Good move by Midco..........................

Poor timing on this one.............

The loss of that number of scholarships over that time frame to a such a prominent program is a huge deal. That, coupled with the 4 year bowl ban (basically a national chamionship ban) will for all intensive purposes cripple Penn St. for the next 10-12 years if not longer. I agree that this was grand standing by the NCAA. Because they had no business injecting themselves into this issue. This was a criminal matter, not an athletic one. There was obviously a major ethical problem going on that needs to be dealt with, but it had nothing to do with athletics, exploitation of student-athletes, or gaining an unfair advantage on the playing field which is what the NCAA is supposed to regulate. I would have loved to have seen them get the dealth penalty, just to witness all the chaos that would have ensued. But the NCAA learned their lesson when they killed SMU football. That cost the NCAA alot of money over the last 30 years. We'll never see the death penalty again..........................

I hope not. I'm tired of "wildcat" type schemes. Everybody knows when the "wildcat" QB comes in, it is going to be a running play. Just a matter of which direction....................

I wouldn't mind replacing the "DI Reclassification" forum with a general NCAA or College Athletics forum. My guess is that a Big Sky forum would just be over-run by topics about the Summit, Missouri Valley, etc. Given the separation between hockey fans and "North Dakota-in-general" fans, my guess is that there would need to be separate forums for the NCHC and the Big Sky if you really want to break things down. But, personally, I would be all for a forum where Notre Dame, NDSU, Black Hills St., and Lindenwood could all be fair game for discussion.

Sell: North Dakota and NDSU will play within two years of Gene Taylor's termination/resignation Sell: They will either have 14 or less than 13 Sell: NCAA won't open up that can of worms again

I wasn't at the 2001 UC Davis game or the final Sioux-Bison game so I can't attest to either. But it seems like that '01 UC Davis game has become legendary by all accounts. I was at the North Alabama game in 2003, and if those two games were louder than that one, then that is really sayin' something. The fact is that if the crowd is into it, the Alerus can be a very intimidating venue despite the smallish scale of the arena. The noise can create havoc for opposing offenses whether it is Montana or Black Hills St.

The Big Sky's associate commissioner was on with Dom Izzo on WDAY tonight. When asked about any potential surprise teams in the conference this year he mentioned North Dakota and Cal Poly as his sleepers.................

What coach voted SUU number 1? I don't understand all the love they get. I'm not sayin they suck or anything, but IMO they are getting way too much mileage from beating a crappy FBS team. Conversely, I can't believe that Cal Poly only got 1 first place vote in the media poll and none in the coaches................I think they will walk to at least a share of the conference title.

Kind of cool that the Big Sky Shop has a whole bunch of Sioux hockey gear available as well ranging from WCHA championship stuff to Frozen Four stuff.

I think we all know that Coaches' Polls are a joke, if ya know what I mean..........................................

MODERATOR ANNOUNCEMENT: As I already pointed out, this thread is about North Dakota's upcoming 2012 football season. Since NDSU isn't on the schedule, there should be no need to bring them up here. If anybody wants to compare North Dakota's roster to NDSU's, start a new thread and have at it. This is not the place for it.

I believe he sat behind two QBs at North Carolina that got drafted into the NFL. He graduated from college already and has enrolled in grad school at UND. If he wanted to play FBS ball, he'd have to sit out a season. He has family ties to the area, so I think it was just alot of stars aligning at the right time that North Dakota was a good fit for him this season...................

The topic of the past rivalry between North Dakota and NDSU is certainly a valid one for sports website such as this. However, past results of head-to-head meetings between the two and the number of conference and/or national championships each school has won seems to have little to do with this thread. Let's get back on topic. Feel free to start a new thread in the football forum to discuss the pasts of North Dakota and NDSU.

Say what? Attendance last season was bad. But there were 7,500 for NDSU on a Tuesday night for a non-conference game.
-
OVER OR UNDER: 18 members of Bisonville will downplay NDSU's loss to North Dakota because it "means nothing" and it is North Dakota's "Super Bowl"
-
OVER OR UNDER: 70% Freethrow shooting as a team for the season
-
OVER OR UNDER: 1 game in the NCAA Tourney
-
OVER OR UNDER: 10,000 in attendance at the Fargodome for North Dakota-NDSU basketball
-
OVER OR UNDER: .500 overall winning percentage for the season

I don't know if "excited" is how I would describe how I feel about the defensive backfield. Definately curious. Hopeful maybe?
