The success or failure of our programs doesn’t affect me at all. For the sake of those who have “skin in the game” I feel bad for them when they struggle and sad for them when they lose. I still like to watch our teams and have gone to games when they were terrible and when they have been national champs. Doesn’t make me a national champ nor a failure either way.

Good way to hurt our programs and the University. Going to Chaves or Andy demanding change usually doesn’t work well. No one likes complainers. Try going is with your checkbook open and ask what they think of the state of the program. Ask what is working, what isn’t, and express your frustrations. Ask them what is frustrating them. Ask them what their vision is for the future of the program and express your ideas. Then if you are able open your check book and contribute what you can. If that isn’t something you can afford right now , ask how you can help. It may be a more effective way to move our programs forward. Just my opinion.

I agree that UND isn’t going to buy out 3 coaches. Chaves doesn’t think we have had a successful hockey season unless we are in the final four, but Confrrence Championships and Tournament wins are part of the evaluation. If someone steps up with a blank check that changes things. We can’t afford $600,000 to $1,000,000 buyouts when we have to navigate NIL and the portal. I’m not commenting on who should stay or who should go but I will take that bet regarding nothing will improve as long as Chaves is here.

Wasn’t GF Hockey asking about their sewing class. Gosh, I must have misunderstood. Tyree has an A in sewing class. Omot taking his sewing class pass fail.

I would guess he will bring her back under your stated conditions. I’m not commenting what I think we should do, only what I think will happen. He will justify not doing a buyout based on player development of some of the younger players, the year end improvement, the players like her, she has improved her staff, and she has some good recruits committed. Primarily, it’s $$$.

I wasn’t commenting on the coaching one way or the other. There is nothing in my post regarding my “philosophy on coaching”. I commented on what I observed. I didn’t think it was a good idea for Trey to bring the ball up I deferred to the BB experts, which obviously doesn’t include you and me.

Actually, he put the ball in Treyson’s hands in the beginning of the game by having him bring the ball up the court. That didn’t work cuz he didn’t get open off the initial screen. St. Thomas helped on the switch with both defenders initially focusing on Treyson. I thought we lost the game when we couldn’t hit open 3’s in the first half in addition to turning the ball over. After Treyson quit bringing the ball up, we missed him 3-4 times when he was open cutting to the basket. It seemed that if his first cut/move didn’t get him the ball or an open shot he drifted to the other side of the court and waited for something to happen. It seemed to me that they focused on stopping Treyson, took their chances on anyone else on the team shooting 3’s, and tried to clog up the middle/cover the pass to a cutter (which we also missed too many times). The guys hustled and worked hard on defense but we didn’t capitalize cuz of turnovers. We should have been up by 15-20pts when we were only up by 9. We let them back in toward the end of the first half and tied at halftime, I thought we were in deep crap. Just my observations and I defer to the experts beyond that.

Not a foul yet. Isn’t unless our guy goes straight up and there is more contact. If the Bunny guy can come down with minimum contact then no foul. If he lands on our guy coming down it should be a foul, but in todays game this kind of contact gets ignored if refs are “letting them play”.

Our guys are going to have to suck it up and skate away from that crap the rest of the season. We can’t afford unnecessary penalties or game misconducts when we have so many guys hurt. Way too often it’s the retaliation that is also penalized and sometimes the only guy penalized. “You can’t make plays from the penalty box”.

UND has offered 5’11” G-F Jaden Sonnenberg from Frazee. Very athletic. Good rebounder. Quick release on her shot and can shoot the 3. Completed junior year as schools leading scorer.

Any players or commits can go elsewhere.

We are capable of beating any team in the Summit if we play our best. We haven’t shown we can put 2 games of our best back to back much less 3 in a row.

I’m not sure discussing standards on a fan forum with someone I know little about is worth while. My standard is whether or not I would go into combat with the person. ( probably not you). However, in answer to your question, when is his contract up? In the meantime, I would like to see how they finish the season, and which players stay and who are new guys coming in.

I haven’t said he should be extended, nor did I say Chaves has done “a great job”. I have simply brought up points as to why I don’t think either are going anywhere. You and others bring up reasons why you want them gone. Not much depth to either position but this is a fan forum. Fans understand results.

I believe it was pretty clear McDermott understood the team has struggled again and there has been pressure on Chaves. I think that’s why he made the call. Your point is well taken regarding results. I don’t believe we have the experience as either players or coaches (if you have played or coached) to say he doesn’t know anything about coaching so of course his opinion carries weight.

I am not arguing the facts. You don’t seem to be smart enough to understand my opinion is that I don’t think Sather is going anywhere not whether or not he should. What McDermott thinks does matter. What you and I think is what doesn’t matter. Deal with that fact then like it twice.

His facts are correct. I don’t ignore them, there is nothing I can do about them other than try to support the University and UND athletics. I don’t fuss over stuff I have no control over. Those facts have nothing to do with my opinion. It isn’t based on wins and loses. I think winning is important and it certainly was much more so when I played and coached. I don’t play and coach anymore and don’t pretend I could. I have stated an opinion that Sather isn’t going anywhere and why I think that. I haven’t said he should be extended. If you want to argue that he will be fired at the end of the season, I have stated I think he “won’t be going anywhere” and I would take that bet. If your argument is that he hasn’t done enough to stay, the record supports your argument and I get it. If I knew a new coach would turn things around quickly and we would be league champs, I’m with you. Otherwise, I’m interested to see how the end of the season plays out and if we can keep our key players and key recruits.

Great coach, good fisherman and could drink most guys under the table on their best day as long as it was beer.

I don’t know who the suits are, but apparently Chaves did get a solid vote of confidence regarding Sather from one of the successful major college BB coaches recently. That probably carries more weight than dissenting opinions from rubes like us, most of whom maintain anonymity so people dont know if we have a background or any experience that may lend credibility for us over the guys “sitting in their underwear, in their mother’s basement “. My opinion is that neither Chaves nor Sather are going anywhere unless they get a sweet deal to move. I may be wrong but we will see.

Tells me nothing I didn’t already know. Why would I care what they think? Why would I care if they feel empowered by mocking UND or even if they mocked me? Heck, guys on our own forum mock me. If it makes someone feel better then I’ve done them a service. I could post it again if that works for you.
