  1. Hello Fighting Sioux #1, Now that's a GREAT trophy! GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!
  2. OK guys, I just have to ask. What does the winning team get for winning the Potato Bowl? Is there a big trophy that looks like a potato?
  3. Patrick Elias has been recuperating and should start skating in two weeks, but will miss the October 5 opener. My Webpage
  4. As of today, James Massen is listed under prospects on newjerseydevils.com.My Webpage
  5. I know that I am very conservative and very old-fashioned, but I just had to comment on where this thread has gone. I can't tell you how many articles I have read about the horrors done to these girls. While there are some American girls who get into stripping voluntarily, many girls are forced to come here from Russia, the Phillipines, Thailand, etc. Some are lied to and told they will have good jobs waiting for them in America and some are just physically threatened. When they get here, they are continually beaten and raped by their "owners." Those that have babies are told they will no longer see their babies again or that the children will be killed if the girls try to run away or go to the police. The girls work 6-7 days a week and are also forced to get into prostitution. Some are told they will not be released until they pay their "travel expenses" which of course means your tips go the sex slave owners. Organized crime "owns" the clubs and the girls. Some of the crime organizations are foreign, some American, and some a combination. I am not a saint and I would be lying if I said I did not look at(and sometimes lust at) attractive girls, but PLEASE do not give your money to these monsters. They are a sick mixture of rapists/pimps/sex slave dealers. If you really need to look at good-looking girls half your age, save a lot of money and go to Hooters. It's still sleazy, but at least you won't be contributing to the horrific international sex slave industry. Thanks for your time, guys.
  6. The New Jersey Devils have opened their 2005-2006 training camp. Two former Fighting Sioux, David Hale and Zach Parise, are included on the roster. My Webpage
  7. Hey Sioux Me Now, I didn't see the show, but what is a "waxing fundraiser?" (Do I want to know?) Take it easy. GO FIGHTING SIOUX!!! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!!!
  8. Have any North Dakota games been announced for CSTV or ESPNU? Thanks.
  9. I hope I'm not sorry asking this question, but what is red pepper? I've heard of hush puppies, pasties, and elephant ears, but not a red pepper.
  10. Other than the Fighting Sioux, what do you all like best about living in North Dakota? Thanks.
  11. Congratulations on the great start Fighting Sioux fans!!!
  12. I was curious about the North Dakota football uniforms. Why is the ND logo on the uniform, but not the Fighting Sioux logo? Also, why don't the uniforms say "North Dakota" across the front ? The green does look great. Thanks.
  13. It seems strange that Wright State University would build a 12,000-seat on campus arena and not have a hockey program. Did they have one in the past?
  14. If the NCAA insists on a name change, may I suggest Scarlet Knights. Also a color change to red, black, and white would be appropriate. While you are at it, just change the school's name from UND to Rutgers. This would really help me out financially!----I can't believe I get a Fighting Sioux hat, shirt, and jerseys and start to follow a team that may have to change their name. I really hope UND does not cave in to the politically correct "thought police." Nothing about Indian names offends me,including the Florida State chop, and the NCAA and the media need to find other more important things to complain about. AND I am part Indian. Each day in our society, we are losing more and more freedom of speech. I don't think the NCAA and the media will stop with Indian names. Next up will be schools with religious names.
  15. Good luck tomorrow Fighting Sioux! After blowing a 27-7 lead against Illinois last week, if we lose to Villanova this weekend I may have to start driving from New Jersey to Grand Forks to watch football! GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!
  16. Thanks guys! Sioux7, the closest I have been to North Dakota is the wild, wild west of Dayton,Ohio! I asked last year about the Sioux playing at Princeton or Army, but the consensus was that is not likely to happen. My guess is that both of these arenas is too small for a long trip East to break even and neither of these teams is near the top 20 in college hockey. Just a note though, Princeton has a beautiful old arena that looks a little like a church and Army has a brand new arena next to their football stadium and a lake. I can't root for Princeton though because that was the big rival for Rutgers until we joined the Big East plus they have a history of not recruiting New Jersey athletes for their sports teams. New Hampshire would be a nice trip, but due to family situations that probably won't happen this year. Hopefully, the Sioux will be playing one of the Boston schools--BU,BC, Northeastern, or Harvard next year. GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!
