15. Other than the RBs, the O looks mostly intact coming back next year. Stanley and Aplin were solid though. D takes a front line hit. Not easy to replace them and these pages have already had NG discussions, but it looks like the D loses only one LB Palmborg (Williams as a backup), one CB Harris so the LB and secondary look like strengths. Getting Ott back will be huge. Which RS's do we expect to see take on larger rolls?

Someone want to list all of them. I think there's 15-16 including transfers.

What happened to JJ? Who's playing next week?

I did not see one second of yesterday's game as I was in a sports bar in Fargo (after a wedding) that had SU on all TV's. Can someone update me on injuries? Helgren, Wanzek, Maag. Who else and how serious?

FYI, I"m not saying Freund IS the answer at OC, but I think he could disagree with the O ideology but is stuck with it from above. He could see the team in a completely different light than Rudy and frankly, I believe he's a great recruiter too.

True. I think that we shouldn't discount the possibility of Freund doing well in a different roll. Can't blame a coach for being a team player so if he's following the OC's lead, he's not able to put out his own thoughts/techniques/ideas all the time.

I just don't get the Schmidt love here. The D is average.

Me too, as I have NEVER encountered a worse run bar than the Tavern at the Alerus. ONE bartender and maybe 2 barmaids for a bar full of thirsty pre-game fans. It's nuts.

I understand that exactly what happened to Kelly at Notre Dame. I'm even wondering about Bubba taking over the DC job or does wearing the HC hat and the DC hat become too much? I know a guy like LIncoln Riley at OK is OC and HC. NO I'm comparing him to a likely NFL coach.

I have no clue who the go-to Special Teams Coach or WR coach could be, but he must be able to recruit too.

Someone mentioned the other UND coaching situation with Brian Kelly effectively replacing most, if not all, of his staff a couple years ago. It worked there; could work here. Would hate to see a Cedric Case type recruit have an excuse not to come here, and some of the RS and other recruits as well. We all know how many transferred out after Muss was canned. Hate to see the team lose good players in a coaching regime change.

31-20 bad guys

There's been many times that I've been thankful this team finally has a bona fide QB. He is not perfect, but he's much better than any we've had in the past few years.

They would be if they had to play anyone but the teams they beat suck. Even if they make the playoffs, they will get killed. (I don't believe that, just speaking for the "football minds" around here.

Right! I just fear they will have that one game where it all clicks.

Very concerned about this game. Idaho has some FBS talent especially on O so this is gonna be a tough road game. Gotta figure out how to make stops on 3rd down. Gotta pound the ball early on O but with a nice mix of passes to Wanzek and maybe, just maybe a tight end!

UND just lost to the #5 team in the country by less than a TD and NO ONE here thinks it was a good effort. That could give a casual fan to think maybe, just maybe things are going in the right direction. For those who want to dump the staff, bear in mind the team has few seniors and an argument could be made that the RS frosh and next year's recruits (Cedric Case especially) look really good. Add to that a nice Soph class and things are looking up.

In the sober light of morning, this is what hit me. Weber is a top 5 team in the country. UND did not have a very good game and lost by 5. UND can't take any games off the rest of the way, but should make the playoffs and make some noise in the playoffs.

Ok...not trying to argue, but you think there's more talent on O than D? I think UND is a little above average and I think next year will be more than above average,

And I guess I put more on the D as that is the team's strength and then they have a game like this and I just can't understand it. What is missing?
