  1. I just don't think giving the death blow to the CHA, potentially causing 3 or 4 schools to drop DI hockey, and only getting to see UMD, UM, and UW in GF every other year is worth it just to have a close road trip to Bemidji.
  2. I have been looking online to try and find a decent picture of BSU's arena. Does anyone know where there is a good pic?
  3. I missed the beginning. Who are they interviewing right now and what relevance does he have to UND? EDIT: Todd Alexander. I take it he is a red shirt freshman? Or is he hurt/ sitting this weekend out?
  4. What I don't understand is why the FSSN couldn't just pick up the Charter Communications feed. I am sure Charter would be willing to work out a pretty cheap deal with UND/FSSN. If they can increase the viewing area/number of viewers it is much more attractive to companies buying advertising during the broadcast. I would think that something could be worked out that would be beneficial to both sides.
  5. It sounds like there is a good number of Sioux fans there.
  6. For all of the NCC basketball fans, I just want to encourage you to check out D2Basketball.com. There are threads for both the women's NCC and the men's NCC basketball games. It is only in its first full season but the site is slowly picking up. Check it out.
  7. This is a very good point. If this keeps going on like it currently is, this could become a national spectacle. That is all that UND needs right now, more controversy on the national stage.

If this was truely the case, every hotel chain in North America would have wanted to build here. If you have a guarantee from the city that they will cover any losses, who wouldn't want to build here?
  9. I have attended many of these discussion and have asked this question many times. I have yet to receive a direct answere.
  10. Please explain to us who exactly has been talking alot lately about UND wearing their black jerseys last March. Also please explain how this has anything to do with the Sioux name debate.
  11. I don't see the baseball or softball teams ever really being nationally competative, at the DI or DII levels. I don't usually buy the argument that because of our location our sports are unable to recruit quality athletes, but I will agree that these 2 teams are at a disadvantage. First, UND would need some major facility upgrades. The best option would most likely to be to partner with the city to build these. Second, the university would have to greatly increase it's recruiting budget. Even with this, I still don't see UND really being nationally competative. As far as adding Lacrosse, the idea sounds interesting but I think that there are better options right now. First off, we have a long way to go in getting women's hockey to be self-supporting. We could definately use a more permanent soccer field or look at adding better seating, scoreboard, etc. at the current one. Add on top of this the DI study. I have no idea how seriously they are looking at DI, but if a DI move is possibly in the future, we don't really need to start adding expensive sports. If UND does stay DII and then starts to consider adding sports, I would suggest men's soccer. North Dakota has men's soccer in high school. With already having a women's program, the start up cost should not be that high.
  12. These threads do get old after a while but I do think there is more that could be done to help the atmosphere. Moving the band down was a great idea. It also makes them much easier to hear and I think they sound better. I also believe that moving the student section to the south end of the rink would do alot too. I know some are against it just because they want to keep their seats in the corner but again, there are still 3 other corners. I would think this would be much more intimidating to the opposing goalie. It would also help keep the students from blocking the view of others. In the past they have roped off the last row to help the suite holders view. This would all help the students to stay more annimated while opening up more prime seating for others.
  13. GF Herald Article This is the same article that was posted in the Old Engelstad site thread. But the second half of the article talks about the DI study. I like the reference to USF and UCF. Makes an interesting point.
  14. Does anyone even know for sure that they were even here? And if so who?

What do you want to discuss? If you have something to say, post it. No one is stopping you.
  16. Bemidji State earns series split with 6-1 win over UND What happened today?!?!
  17. You have to remember. There are many people on that other board who have personally spent years studying UND's athletic department and financial books and records. They know for a fact that UND has maxed out it's fund-raising potential, and will never be able to raise enough $$$$ for a future DI move. Apparently all of those Doctors, Lawyers, and Pilots that graduate from UND don't make as much money as all of the farmers that graduate from NDSU.
  18. The ladies had a great game against Bemidji State. Now they just need to finish it up by getting the sweep. I have said all season that these ladies have the talent but just need some confidence. Let's get the sweep ladies.
  19. Not a good weekend at all. You can't wait until there are two minutes left in the weekend to decide to start playing hockey. At least the women won today.
  20. They have some nice pictures of the DC-8 flying lab here.
  21. I was looking around at CollegeSwimming.com and just had a question about the scholarship levels. I was looking in the North Central Conference section which I believe is messed up unless we have added more affiliate members, also UNO is listed as an independent. But in the section it shows each school's number of scholarships and also it's budget. I was just wondering what the DII and DI scholarship limits are. School - Schollies - Budget Men's teams: UND - 3.33 - $56,299 USD - 2.50 - $28,742 SCSU- 0.17 - $10,158 MSU - 0.19 - $29,845 UNO - No Team UNK - No Team MSUm No Team GVSU 3.00 - $18,288 Women's teams: UND - 6.56 - $56,300 USD - 3.50 - $29,723 SCS - 4.29 - $14,917 MSU - 3.24 - $31,044 UNO - 5.20 - $47,329 UNK - N.A. MSUm 0.80 - N.A. GVSU 5.00 - $18,288 I just thought these numbers were kind of interesting. Does anyone know the schollie limits of the divisions?
