    Webcast

Chris, I think what you guys are planning to do is great. I look forward to trying the webcast service out for the Tater Bowl and HOF game. If the quality is similar to that of the sample news conference, I can see myself using the service quite a bit, even though I'm a (non-local) season ticket holder. The addition of the men's hockey road games is a fantastic idea. If you guys can get Tim Hennessey to do the webcast play-by-play, your offering would be irresistible for nearly every Sioux fan.

    Power play

jk, I agree that the Sioux pp under Coach Blais has never seemed to be as effective as under Gino. Don't know really why that would be, as I'm sure they spend a lot of time working on it in practice, but it sure seems to be the case. The two things I would like to see them work on, things that seem to be devastatingly effective against the Sioux pk, are getting a quick shot/pass off from the point and better movement to get open by the forwards near the weak side post. SCSU and MSU-M seemed to do both really well and our boys paid for it.
  3. Slap, If by JP you mean Zach, then yes, he is a legitimate 5'11" in his street clothes, based on the one time I've ever been close enough to him to judge. I also noticed that he was the tallest of all those on stage when his name was called at the draft. If you mean Jordan, then I have no idea.
  4. Spammy, Go away. Don't feel the need to come back. You add nothing to a Sioux board. If one wishes to hear the UMN company line, one can always go to Parise On Ice.
  5. How about this? Take your condescending attitude and don't come back.

    The Rivalry

And ths differs with your position pertaining to UND in what way?
  7. I don't think it's the case, but I hope you're not putting Prpich in the 'don't want to go to college/not good students/attitude problems' category. I was impressed, especially at the end of the year, with his skill and hockey smarts. I was impressed all last year by his effort and toughness. And the guy is a mechanical engineering major! Give me two full forward lines of Prpich clones any day. I agree, the boys up front have got to put the biscuit in the basket. Even earlier in the year when they were winning, I seem to remember that they were rarely blowing anyone out. They were winning a lot of 1 goal games, which usually means good team defense. I normally refrain from singling any of the guys out, because these guys aren't pros, but the two guys I think that need to step up their efforts are Lundbohm and Massen. If these guys put forth the continuous effort say a Canady or a Connelly does, they'd be first team All-Americans. When the do go all out, it's amazing what they accomplish. This will also be David's senior year. I'd really like to see him have the kind of year that will stick in the minds of Sioux fans for many years to come.
  8. I can't begin to describe my distaste for the quoted phrases. Another two of my least favorites are 'the U' (as if the University of Minnesota is the only university in the history of the universe... rrriiiiiiight...),and 'Minnesota's Pride on Ice' (gag). There are some nice things in MN, but the self love that some of the natives indulge in is a bit much. If it's such a great place, why do they feel the need to continually remind everyone of it? Let it stand on its own merits.
  9. Apparently at practice today Massen was on a line w/ Bo & Zach. If that is the way it'll be tomorrow, then Dean might be putting Speedwhack and Notes back together to shut down the Kunitz line. Who would then be the third forward on that line? McMahon maybe? If that's the case, then you could have Lundbohm, Prpich, and Quinn on together on another pretty good scoring line. It'll be interesting to see what skates out together.
  10. NorthDakotaHockey, I've just sent you an e-mail about those two SRO tix we were talking about. I've found a couple of Sioux fans that want them, if they're still available.
  11. YaneA, Thanks for the info. That's a real shame about Al, hope he's able to find something for himself. Gotta say I'm not very impressed about how the vermin are running this regional. Doesn't sound like fans from the other participating schools are going to be given much of a chance to attend in person. This should prevent them from hosting future regionals, but I'm sure it won't. As Sicatoka (I think) says, "it's all about the Benjamins".
  12. I'm also looking for two this weekend. I've contacted Al Pearson, but he hasn't gotten back to me. Does anybody know whether he's been successful in locating some tickets (have any of you gotten any from him)? If you have tickets you'd like to sell, please contact me at wkmcd@attbi.com Thanks
  13. I'm just glad he seems to have his health issues under control. He's way too young to be suffering through these kind of problems. If he's able to play this weekend it's just icing on the cake.
  14. "Fight on Sioux" without a doubt. The band should play it as often as possible and the lyrics should be displayed on the facia ring. Years ago, they'd play it by starting out very slowly, then slowly picking up the tempo over what seemed to be several minutes. By the end, the whole arena was in a frenzy.
  15. Sorry Bisonguy, I misinterpreted. I personally would have opted for or or if I meant to make a tongue-in-cheek comment. No hard feelings, I hope.

