Last week President Kelley had the following to say about the name/logo issue... To emphasize the UND brand is has to be unique. I was in a Publix a few days ago and someone commented on my "Notre Dame" cap. My wife informed him that it was North Dakota, not Notre Dame. His rebuttal was, well that's okay then. North Dakota may had the interlocking "ND" first, but is still recognized as Notre Dame 90% of the time. Maybe it's time to redefine the interlocking logo. The "U is larger to make a statement about UND being "The University" of North Dakota. I thought about putting an arrow on the part of the "U" with the "N" on it like a North arrow on a map, but I couldn't make it look the way that I wanted it to look.

Very important. Nice pickup for Coach Jones.

Since smoking has become part of the conversation regarding guns, how about we throw in trans fats. NYC restaurants have banned their use as of yesterday. New York bans trans-fats

Kelley takes the reins.

Star is right the I-10 corridor is booming, from the Panhandle to Diamondhead, MS. I can see kids from the Panhandle much more inclined to go to USA rather than USM for football. USM does recruit students and athletes very well from Louisiana, but I can see the pipeline from the Panhandle being turned off with the a new valve installed in Mobile redirecting the flow of students to USA.

At this time, I would like all of you on Dave's side of the argument to visit Dave's website. Sorry, Dave. I don't agree with your point of view on this issue. There are already plenty of gun laws in place and the courts just don't enforce them. We don't need more laws. We need to enforce the ones that we have. We don't need to take away the rights of law abiding citizens because there are people who will violate the law. I'm glad that the Supreme Court handed down a decision in favor the 2nd Amendment. What surprises me is that there were 4 dissenting judges. That is what really scares me. Did they decide that they want to change the constitution from the bench? Truly frightening.

and the construction continues. I received plans this morning on a 116,000 square foot Student Recreation Center bidding next month.

Winning would solve that problem. Remember when the Sioux had some great teams in the late 80's and early 90's. There was no problems with attendance and BB got plenty of ink. Vonesh, Guldseth, Johnson, Gardner ....

Although I don't own a gun, I consider this to be a huge victory for our rights as Americans... High court rules individuals have right to own guns for self-defense

Sorry, I think I would trust an experienced AD more than you on the difficulties in scheduling, "conference" vs. "no conference" I didn't say anything about hanging banners or what a championship would be mean to the U, I simply stated that it would be a nice achievement for the student/athlete to shoot for. I highly doubt that Faison is thinking that this is the end game for conference membership. It would be a first step toward a much bigger goal. Thanks for caring so much about North Dakota athletics.

As I mentioned previously, a revised Great West is not ideal, but it does accomplish a couple of short term goals, scheduling and conference championships for the student/athletes. These were a couple of the main points of the article from Faison.... It may not be a recognized conference by the NCAA insofar as post season, but it does provide a goal for the student athlete.

I missed the news report when they moved Lake Minnetonka to Florida.

While not ideal, this is probably a necessary short term step with a view to the long term. As mksioux said, I would hope that UND wouldn't lock into a long term commitment to such a wide spread conference. UND may join all-sports conference

I quite honestly wasn't familiar with the field of Energetics. Nice to see UND continues to be a leader in education and extending opportunities into additional fields.

Did something happen to I-94? Did they make it a one-way, where you can only go from ND into the Cities?
