  1. A perfect sports weekend. North Dakota hockey wins two on the road against the number two team in the nation. My favorite Division 2 football team wins. My Rutgers Scarlet Knights come back from a 27-3 score on the road at Vanderbilt and win 37-34!-----Now if only some team, any team can stop the yankees from winning the World Series. ----Congrats Fighting Sioux hockey and football.
  2. Congratulations North Dakota football. What a great football weekend--my Scarlet Knights came back from a 27-3 deficit to Vanderbilt in Tennessee and won 37-34! GO RUTGERS!!! GO NORTH DAKOTA!!!
  3. Thanks jimdahl, I see. I appreciate the website and the work you do on it. Are you a long time fan?---What a great game last night!
  4. I loved it!!!---Way to go Fighting Sioux. I watched the game on College Sports TV at a sports bar where I could not hear any audio, but I was surprised at how well CSTV's video coverage was. I really did not know anything about the player who scored the penalty shot, but I just had a good feeling when he started skating toward the Maine goalie. What a great way to start the season--winning in OT against the number 2 team in the country. A couple things I noticed were that the mushy ice seemed to slow down the skating and I have never seen players have to walk up into the stands to get into the locker rooms. Hope the team( and football team) do well again tonight, but even a split in Maine would still be a fine beginning to the season. Do most of you expect North Dakota's ranking to go up a bit?
  5. Hope you guys can help me out. I am not much of a computer person at all---the one I use is not mine. My idea of high technology is a toaster.-----What exactly is the new RSS feature? I'm guessing that these are newspaper articles that go directly to my email address. Is that what the new feature is? If that is it, are you going to keep putting articles on this website? Thanks for your assistance.
  6. Good luck this weekend against Maine, North Dakota players and fans! This will be the first game I have seen the Sioux play on TV since I became a fan. I do seem to remember them a few years back on ESPN in the NCAA's. I checked with a local sports bar here in New Jersey to see if they get DirectTV channel 610 and would show the game. They were great about saying they will show it . They have about 20 TV's and all you have to do is ask and they put a set on for you showing a game you want. Hoping with the NHL greedfest going on, other sports networks will start showing college hockey more. GO FIGHTING SIOUX!
  7. How could you guys have forgotten the most important website outside of North Dakota,www.rutgershockey.com. Actually, we have a club hockey team that plays mostly other colleges in New Jersey,Delaware, Pennsy., etc. It has been operating on a shoestring budget for years and there seems to be almost no movement toward starting a NCAA Division 1 program. We seem to have every sport there is----baseball,basketball,football,wrestling,lacrosse,crew,volleyball,tennis,golf,gymn astics, soccer, field hockey,cross-country,track and field,softball,swimming,fencing---everything except hockey.
  8. I guess this is probably unfair to wcha teams, but good for college hockey overall.
  9. In college hockey, does the NCAA try to keep teams in their geographical area or ,for example, can Maine end up out West and North Dakota end up in the East. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the info. jloos. I assume the ushl is not a pro league.
  11. On the fightingsioux.com website, the players class is listed but it does not mention if this is their academic year or athletic elig. year. Does anyone know what one it is? Does North Dakota redshirt many players. Thanks.
  12. Congratulations from New Jersey, North Dakota players and fans. Great start to the season---a blowout win and my jersey arrived. North Dakota's jersey looks great. Looking forward to watching the upcoming game on college sports television network vs. Maine.
  13. Hey Let's Go Sioux, Thanks for the info. That is where I ordered my jersey. It is a replica and I hope the quality is pretty good. I had no idea the Devils and North Dakota had so many players in common. My interest in the NHL has ended, in large part due to the prices. To go to a Devils game, I would have to pay $10 to park and pay about $8 for a hot dog and soda. Ticket prices in the lower level are all $70. At the bottom rows of the upper level, the price is $58. The upper rows are less, but you are so far away in a 20,000 seat arena that your dog sparky could be skating around and you couldn't tell the difference.--A few times a year, I go to watch the AHL Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins. They play in a new 8,000 seat arena, plenty of free parking and tickets go from about $12-$19 dollars and almost every seat is a good one. Except for the fact the AHL allows too much fighting, it is still a good night out. For the near future, I expect the minor leagues and colleges will pick up a lot of new fans and some of them will lose interest in the NHL for good.
  14. Hey basil, I have been called worse things than goofy, although I probably am. There wasn't any big process. I was looking for a Division 1 team to become a fan of and I did not want to root for a college that is a sports factory. I went on a couple websites for hockey which brought me to ND's websites. While I do remember the Sioux playing in the NCAA tournament on ESPN in the past, I had no idea how good the program has been. Sorry if I don't know a lot about the program yet,but most people in North Dakota probably don't know that Rutgers beat Priceton in the first college football game ever played. We get almost no coverage of college hockey in the Mid-atlantic states( I imagine it is better covered up in New England). Looking forward to a large increase in games on the college sports television network and espnu. So anyway, there is nothing more I can say about how I picked your team--I haven't been insulted by your comment and I hope I have not insulted any long time fans by my questions. By next week, I may be the only person in New Jersey wearing a Sioux jersey! Take care.
  15. While I realize Princeton and Army are not Top Ten teams, do the Sioux ever come East to play them?
  16. I notice, depending on which poll, North Dakota is ranked anywhere from first to fifth nationally. Which of the polls do most fans and the NCAA give the most credence to. Thanks.
  17. From my first post yesterday, I certainly got the idea that the Sioux vs. Minnesota-Twin Cities is a big rivalry. What are the other big games. In other sports, are the big rivals North Dakota State,South Dakota, and South Dakota State? Thanks.
  18. Thanks for the welcome everyone. One of you mentioned recruiting New Jersey players. There are not a lot right now,but we do put some players in NCAA Division 1 and the NHL. One player,Jim Dowd, had a long career playing for the Devils and other teams. He may have been on one of the Stanley Cup teams. The future looks very bright. When I was a kid, the nearest rink was an hour away. In the past five years, we have gone from two rinks to about fifteen. Little league and high school hockey are booming. The rinks are open about 18-19 hours a day and there is very little time open for general public skating. Many kids start practicing at 5 in the morning.
  19. I hope you all don't mind, but after waiting over twenty years for my Rutgers Scarlet Knights to start a NCAA Division 1 hockey program, I have thrown in the towel and adopted your school as my hockey team. I was looking for a school that is not a sports factory, but still has a good team. Your program looks like it has a quite a lot of good to great years and I understand you are rated in the top 5 this season. Looking forward to the new college sports television network and espn's new college station showing more college hockey and I see that the Fighting Sioux are already scheduled for some games in October.--Much to my surprise, I have found out that you have a top football program too. Hope all your teams have a great season and please be patient while I learn more about your players. GO RUTGERS!!! GO NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX HOCKEY!!!
