UND came up with another W on the season defeating UW-Milwaukee 3-2. Keep up the great work, ladies! 25-23, 26-24, 23-25, 29-31, 15-8 Looks like it was a very evenly, tight fought battle against a pretty good team. http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=58715&SPID=6409&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=204987446

The home South Dakota game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 15 but it now shows on the schedule as Sunday, Jan. 16 at 1:00 and 3:00. This just happens to be the same weekend that the hockey team has the Gophers at home. Should we take this as a sign that they are planning another Meltdown at the Ralph? I don't see why else they couldn't have just left the games at 1:00 and 3:00 on Saturday in the Betty. But it would be tough for the team to go into Sunday games in the Ralph having not practiced or played on the court in the Ralph. So should we assume that they are planning on playing the Minot State double-header on Thursday in the Ralph, tear down for Fri. and Sat. hockey and then setting the court back up for USD on Sunday? As we are searching for conferences, it would be great to show off the Ralph as a viable basketball facility. And getting the set-up crew some practice with transitioning from one to the other would be good. Does anyone know what time of the day the hockey team holds their usual practice? would it be possible to have morning and/or afternoon hockey practice on Thursday and still get the floor set up in time for a 6 o'clock game that same day? We don't really want to be messing with hockey practice the day before the Minnesota series. Just thinking out loud. Anyone hear about any games in the Ralph this year?

I was at a few of the Sioux games at Kraft this spring. It was definately showing its age.

My guess would be that the 2,156 comes from the number of seats in the student sections. If this is the case, once all of the seats are filled in the student section students only have to pay $5 for a regular ticket that we all would pay more for. So they would still be getting a good deal. It just means that students need to be getting their tickets early in the week if they want a free one. It would be a good sign if the student section is filled up every week and students needed to start getting seats in other sections.

The Gopher women's hockey beat writer for the Examiner is doing a preview of all of the WCHA programs. Here is the one on UND: Team Profile - North Dakota

Maybe some of the fans making the trip to Moscow should bring some signs with that literally say nothing but "Nebraska". Or "Beat Nebraska". That should take their minds out of the game and get them thinking about the following week.

I noticed that in the corner of the video viewer it says " part of the ND Network." I am guessing that is going to be the new name of Fighting Sioux Sports Network.
-
It probably has nothing to do with the upgrade and has probably always been this way. But are we limited to 10 images per post?

The University of Wisconsin did it in 2006.

The 6,000 referenced was what they were looking at possibly building in 2008 but finances did not allow it to happen. The few articles that have come out in the last few days have mentioned 6-8,000. And I am sure they are still pretty early in the discussion phase and trying to work out the donation that they haven't even gotten to truely discussing those types of details.
-
Maybe they switched to metric?

I'm surprised I haven't heard of more people going to Omaha for the series in November. I know of many fans who either have or are close to making it to every rink in the WCHA. And with Dean coaching for UNO I thought for sure there would be a large crowd of Sioux fans at the Qwest Center. So anyone planning on going? Or has anyone heard about possible bus trips this year?

I know it's late but I really was sitting here scratching my head about what the heck this was and how the Football Media Guide could have an error this obvious. We didn't play the Gophers in FB in 05. Maybe they ment Minnesota State. Then it dawned on me, it must have been 1905! haha. And a big THANKS to Doc and everyone else who is keeping this thread going. It is really interesting to see some of the facts and stories. And especially the posts about older games and athletes. I have definately learned a bit about UND athletics from before I became associated with UND!

It's time for some people to accept that the nickname is gone and move on. We need to be doing what is best for UND and what will be the best for UND in the future. And no, we will not always be the Fighting Sioux. The State Board has already said that we won't be and is retiring the name. President Kelley has said that we will honor our past as the Fighting Sioux and honor and respect that part of our university. It is great that the administration wants to do something to acknowledge our time as the Fighting Sioux. But we will not always be the Fighting Sioux.

I actually watched this whole game live and also have it on my DVR so I have watched it 2 or 3 times since. It was definately one of the best Bowl games this last year. It was definately a bold move by Coach Akey to go for the 2 point conversion instead of just the PAT to force another OT. It'll be interesting to see if he can truely turn their program around.
