  1. I know we've beaten the CHL vs college debate to death (and will continue to do so), but I read a blog the other day in which a former CHL coach explained the numerous benefits of kids going the college route. It was a very interesting piece. I'll see if I can go back and find the link.

  2. Sharp? I'd say he's due for an optometrist visit. He seems like he's not seeing the puck. And when he does, he's fighting it.

My prediction: LA wins in 6, or CHI wins in 7.

Haha you're really going out on a limb here, considering those are two of the three options left. :)

  3. Here's another twist, stoneySIOUX...I have another friend, let's call him Oxbow7 so I don't reveal his true identity, shows up at a Sioux hockey game wearing a SiouxSports.com hat and a 1 Direction concert t-shirt...foul?

A 1D t-shirt on anyone other than a 13 year old girl is a foul, whether at a Sioux game or not. I would kindly recommend staging an intervention should your completely anonymous friend choose to do so again.

  4. Rud is a finalist for the women's head coach position at SCSU. I'm thinking that answers our question of leaving; to me that indicates he's determined to be a head coach and isn't waiting around for CC.

Rud is officially the new head coach of the SCSU women's team. I'm betting he's thankful he had another option on the table. It will be interesting to see where Bennett ends up (if anywhere).

  5. Based on that logic, authentic jerseys shouldn't be available to the general public at all because we haven't earned it. And that goes double for game worn jerseys. What say you?

That's stretching my point to the extreme. I don't see an issue with jerseys or game worn jerseys, especially since the selling of the latter is generally used as a fundraiser. It's just the name on the jersey that bugs me.

  6. To me, I find the Habs as offensive as the Gophers, I hate them. But this is coming from a guy that has been a Bruins fans since 1988. Think of it this way, The Habs are the Gophers and the Bruins are UND. That should put it into perspective.

I missed your actual point because I was too busy throwing up a little.

Please, please do not compare the Bruins to UND. In any way. Ever. Even if it's just a simile. It's like comparing sardines to ice cream; don't taint my ice cream.

  7. I agree! Leads by example. I also like the Alternate captain selections! Curious though, no D men are captains. Is that common?

It hasn't happened since the year it was Kaip, Fabian, and I forget who else. But, while uncommon, it's also not common for the team to have such an entirely young defensive core, either.

  8. I'm with ya, Godsmack...Rud's either going to be the most loyal Tiger EVER or he's going to leave. I predict the latter.

  9. http://m.gazette.com/new-cc-hockey-coach-mike-haviland-will-keep-academic-emphasis/article/1519857

Haviland will be formally introduced this afternoon on the CC campus as the new head hockey coach. Gutsy selection by AD. Will either prove to be a stroke of genius or a huge blunder...both in selection as well as decision to let Owens go.

The thing I immediately noticed on his resume is that he's only stayed at a job for a few years at a time before moving on. If CC either failed to recognize this or thinks they'll be the lone exception to make him stay, they are being incredibly naive.

  10. They're, as in "they are". You missed it ... twice. <facepalm>

There: a place, as in "over there".

Their: possessive, as in "give that back, it's theirs, not yours".

They're: a contraction for "they are", as in "They are facing class B misdemeanors".

    Signed,

The Society to Prevent Cruelty to the English Language :D

Ha! It took all my restraint not to say anything, but I'm glad someone did!

  11. No offense but I would really hate everything about this and hope it never happens. Huntsville would be the last team that I would want in the NCHC and splitting the NCHC into divisions when you only have 10 teams would be horrible and unnecessary.

Definitely no Huntsville. The NCHC was created after the Big Ten announcement because UND, DU, etc. needed to be in a conference in which schools have a dedication to putting hockey first. I'm thrilled that Huntsville was able to revive its program, but that hockey program isn't even close to the same level as the NCHC, financially or athletically.

  12. What teams would you like to see added thru expansion? Are you thinking that poaching the WCHA for teams like Minnesota State and Ferris State would be a good idea?

Personally, I think the NCHC is a little heavy on former WCHA teams and would have liked to see a little more former CCHA flavor added when the recipe for a new conference was put together.

It may sound weird, but I want Mankato to stay in the new WCHA for their own good. After years of being pummeled in an impossibly difficult conference, they deserve to be on/near the top. I'm afraid pulling them into the NCHC would just push them back down.

  13. Exactly. I like that you have to earn your way to the tournament. I don't want all 8 teams there. And if you just have the bottom 4 play series with 6 teams going to the tournament, then you have an off week for your top 4 teams. We all saw how well that off week worked for St. Cloud prior to the regionals...

  14. Not a good enough skater. His feet will unfortunately let him down.

It will be interesting to see. He improved that a lot over the course of his time here. Bochenski is a prime example of excelling in many areas of the game but not having good enough foot speed to play in the NHL, even though he's still playing professionally.