    Sioux/duluth

Wow! You guys are being way too hard on this team. As poorly as things have gone in the last 10 games, they could have packed it in at any time. The closest they've come is the first game at Mankato, where, in my opinion anyway, they didn't so much as pack it in, but were afraid to do anything, lest it be called a penalty. I've just come back from Senser's, where I watched today's game. Even after Josh gave up the third goal by commiting way too early, the boys battled and battled, trying to tie it back up. Certainly they haven't been able to finish, but not from lack of effort. They're just holding their sticks too tight. Today's game was lost by Josh (sorry Josh, just calls 'em as I sees 'em, and no, there is no way I could do better). He gave up three bad goals. Two where he was WAY out of position and another where he was in good position, but should have made the stop. I am extremely proud that this team refuses to quit. Do I want the results to be better? Of course I do, but it's easy to give 100% when things are going well. It takes character to give 100% when things don't go well. I, for one will be supporting the boys in person in Madison, and in the WCHA first round, unless they play in Denver. Support your team through thick and thin, win or lose. Keep plugging away boys! If you do, I guarantee it'll turn around. This is a great opportunity to write yourselves into history. Sweep Bucky, then be the first team in WCHA final five history to win the tournament title without being a top three seed. Then go on to get #8. You have the skill and heart to do it. Just to show that I am not a total Pollyanna, I think it's time that Josh and the Sioux part ways. I think a change would do both good. Fight on Sioux
  17. Wow, haven't we gotten on our high horse! FWIW, I'm of the opinion this kind of undeserved cheap shot should be grounds for removal of posting privileges. If you want to post this tripe, go to your Bison board.
  18. Does anyone know who I need to contact in order to get tickets reserved for the visiting team for next weekend's series at Wisconsin? Is it Al Pearson? If so, how do I contact him? I live in the TC, so I'm hoping for a little help from those of you up in GF. Thanks
  19. Hrkac, I've e-mailed you about one of your extra tickets. If somehow you didn't get it you can e-mail me at wkmcd@attbi.com. Thanks.
  20. Exactly, as I said, that decision was made over 100 years ago. There's no way 'SU or UND will relegate the other to some status below flagship at this point. That being the case, they may as well be competitive.
  21. Nice troll, Tony, but I won't bite. You know fully well I have not rendered a thumbs up or down on the bill under discussion. I've also not suggested disappointment in 'SU being competitive with UND. Try accusing me of something that can be supported by my statements.
  22. Gee, Tony, who sounds like a baby here? BTW, I'm pretty sure Jim doesn't reside in Grand Forks. And Tony, I'm sure you were up in arms when the legislature insisted that the new REA be self supporting. Who do you think was behind that? Could it be blatant weasel NDSU supporters in the legislature? People that live in glass barns shouldn't throw stones. SD set the precedent. Chapman and Taylor should have been on the ball to prevent the same thing happening in ND. Looks like they dropped the ball on this one. Why don't you go and spew some of your venom at them? When will the 'SU crowd be honest with themselves and everyone else and admit what the move to D1 is all about? In case you're too close to the situation to figure it out, I'll tell you. GF built the Alerus, which while not as nice IMHO as FargoDome, it puts UND in the same neighborhood. Then Ralph built the new REA, killing 'SU's will to go D1 in hockey anytime in the near future. Then CC signed a contract to carry UND football, basketball, and hockey statewide. Then UND did the unthinkable by stealing 'SU's thunder by winning an NCAA football title. It was all too much for 'SU's supporters to bear, so they had to up the ante and go D1 across the board. Truth is ND is not big enough to have two flagship schools, but that mistake was made over 100 years ago. ND should have decided to have only one like MN (one of the only rational government decisions ever made in that state), and especially like Wyoming. If the 'SU crowd thinks there will be only one flagship in the state and that it will be 'SU, then they are crazy. Tony, you're usually pretty rational, but this latest post of yours is waaaaay beneath you.
  23. Without a doubt - the vermin. Why? 1. Most xenophobic and arrogant fans anywhere. Despite claims to the contrary by vermin apologists on the USCHO board, I can't count the number of times I've been told by their fans how the Sioux are just a bunch of 25 year old Canadians, despite the fact that they aren't and despite the fact that even if they were, it's still within the rules. Nobody the world over, except for sotas, have a problem with Canada. Hating Canadians is like hating warm cereal. If you hate either, you're really going out of your way to be offended. Bucky, by the way, has the best fans. They support their team through thick and thin, they travel well, and they are fun to party with. 2. Their prima donna, snot-nosed, I'm-so-talented-because-I-was-one-of-the-top-Minnesota-high-school-players-so-I-don't-have-to-play-hard players. Their players really seem to love to use their sticks too. 3. Donnie No-Soul getting the league to adopt the new scheduling system that has given the Sioux SCCC as their 'natural' rivals. 4. Dougie why-the-hell-can't-I-pronounce-Lundbohm-correctly Woog getting the league to hold the WCHA tournament nearly every year in St. Paul after being whipped by the Sioux in 5 of 6 meetings in the '86-'87 season (the last 2 beatings were in the WCHA tourney, which at that time was held in the higher seeds home rink). I don't however have a problem with the rouser. I think it's great. I laugh every time they do it. If they really enjoy something that makes them look that ridiculous, why discourage it? Same with their uni's. If they really want to wear something that ugly, with that incredibly fearsome "M" on their sweaters , I'm all for it.
  24. I completely agree with jk on this: It's really gone overboard. I knew when it was originally published it was going to cause a lot of angst in verminville. Hammy on the USCHO board is about to throw a rod, he's getting so worked up about it. He must really be worried the Sioux might be for real this year. No doubt in his mind it's far too soon.
