  1. I merged the two threads regarding the new TV contract. It can be found in the Other Sports Forum........................
  2. When the Root Sports deal came out, I emailed Jon Kasper, head of media relations for the Big Sky and asked if the conference deal would affect UND's Fox College Sports deal. He said it would not, other the fact that Fox couldn't have a game that Root selected, which this year is the Montana game. The positive changes of the Midco deal are the cash, HD, and all of the home football games will be televised this year (UM game on Root, the rest on Midco). But it basically the same as what we've had regionally, I agree. The deal that the NCHC made with CBS really sucks.........................
  3. Now in English please..................................
  4. I agree he still has plenty to prove, but I think it would be a stretch to say he "created" the 3-8 season in 2010. That was a culmination of things ranging from poor scheduling by the A.D., unprecedented attrition of recruits from the Lennon era, the nickname debacle, and just the DI transition as a whole.................
  5. Honestly, I can't even remember what logos were on the turf at the Alerus Center for the past 10 years. I was too busy watching football, I guess........................
  6. I'm gonna buy that one. I'm now on the Mussman bandwagon. Mussman was a guy that I was luke-warm about at best when two "temps" decided to hire him. When you listen to him speak now, it is like listenening to a totally different person from who he was back in 2008. He has obviously learned and grown alot. His demeanor on the sidelines during games has completely changed from his first couple seasons..................he seems much more intense now from what I see. I remember when first took the job, he said he felt like he would be more of "player's coach" than was Dale Lennon. Well, I never saw Dale chew anybody's ass like I did Mussman on multiple occasions last season. I think he will prove to be a good leader of a college football program. Afterall, he flipped the record from 3-8 to 8-3 in a year's time......................
  7. Good info, FSSD.................... Thanks.
  8. Is there any way that we can confirm that Midco won't be using FTA to distribute the games? Unless I'm mistaken, if they didn't use FTA, that means they'd have to run fiber to the REA, Alerus, and Sioux Center wouldn't it? Midco has been part of the FSSN since its inception, so I'd think they'll be using much of the infrastructure that is already in place.
  9. Coach Roebuck's disdain for all things NDSU is no secret. I'm glad the series will finally be renewed. These are two programs with dwindling fan interest over the last 5 years and this will create a buzz in the region. I've maintained ever since the schools stopped playing in everything years ago that losing the basketball rivalries hurt each school far worse than not playing the football game.
  10. My guess is that the game starting back up the season after Roebuck retired is no coincidence.
  11. COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UND, NDSU women's teams set to play
  12. It seems like the basketball schedule is normally out by now. I wonder what the hold-up is.
  13. Has nothing to do with elevating the rest of the programs to DI. The NCHC is to blame for the impending loss of Sioux hockey on Fox College Sports.
  14. I will be one happy camper when the focus of SiouxSports.com is sports again. Not only has the nickname issue been sucking the life out of this place the last couple years, but so has been the transition to DI. In less than a week, North Dakota will be a full member of DI and a member of an established conference. I very much am looking forward to discussing North Dakota football, hockey, basketball, golf, soccer, and everything in between rather than the merits of the nickname or what conference that we hope the school will join.......................
  15. I believe the online broadcasts will be moving to America One by way of Big Sky TV, excluding hockey, swimming, and baseball.............................
  16. I hope that is not true. Unless they run fiber to the REA, wouldn't Midco have to use FTA to distribute the broadcasts to the rest of their network? This deal has no effect on the Fox College Sports deal. That was going away after this season anyways. The NCHC basically cancelled the FCS deal on North Dakota's behalf when they signed with CBS. As far as game coverage, this Midco deal is really no change from what UND has had for the past several years. It uses the same outlet, but is going to have a different production crew, and puts more money in UND's coffers. The only real drawback that I see, is that the Sunday night show will probably not be on statewide TV as it has been for like 30 years. That is significant IMO. Probably won't be able to see it unless you are a Midco subscriber.................
  17. Well, now it is only 6 DAYS UNTIL WE ARE IN THE BIG SKY!!!!!!!!
