To preface this post, I still hope the Fighting Sioux name will live on, but I doubt it. If the name is to change, we will all be throwing out ideas for a new name, as some of us already have. Where does it go from there?? Possible.. All of these ideas will go to some "naming" committee of which a short list is created and given to an executive group and that group makes the decision? This is the process that I see that would leave Cavalry off and some dumbass name like Sundogs on a short list. If the name is to change, Siouxsports needs to get behind a couple of good solid names that can be included in a short list.

If Cavalry is deemed to be too controversial, how about Northern Rangers or just plain Rangers? I would prefer Cavalry, but I don't think the power that be are going to go for it. As Goon said, it would look like a poke in the eye to the PC people and nowadays it seems we all have to get along, hold hands and sing songs together. NO SUNDOGS!!!

Interesting times at NDSU.

I find it interesting that the SBoHE approved the project last week and I have yet to see it appear in the GFH. I'm thinking that there is a larger story in the works than mere approval of the project and that the GFH is waiting to present a full story on the project. Well, I'm hoping anyway.
