  1. - J Schmaltz showed some nifty play tonight. Was active, moving the puck and jumping into the play at the perfect times. Would LOVE to see this kid get back to the level he was playing at during the stretch run last season.

I agree about wanting him to reach the level of last year, but I thought he was absolutely horrible tonight. There were numerous sloppy passes and easy opportunities missed. I'm not normally in the club who thinks J Schmaltz is lazy, but boy did he look it tonight. He just didn't look engaged at all.

  2. I saw someone on the Twitter monster that it is very close between Minnesota & the good guys for Boeser. Wisconsin was a distant third.

That was from the Wisconsin beat writer, so I'd consider that a pretty reliable source.

  3. The hockey in the Phoenix metro area has been picking up for quite some time.  The main thing holding it back is cost.  That article isn't kidding when it says the kids stumble out of SUVs and sedans.  Most of the programs are travel intensive, which means they are ridiculously expensive.  When I lived in the area, my boss (originally from Minnesota) said it was costing him over $10,000 PER KID PER YEAR to play hockey.

  4. I don't believe this is quite to that level of break, is it? I can't remember but wasnt Lapoint's injury season ending?

I don't really remember, but I thought Lapoint's was in the second half, which makes sense that it was season ending.  I guess it's possible this injury is less severe, but we can't know one way or another since it's still being defined as 'a lower leg injury' without additional detail.

  5. What is your source for that tidbit?

I know I've seen opposing players say that in pre-series interviews before, too.  And Eaves made a comment before the series this year about just being thankful that it was in Wisconsin because playing UND at UND would have been too much for his young team.

  6. Looks like Ortega gave UND some bulletin board material.

I hope the guys remember the last time Omaha came into the Ralph.

They scored on Duluth Friday night too.  Doesn't do much good when you cough up 3 goals in the third and lose.

That being said, this is probably the best Omaha team we've seen in awhile.  Should be an entertaining series.

  7. Thought I heard that not everyone traveled to St. Cloud, so options were limited on Saturday after Bryn went down.  That might've been the reason behind Poolman up front instead of bringing in a Panzarella or Sanderson, since they weren't there?  It's also entirely possible the person saying that didn't have their facts straight, but I'm just wondering if it might be true. :shug:

It's true.  Jayson said something about it during the live chat on Friday night I think.  Olson was the only extra forward they brought.

  8. Overall, a very entertaining game with lots of chances both ways.  UND had great puck possession this game, and it led to an abundance of opportunities.  But how do you blow a 3-on-0?!?!?!?!

I think most of us expected a split, but I'm glad to see the win be so positive after such a lackluster loss.

Poolman looked pretty natural at forward.  He's great as a defensemen, but it's nice to know we have that option.

I'm glad OD turned his game around after the penalty last night.  That was a pure sniper goal, and he was looking at St. Clair (not the net) when he shot.

Pretty exciting game for Olson.  He's worked hard every shift, so it was nice to see him rewarded for that.

Neutralizing Brodzinski was a very large part of reducing SCSU's chances.

  9. I've had no good correspondence with NCHCtv.  First, they didn't extend my subscription, but they didn't cancel it, either. Had I not said anything, I probably would have continued to be able to watch for free.  I renewed it and worked just fine.

My problem is simply that my first email was lost by them (they admitted it), and they got back to me 10 days later.  When I responded to them again and it took four days to hear back.

They're customer service is quite awful, actually.  Something as large as they are should have true contact form on the website and a phone number.  Having "just" an email address is really bush league for a service that is as big as they are.  Plus, since so much of their content is going on during the evenings and weekends, they should have people answering emails and handling things during the events.

Sounds pretty similar to my experience.  My account wasn't renewed automatically, but I couldn't manually renew it either.  I basically just ended up getting free NCHCtv for October.  I tweeted @NCHC, and they confirmed that all customer service issues go to Neulion and are not dealt with by the conference.

  10. Is AZSIOUX napping?  Where's our Saturday game thread?  It's just not the same when someone else starts it.

Hell yeah go sioux!! Thanks for starting it up gf! Was ripping patron shots at the bar

Hahaha go figure.  I was originally going to ask if you were getting wasted at the bar but opted for the ever-PC 'napping'.  I should have known!