  17. Welcome East nydakotan, Others certainly know more about dataflix, but last year I saw about 5-6 Fighting Sioux hockey games on cable here in New Jersey. If you don't have satellite tv, check with your cable company about what channels they offer. CSTV showed a lot of college hockey last season and now that ESPNU is up and running they will too. You might even start to see some on ESPN and ESPN2 since they lost the NHL contract to OLN-Comcast. FoxSports had some games and YES had a few. There is a network which is called ( I think ) the Empire Sports Network available in some parts of New York which I believe shows college hockey. Also, I found if you can't get some channel at home and you call a sports bar they will find the channel, but remember to ask for the person's name that you spoke with on the phone. That way when you walk in you can just say that John or Lisa said you would turn on such and such channel for me.---Hope I have been of some help.
  18. Hello UND83, Here in New Jersey there is not a lot of TV coverage for college hockey, but when it has been on I really enjoyed it. Lasy year I finally through in the towel on my Scarlet Knights starting an NCAA Division 1 hockey program. I also have been totally turned off on pro sports the last five years or so and CSTV,FoxSports, and now ESPNU have started showing more games. I started bouncing around the college hockey websites to find a team to follow. I always root for the Davids against Goliaths so I didn't want to follow the sports factories--Minn.,Wisc.,Mich.,Mich. State,Ohio State, etc. I was looking at North Dakota, Maine, and Minnesota-Duluth. This probably sounds lame, but I decided on North Dakota because I liked the Fighting Sioux name and the uniforms. AFTER I picked UND, I found out that the Sioux were seven-time National Champions, had a great football program too, and had fine facilities. Glad I chose North Dakota and whenever I wear my Sioux jersey(2), people always take a second look and tell me how cool it looks. Once I tell them that North Dakota is 7-time National Champions, they can't believe it.
  19. GOD BLESS all of you, your relatives, and friends in the Southeast. Once every ten years, we might be snowed in for a couple days here in New Jersey, but I have never seen devastation like this in America. We live in a great country and I know we are going to see an outpouring of help from around the country that will match or exceed Pearl Harbor and September 11.
  20. I wanted all of you Fighting Sioux fans out there to know what a terrific group of people you are associated with. Last Fall, I started following North Dakota and using your website. It has been a very difficult year personally and for my family. Two of your fans have gone out of their way to do some very thoughtful things. With all of the selfish, shallow, and "look at me--aren't I great" aspects of sports we see too much of these days, it is heartwarming to be reminded that sports is about people and fun. Although I am not a resident of North Dakota or an alumnus, I am proud to follow the team--whether you win 1 game a year or a National Championship. If these two people are representative of North Dakota, you live in a great community.
  21. Guys, thanks for the info. It looks like UND's campus is a bit more scenic than NDSU. Whoever took those pictures on the UND website did a great job.
  22. Hello North Dakota hockey, Thanks so much for the information. Through a very nice Fighting Sioux fan who is also on siouxsports, I have an indirect connection with him and I was wondering what type of guy and player he was. Sounds like a very nice guy.
  23. Hello #1 hakfan, As of right now, David Hale is not listed on the Devils roster, but is listed on the Albany River Rats roster(www.albanyriverrats.com). James Massen is listed under prospects if you go to the Devils site(www.newjerseydevils.com). As for going up to The Meadowlands, I live in southern New Jersey now very close to where the Trenton Titans of the East Coast Hockey League play. The Devils play about an hour and a half north of me and charge about $45 to sit near the top of a 20,000 seat arena plus $10 to park. I can go to four minor league games for that. Once in a while someone will give me a ticket, but the NHL has priced me and a lot of other people out. I enjoy the colleges, minors, and high school just as much. I'll try and keep my ears open about Sioux players with the Devils and River Rats.
