Argus Leader: USD-Augie series may not be over Emphasis added The SUU and the UC Davis game are the only ones that have really been confirmed. With next year allowing for 12 games, many people assumed that the Great West would then just play a complete schedule. It sounds like the schools are still trying to work things out but as of yet nothing has been confirmed about us playing Cal Poly. Obviously this article from October 21 shows that scheduling is easier said than done. Side note: Auggie and the University of Sioux Falls announced earlier this season that they were going to start trying to schedule each other in FB again. It'll be interesting to see who Auggie chooses to play in their 1 non-conference game next year.

USD's Game Notes It is the 90th meeting between the schools. UND leads the all time series 56-28-5. South Dakota has a 23 home game win streak that it will be trying to protect this weekend.

I was going to bring my whistles and pon-poms with too but thought that might be a little over the top.

Thoughts? Predictions? Feelings? I am making the trip down to Vermillion. Who else is planning on going?

The company that I work for is considering taking in a Sioux hockey game for a work party. Just wondering if anyone would have a suite for 1 game that they would be willing to sell us tickets for. We would need to be able to seat about 20 people. If anyone has a suite or knows of anyone that has one that would be willing to let us use, please let me know. Any game, friday or saturday would work! Thanks!

The "Build by North Dakota, Playing for North Dakota" banner is pretty cool.

The last NCC home game ever is 3 days away. It's sad that there hasn't been much chatter about this game. I say SCSU gives us a tough game but the Sioux take control in the second half.

I do not want to see anything that has to do with farming. North Dakota has a hick enough image and UND doesn't need to perpetuate that image. Besides, the Ag College can have that. I also don't want to see anything that is a meteorological name. Storm, Blizzard, Freeze, etc. are better left to WNBA teams. I do want to see something that reflects North Dakota, it's history and it's heritage. And one of the things that I love most about the Sioux logo is that it is not a cheesy cartoonish logo. It is very distinguished and noble. Some of my top choices: Norskies Scandies Vikes (not vikings) the ever popular cavalry Troopers I have to say that University of North Dakota Norskies has a nice ring to it.

I couldn't believe the score when I got back to my hotel room and checked the final. A tough loss to see after a great start to the game. But the team is obviously already an improved team. The ladies just need to learn from this one and they will start to pull more of these games out. A tough challenge coming up next weekend as the ladies take on UMD at home.

Anyone know the score of the game? I am in a motel in Minnesota that won't let me use streaming audio or video over their wireless.

With the condition that either of the Sioux tribes can take back their support at any point in time, and the name will be change, I don't see the point in dragging out the inevitable. If the name does eventually change, I do not want to see the administration pick some random name and try force it on the fans. Looking at many University nicknames, they were not necessarily chosen but grew on the university over time. I would like to see UND do the same and just go without a name and see if a nickname slowly catches on and rises to the top choice of many fans before being officially being adopted by the University. No thanks. Let's leave the crazy meteorological names with color adjectives to WNBA teams. Oh, and you forgot Sundogs.

He must be hanging out with Steve Hallstrom too much. Halstrom had the exact same comment tonight on WDAY's 10 o'clock news. But Hallstrom constantly walks around wearing a green and yellow cheerleader outfit so I try to watch his sportscasts as little as possible.

Honest question. Many are blaming the administration and many others are blaming Buning for draging this out. At any point before the "official firing announcement to Buning" did the administration ever sit him down and say things aren't going as well as they would like them to be and give him a chance to work them out with the coaches and administration in the atheltic department? If not, blame Buning all you want for taking the leave of absence, but what did the administration do to help? Honest question.

The place was pretty full but too bad those hunters weren't there to help us out on third downs!!! I bet they were listening on the radio though.

There is no reason we shouldn't be able to cram 15,000 in the tin shed for this game. I volunteer to hang from one of the rafters!!!

In initial planning the arena was going to be finished for 2009. The USHL was interested in getting their Fargo team up and running by 2008 so the schedule was pushed ahead. Due to some delays in construction and achieving tax exempt status for the organization that will run the arena, only the main arena will be completed by 2008 The 4 smaller rinks will be finished by 2009. Technically that is still on with their initial time frame. (at least this is the way I have understood everything)

Anybody else notice that San Diego State University quietly changed their nickname and is now the Spartans? I noticed it earlier today on an ESPN ad for the SDSU/Hawaii game on ESPN this friday.
