My god, I am glad you are NOT our athletic director. If you did this, you would be lucky to see 100 people at the game.
As far as the Meltdown at the Ralph, people need to remember that they were forecasting one of the worst winter storms that night the region had seen in years. That kept a huge number of people away that didn't live inside the Grand Forks city limits. I made the trek in from Mayville and remember it was a pretty scary drive that I probably shouldn't have made.
The biggest issue with the rest of the sports moving to DI is getting the casual fan to view them as DI and no longer DII. I didn't mind when we were playing NCC games in the Ralph. I thought it was a fun atmosphere. I hope the day comes that the team is successful enough that we can try something similar with hosting some of our Big Sky men's games in the Ralph. Even if we could pull in 6-8,000 for certain BSC games in the REA, it would be a fun DI atmosphere. Or bringing in NDSU every other year, maybe an Iowa State, do a 2-1 with Minnesota or Wisconsin. The Ralph is such an amazing trump card that it would be nice to be able to utilize it as much as possible for other sports.
Imagine showing a recruit "Phil Jackson Court at Ralph Engelstad Arena".
