  5. A 3rd discussed possible nickname is also included in the crest, not by name but by image. "At the base of the arrowhead outline are two horse heads, representing the Nakota horses that roamed the prairies of North Dakota."
  6. USS North Dakota -- "Reapers of the Deep". Sounds kinda cool! http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=68834 North Dakota -- "Reapers of the North" could work.

  14. Maybe a little birdie should encourage the NCAA Executive Committe to announce statewide sanctions well before the June vote. They could rationalize this due to UND's attempts to comply with the settlement and the state legislature and initiative/referrendum process elevating it to a state issue. This would almost guarantee a no vote in June, thus bringing closure to the whole drama. A November constitutional ammendment vote won't gain support either if all ND schools are under sanction.
  15. Guys, this may be the last time wearing these sweaters -- start playing like a Fighting Sioux!
  16. The SL brief to ND Supreme Court. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/231490/
  17. Hard to dispute much of anyuthing in that statement, but it doesn't change the facts of where we are at with the nickname. Votes and rallies in ND have had no effect on the NCAA's stance.
  18. I believe you have this backwards. In this case no means no. (nickname)
  19. The "best practices" provision is the death knell of UND athletics as we know them. Being blackballed by the NCAA might not be an immediate death, but certainly a slow fatal bleed.
  20. I caught the last part of an interview with Tim O'Keefe on the radio today. (paraphrasing) He said that the Hak e-mail is not the reason we are in the position we are today. That e-mail was directed to Hockey Letterwinners to keep them informed on the issue and then was forwarded and became public. At that point in time there was still a belief that some action by the Legislature/Governor could sway the NCAA. He basically said what Faison has been saying "it is what it is" and the NCAA is not budging. He refrained from saying what he really thought of the NCAA, but said it has been handled poorly by them and there have been many missed opportunities to resolve this differently. Now it has become a game of who loves the nickname more and UND loses.
  21. The concept by JLG is obviously outdated as the more recent plan for the IPF would not allow for an East-West orientation of the football field.
  22. Time seems to be softening it's stance on this article. Changed the headline from "Bad Call" to "Blunder".
  23. The Tv guys speculated that it went off the post which is front of the goal line, not the outside of the net which is behind the goal line. It looked to me that it went off the back of the goal where it curves out.
  24. The House just passed this by a 2-1 margin in favor. Now goes to the Gov.
