At least for once it won’t be complete NPI devastation if we drop a game haha
-
Wonder if it’s partially because of the gaffe he had last night that resulted in us taking a penalty. Not that I think young players should be punished for making mistakes, but with Rickwood out, having more experience and solid defending will be a big deal.
-
I was just saying last night how much different our 3rd periods are compared to the pervious 4. What a fun team to watch
-
Reschny’s line was on fire tonight and was the clear top line. But that Rickwood line looked even better with Young than it has with Kernan. What a pleasant surprise that he was and yet another display of this team’s forward depth.
-
This is a good time for some to prepare themselves that whichever goalie we see tonight, is probably not the one we see tomorrow. No matter what the results are. Assuming that going into the weekend could help avoid the meltdown at 4pm tomorrow night

Random info: The guys from USCHO podcast this week were noting that looking at the NPI at this point in the season is even more useless than looking at the pairwise was at this point in prior years. Connelly said it’s more volatile this early because it goes only off of win percentages instead of comparisons with other teams, so the fluctuations will be even bigger than the pairwise was. FWIW to those that are using brain power worrying about or praising the NPI.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

This statement is a little over the top. Berry didn’t know we’d have have 2 guys playing in Spengler because it wasn’t even certain NCAA guys would be playing. Plus our roster was t built in such a way that we’d be missing this many players for WJC Jax is ensuring that Wiebe and Liv get to play in a special tourney that few players will ever get the opportunity to play in. That’s a big sell for snagging future recruits. Barring injuries, We’ll have just barely enough to scrap together a full lineup Friday and those players aren’t scrubs. (And maybe 25 and 4 will get a few reps in that night). I’m guessing Wiebe and Liv get back to business for the Saturday game -

I see where you’re coming from, but they could play up to 4 games in 6 days, have 1 day off, and then deal with a 7 hour time difference with the travel being on game day. That’s tough even for strong young athletes. The “so what” is one or both of them getting injured from playing while over fatigued. If they make it back in time, I’m Guessing they’ll be on the bench as needed playing limited minutes, but assuming they’ll be good to go for full game mode could be reckless. -

I know we only got to see him in the exhibition, but I don't feel worried at all about Engel having to jump into that series. I'm more worried about having only 4-5 defensemen that will get way too fatigued. -

I think the article said those guys fly back on Friday the 2nd. So I'm guessing they sit that one out, then (hopefully) play Saturday, even if it's limited minutes. -
Hitting the NCHC Road - UND Travels to UNO

I don’t know what everyone else thought, but even though UNO had us on our heels for a while in the 3rd, we didn’t go into prevent turtle mode like we used to. We still sent 2 guys in on the forecheck instead of just 1 and keeping everyone else back like we used to do when we’d just let teams walk back into the game. -

This keeps getting brought up and I think it’s safe to say that going into the weekend the coaches told them they’d both get a start no matter what the Friday result was. You know this staff has communicated with the goalies even; it’s not how things were before, -

The first 19 minutes were reminiscent of last week’s Saturday 2nd period. Very solid overall. -

Hoping for 3 things this period: 1) green team to kill the penalty 2) green team to clean it up and get some 5x5 O zone chances 3) the broadcast doesn’t get fixed so that we can just watch without the UNO homers -

That lady blocked me on Twitter 2-3 years ago for saying UNO was too talented to be missing the tourney. Methinks she is a wee bit sensitive when it comes to the Kelly green. -

I love your optimism and sweep mentality. I think we are the better team in both games but get goalie’d by Latkoczy one of the nights- split -
Sorry if this was mentioned during the thread last night, but Jax taking his timeout in the 2nd period up 3-1 was brilliant. The ice was tilting a little bit, we took an icing with tired guys. He takes his timeout, get our matchup, and boom Duluth’s momentum was gone. Not to hate on Berry, but those are the moments where he would have had the guys fight it at the wrong time with the wrong matchup and then the game would have swung the other way. Right away it felt like the right decision and it seemed small but was big.
-
If anyone went anywhere the ledge during that game, they missed most of it. Even though Duluth’s first shot went it, we still went almost 9 mins before they got their first shot on goal. Wire to wire impressive performance and was the definition of a #full60. That’s the type of game where even if we would have somehow lost, we played the right way.
-
Not appalled, just was surprised. And you say “gopher arrogance” even after I said if they want to do it any home game I’m good with it. New traditions are fine, I just didn’t know the rationale for it. End of story.
-
Aside from it hurting our NPI, we can all agree that it’s fun watching them struggle. But I think back to how much their 2019-2020 struggled while they played in front of 30 people at the John. But 2 years later they’re at a frozen four and the year after that they played in a natty game. So even though they’re down right now, they have some solid recruits coming and we might not be laughing for long. Don’t get me wrong, I think Bob has screwed up by not making more inroads with the CHL yet, but he had a decent recruiting cycle this year.
-
Are you kidding with this comment? Cuz it’s hard for me to tell if you don’t know when usually do it or if you’re just being a d**k. This has nothing to do with arrogance or being haughty. We’ve had a tradition for 20(ish?) years and they changed it up; it’s more confusion and curiosity. If it’s the new tradition I actually think it’s cool. Heck I wouldn’t even mind if they did it every home game win or lose just to show appreciation for the fans. But the change was random.

Omaha spoiled that haha

Came here to see if anyone knew why we did a stick salute, but there doesn’t seem to be a definitive answer. It felt a little cringey

Yeah that was livanavage, not Homer.
