  1. I guess one option that has been mentioned but seems to be overlooked by many (including myself) is Big Sky TV. They will carry 9 of North Dakota's 11 football games this year and will do so for free. I've actually had pretty good luck watching Big Sky TV over the last 3 years or so. They should also have every single home men's or women's basketball game and every road Big Sky game. The real problem is hockey. Personally, I find webcasts of hockey to be virtually unwatchable.
  2. On the video at UNDsports.com for Media Day, Jack Michaels specifically mentioned the "black-out" game against Montana....................
  3. Although I originally thought that UND had one year left on the Fox College Sports deal, the fact that Midco is televising the football opener but it is not on any of the FCS schedules, has me doubting this assumption.............................. They are still replaying several North Dakota events throughout August, so maybe there is a chance.
  4. "In The Clear"......................... As opposed to scrambled.
  5. I think this hurts for the future. My hope was that Bradley would be the #2 this year, get another year in the system, and be the starter next season. That would make Mollberg the likely starter in 2014 as a sophomore with two years of experience in the system and 3 years of eligilibity left. Having a different quarterback every single season is not ideal.
  6. Damn, sorry about that. Great minds think alike? Have to admit that I provided a cool-ass potential logo though!
  7. No doubt. Anything that the Herald reports can be found in a UND press release about 6 hours earlier.
  8. You are right, but the point is that it's all relative.................... North Dakota was the epitome of a "run-first" team last season, because we did not have the personell to throw the ball with consistent success. Southern Utah was a "pass-first" team last season because they didn't have the personell to run the ball with consistent success. NDSU was an ideal 50/50 team last year in my eyes, just like they were in the Steve Walker years. Jensen is no Walker, but he runs your offense efficiently and mistake free. Jose Mohler...................not so much. Everybody wants to be balanced. In the Big Sky, I'd say only EWU is philosophically a pass-first team.
  9. I like Reapers the best, but also like Cavalry.................................... I don't care for Roughriders........................ And by the way, Sicatoka, I think you stole the Reapers idea from me.
  10. Just out of curiosity, did you ever attend football games at the Alerus in the early part of the decade? It has been a terribly sterile environment the last 5 years or so for various reasons, but from about 2001 to 2007, I felt it was an extremely excitable venue for football. When near capacity with a raucous crowd it can be deafening in there, and I attribute alot of that to the closed roof. Personally, I prefer indoor football in UND's situation..............
  11. Cal Poly will definately be a playoff team this season.................
  12. As I pointed out in this thread, Big Sky offenses generate 41% of their yards via the run, compared to 43% in the MVFC. Additionally, the top 3 teams in the Big Sky standings a year ago were also the top 3 running teams in the conference. Two of those teams had the #1 and #2 run defenses in the league. And the top 4 passing teams in the Big Sky had a combined conference record of 9-23. I'd hardly call the Missouri Valley a "run-first" conference. I'm not sure that one of those exist in this day and age....................................
  13. The Alerus cost $80 million over a decade ago. I'm thinking a retractable roof stadium a decade from now would be a tish more than $120 million.................
  14. Again with SUU..................... Why so much love? Even from Massey?..............................
  15. ORU is primarily a basketball school and they didn't leave the Summit just because of baseball. ORU left the Summit because they were the high-end basketball school in a low-end basketball league with crappy travel and poor baseball weather. Now they are the high-end basketball school in a low-end basketball leauge with friendly travel and ideal baseball weather. They'll still be the favorites every year in basketball and their baseball recruiting will probably be alot easier.
  16. My gut is telling me that the Midco games are still gonna be on FTA.............................................
  17. Awfully kind (optimistic) words from you Bison_Kent.............................................................
  18. I said most other teams. No, I wasn't born yet, but I feel I can still recognize a talented squad. Going 9-1 against that 1975 schedule is quite impressive to me. I just feel that the competition that North Dakota was playing and succeeding against from the mid-60's to the mid-70's was more impressive than that of the National Championship era of the early 2000's. In no way do I mean to discredit the '01 or '03 teams, or any other for that matter. It is just my opinion that the success the program had from about 1964 to 1975 impresses me most when looking through the history of Sioux football, given the level they were competing at during that time. That is when UND should have moved to DI along with the Montana schools and Northern Iowa.....................
  19. UND needs an "exercise" on how to get to just 10,000 first..............................
  20. Despite the fact that Pat Sweeney has been accused of being a major homer and rather dull while calling games, I have always enjoyed him. Having said that, Dan Hammer is an excellent choice as a replacement. I always felt he was quite good as the radio guy for North Dakota football, and he is much better on TV than on radio.
  21. Oops........................... had my bowl seasons mixed up. I was thinking 1966 when UND won the Pecan Bowl. We smoked Montana, Idaho St., and Northern Iowa that year. Montana St. beat the hell out of us though. I think the 1975 season was one of the first with the playoff system. I'd still put that 1975 team up against most other UND teams...........................
  22. IMO, if Montana wouldn't join the WAC when schools like Nevada, Utah St., and Fresno were still part of it, they are not going to join what is left of the WAC now. On either a related or unrelated note, Montana has a press conference scheduled for 11:00 today......................................
  23. Specifically, the 1972 and 1975 teams were very good. This was before the Divisional breakdown of I-A, I-AA, DII, and DIII. There were only two divisions then. North Dakota won 10 games in those two years against solid opponents that included schools like Montana, Montana St., UNLV, and Cal Poly. They also won the regional bowl games those years that factored into determining the national champion. Personally, I've always maintained that Jerry Olson's teams of that era were the high-water mark for Sioux football. In my eyes, it would take an FCS national championship or something close to it to for any future North Dakota team surpass the 1972 & 1975 teams. I think this year's team is still very much a question mark. I think they are one player away from being a very dynamic offensive squad, but I don't put enough stock into a spring practice to say that the problem is solved. Special teams are very good. But one component of the defense was a huge liability last season. A significant upgrade is needed in the secondary, I hope we got it.
  24. 2001, 2003, 2006, several teams from the early 70's
