I wonder what the hold-up is.

Has nothing to do with elevating the rest of the programs to DI. The NCHC is to blame for the impending loss of Sioux hockey on Fox College Sports.
-
I will be one happy camper when the focus of SiouxSports.com is sports again. Not only has the nickname issue been sucking the life out of this place the last couple years, but so has been the transition to DI. In less than a week, North Dakota will be a full member of DI and a member of an established conference. I very much am looking forward to discussing North Dakota football, hockey, basketball, golf, soccer, and everything in between rather than the merits of the nickname or what conference that we hope the school will join.......................

I believe the online broadcasts will be moving to America One by way of Big Sky TV, excluding hockey, swimming, and baseball.............................
-
I hope that is not true. Unless they run fiber to the REA, wouldn't Midco have to use FTA to distribute the broadcasts to the rest of their network? This deal has no effect on the Fox College Sports deal. That was going away after this season anyways. The NCHC basically cancelled the FCS deal on North Dakota's behalf when they signed with CBS. As far as game coverage, this Midco deal is really no change from what UND has had for the past several years. It uses the same outlet, but is going to have a different production crew, and puts more money in UND's coffers. The only real drawback that I see, is that the Sunday night show will probably not be on statewide TV as it has been for like 30 years. That is significant IMO. Probably won't be able to see it unless you are a Midco subscriber.................

Well, now it is only 6 DAYS UNTIL WE ARE IN THE BIG SKY!!!!!!!!

I'm embarrassed to say that I've lived the entire 34 years of my life in North Dakota, and growing up on a farm outside a small rural town I didn't even know that UND had a hockey team when I came to college in 1996. I went to a handful of games at the old Ralph during my time at UND, and although I didn't really understand the game I always had a great time with my friends and classmates that I went with, and was so impressed by the passion that the fans put forth at the games. I watched the new REA engulf the parking lot that I used during my 4 years at the University, but didn't give it alot of thought when I left. When I luckily married my wife in 2003, a fellow sports-nut, and after following UND's run to the football title game that year, I suggested we attend a hockey game that winter because she had never been to a hockey game period, and I had not yet been to the new REA. That first game was an eye-opening experience. To realize that there is something of this grand magnitude going on out here in the middle of nowhere.................it gave me such pride in my alma mater, and pride in my state that such a first class spectacle was taking place here on Friday and Saturday nights in the cold wintery months. We were both hooked after that, and two seasons later we scored season tickets and have been there every weekend since............

Sell: Even if somebody does, we won't hear about it because there is nobody in the Grand Forks media covering Sioux football............................
-
You are right that the team will be rolling, but you forget that it is all down-hill once "duck-tober" starts in conjuction with hockey season. The Cal Poly game will be well attended, but then there will be a drop off until Pat Sweeney announces that we have the number 1 seed going into the playoffs around Thanksgiving..................
-
That would be nice...........
-
Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I think you are way to optimistic.................... History shows that attendance declines as the season goes on. No way in Hades does SUU sell out at the least................
-
Sell. Mersereau does an awesome job on punt returns, but that is totally different than kick-off returns. I haven't seen Bridges or Brown.............................
-
Buy or sell = The Alerus will sell-out for at least one game this year.
-
Ya.................. I believe if we are talking basketball, USD has been "rolling over" NDSU for about 100 years now, along with SDSU. NDSU was basically a 5th place basketball program in the NCC. I expect them to be about the same in the "Super Summit" for the foreseeable future...........................
