That's interesting. I had not heard these names mentioned. Do we know why they backed out? Does anyone know if we are still in talks with any schools about other possible home games?

If you had come on here and were arguing that Northern Colorado should be DIII you'd have alot more people agreeing with you. But you have yet to even give a logical reason why DU shouldn't be DI. DU fits the DI mold more than most other schools that are pretending to be DI. So what point are you trying to get at?

I personally found this page the most interesting. It shows all of the various classes that are in the process of making the transition and gives a short profile of each school. If you take out UND's class that is in the exploratory year, only 4 out of 16 schools are still independants. One of those is Cal State Bakersfield who will likely end up in the Big West conference. Moving up to DI isn't easy... but is it worth it? An interesting article from rivals.com that talks about the transition of basketball teams to DI. 341! And that doesn't include the 6 schools in UND's transition class. Big move can mean big mileage Can a DI program survive as an independant?

What are the benefits of NDSU having a DI classification? They could have just started DI hockey and made a ton of money while keeping the rest of their sports in DII. I would assume that DU looks at those benefits in the same light that NDSU does.

UND hockey blog Will we be seeing the Ralph put in a bid that has the UP Center as the partner arena instead of TRF? It would make alot more sence. Easier travel right down I-29, alot more/better hotels, good sized airport, etc. If Fargo has recent experience with this tourney it should only help with experience and to boost fan interest. Or will USA hockey see giving the area two tournies right in a row (3 if you count the last U-20) as a bad thing?
