  1. With all the "look at me" in sports these days, this sounds like a good bunch of kids.
  2. How many teams get in the ncaa division 2 football playoffs? Thanks.
  3. I wanted to send out a big thank you to the North Dakota fan who sent me a copy of "Fight on Sioux." Not sure if he would want me to give out his name so I won't for now. It just arrived today and I looked through all the pictures and will start reading it. Some of the old pictures are great especially the human zamboni. Thanks again.
  4. Is the old stadium grass or artificial turf?
  5. I wonder if the boston college athletic director is still saying that bc left the big east for the acc because he wanted to be in an all-sports conference. Those hockey rivalries with clemson, duke, florida state, etc. will grab all of college hockey's attention.--Sorry, if I sound a little bitter, but bc and miami were saying they were committed to the future of the big east while at the same time negotiating with the acc to leave. The damage done to big east football is going to take several years to go away. It all came down to money for bc, but it makes no sense at all for their student-athletes.If North Dakota decides to go division 1 for all sports, this is the kind of conference merry-go-round that is occurring these days.
  6. Here is an update from today's newspaper. Dondre is still listed in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick with spine and neck injuries. There has been no other information released about him or when he might be able to leave the hospital. He has been in since October 16 when he was hit by a drunk driver. Our other two players who were hit in the accident were released from the hospital but still have head and neck injuries. They have not practiced since and did not play last week against Temple and will not play this week against West Virginia. Thanks for your prayers Sioux fans.
  7. It will be interesting to see which network, the College Sports Television Network or the new ESPNU, will devote more coverage to college hockey. The last I heard the new ESPNU is supposed to go on the air sometime in March 2005 so the 2005-06 season will be their first full winter sports season .
  8. I know North Dakota has a domed football stadium, but do you have outdoor practice fields that the Sioux use depending on the away opponents' field---grass/artificial surface? Thanks.
  9. I could be wrong, but I believe the princeton "professor" I was talking about is named pete singer---just not positive about the name, but I remember the papers here in New Jersey talking about his "cutting-edge ideas" about killing babies if the parents wanted to and then the college that I used to consider prestigious and respected went and gave him a salary increase. JUST CRAZY.
  10. This might be worth a shot. I believe that cabelas and bass pro shops carry these for some colleges. Since there is a cabelas on the North Dakota/Minnesota border, they might have them for North Dakota. The websites for these are www.cabelas.com and bassproshops.com. Their phone numbers are on the sites also. It might be worth a call. Also, I have seen these types of things on rv's so you might want to check with rv shops/companies. Sorry, but I am not familiar with any rv companies names/websites. Good luck.
  11. Yes, I think they will really lose a big opportunity if thet don't start this Fall. Many families will not or can not spend $200 or more for a few hours entertainment at an nhl game. Although minor league hockey seems to be doing well in many areas, most of the nhl cities do not have a team. A couple exceptions are Philadelphia and Detroit.
  12. Not to make fun of Saint Cloud State, but they must not be making much of a name for themselves because I never heard of them until I started following North Dakota.--Is john nash the sick "professor" who said that babies could be murdured up to two months after birth because he did not feel they had obtained "personhood" status? Then princeton turned around and gave him a raise. I would never allow a child to go to a place like that. It is hard to imagine that almost all the ivy league schools started out as seminaries founded by clergy.
  13. Some of you may already know this, but the reborn WHA may not begin this Fall as planned ,according to their October 19 statement. www.worldhockeyassociation.net
  14. I have always thought that a big part of college rivalries is that each team should play home and away each year in basketball, hockey, etc. Football,of course is another story. With conferences getting larger and larger, this is going out the window. Here with the Big East next year, we will go a couple years without some basketball teams coming to Rutgers because the conference is going to be huge in 2005--- Rutgers, Seton Hall, Syracuse, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Marquette, South Florida, Connecticut, Providence, Villanova, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Saint John's, and De Paul.
  15. That school sounds like they have a lot of problems, judging by the quotes. This sounds like something that would happen at cal-berkeley or stanford. I thought the midwest was a lot more normal than this.
  16. I am scared to death our Constitutional right to freedom of religion and free speech are dwindling little by little every day. There are already certain parts of The Bible which are not to be preached in some European countries and soon in Canada. Just because someone is offended by certain beliefs does not mean they are not true, but the politically correct thought police are going to try to intrude on more and more of peoples convictions.
  17. Hartwick College is another school that splits their sports in different divisions. All of their teams play in NCAA Division 3,except for men's soccer and, strangely enough, girls water polo. This seems like a strange girls sport to choose as division 1 because Hartwick is in New York, not exactly a water polo hotbed.
  18. I was wondering why some teams, such as alaska and colorado college, have not played any WCHA games and other teams have played four?
  19. If anyone would like to send a get well card to dondre, here is an address-- Dondre Asberry Rutgers Stadium-Hale Center One Scarlet Knight Way Piscataway, NJ 08854 I am sure he,his family, and the other players would really appreciate it. He,like many of our football players, is from Florida which is about a 1,000 miles away from New Jersey. Being that far away from home makes this type of situation a little bit harder. Thanks everyone.
  20. Thanks Sioux fans. The family and hospital have been very private about this which I would probably want also. When something more comes up in the papers, I will update this thread. Thanks again.
  21. I just checked directv.com and they say that fox sports north will have the games. Still haven't seen this info. on the university's fightingsioux.com site---maybe I am just missing it.
  22. Hello hooper, I live in New Jersey and just started following the Sioux last month. There is a very nice sports bar/restaurant called Damons in Rockaway, Morris County. Just take I-80 west to the Rockaway/Hibernia exit. Their phone number is 973-664-1000. A couple weeks ago I went there during the baseball playoffs and I was the only person there not watching baseball. The manager, possibly david or dane not sure about the name, put a tv on college sports television network for the Sioux game against maine(direct tv number 610) for me.Very nice about it. They have 4 big screens and about 16 regular screens. I did not know that the games against Minnesota were on fox sports north(direct tv number 641). If you give them a call, they should be able to tell you if they get that channel, but I would think if they can get cstv, then they probably can get fox sports north.---Are you sure this is on fox sports north because I did not see anything about it on this site or on fightingsioux.com? Hope I have helped some.
  23. Clayton Hoyt, here are a few websites you might want to look at--- www.njfishandwildlife.com,www.visitnj.org,www.njskylands.com, and www.state.nj.us/dep
  24. I have been to quite a lot of college stadiums and arenas and I have never heard of any school not making ANY seats available to people who do not donate. Do you mean even the top, say 10-15 rows in the corners, are not available to the general public if they do not donate. There are some schools that force fans to donate if they want the very good seats. What if there is somebody with a family making $20,000 a year and they can only go to one or two games a year and they are willing to buy seats in the top rows, do they have to donate too? This does not seem like a good way to get the general public behind the athletic teams.
